This is a working snail farm in the heart of the Alkmaar valley, Mpumalanga, South Africa. We are blessed with beautiful 360 views and the ability of working with our mama, Mother Nature, every day. We are passionate about sustainable farming practices and aim to produce a variety of beautiful, nutritious, foods by harnessing the power, diversity and cyclical nature of Mother Earth.

This position is for someone who enjoys farm living, being close to nature, and is passionate about our environmental impact, and living as simply and as naturally as possible. It is for the traveller who is excited about community and collaborative efforts, and wants to learn about a host of topics, including snail farming, production & marketing, bee keeping, food farming, and inclusion and diversity as farming techniques.
Help
We are looking for someone who is handy on social media to help us keep our online content up-to-date, fresh and relevant (WIX, FB, Instagram, Tiktok, Whatsapp, You Tube, experience are advantageous). We are also looking for someone who can help us check guests in and out of our Farm Cottage, and ensure that the accommodation is always pristine for our guests. Additional help in the vegetable garden (planting, harvesting, weeding etc.), or with our farm animals (feeding, cleaning etc.) may be requested from time to time.

Our travellers are hosted in our gorgeous backpackers digs, affectionately called the "Bed in the Shed". "The Bed in the Shed" is equipped with own bathroom and kitchenette, where the traveller may prepare simple meals (breakfasts and dinners) and keep snacks etc. It has two single beds, and a double fold out Futon, Wifi & Netflix. Main meals (lunch @ 2pm) will be shared together at the main house every day.
What else ...
We are so fortunate to be surrounded by local sites, including waterfalls, stone circles and the Kruger National Park. We also have a community of diverse and interesting people (soap and cosmetics manufacturers, honey and mead enthusiasts, local artists, orchid farmers, Kinesiologists, yoga teachers, potters, to name a few) who the travellers will meet and hopefully spend time with during their stay.
