Did I truly appreciate why I was with them?? Yes...I did...their Way of life & living was something to be documented for others to see and experience. So how fortunate I was to be the one to be part of their "WORLD" & FAMILY " ....(My, ESAUhu,also their little ones....Ty & Umma 💑. I truly love & admire this familia for a life- time to come. Would love to visit them Soon again... 🥹🤗😍🙏🙏🙏

------------------ It was an amazing experience! Jose and Mauro (and their children, Valentino and Sabi) welcomed us incredibly warmly. During peak season, most of our work involved helping them in the kitchen, and sometimes we also helped with tasks outside, like in the garden. Our Spanish was only basic, but Jose and Mauro were very patient and explained all the tasks clearly! We lived with six volunteers in total, in a small house (the original tea house). They gave us the ingredients (including homemade bread and vegetables/salads from their garden) each day to prepare with the other volunteers. In our free time, we went to the lake or the river, depending on the wind, to swim. There were also two (or three) different mountains we could climb—so beautiful! If you want, you can visit other places (for hitchhiking) like the nearby pools. Overall, Meliquina is very peaceful, a place we will always remember, and we hope to return soon!

Les Cattiers was my first workaway experience and I couldn’t of asked for more in the five weeks I stayed with them. Both Helen and Gabi are both superb humans, who are filled to the brim with knowledge, humour and trust. The farm is on a beautiful location with lots of space to roam in the lush, calm hills surrounding the farm. An abundance of fresh vegetables made for incredible, nourishing meals, which were a highlight for me. From other workawayers’ home comforts (sopaipillas), to Gabi’s famous falafels and of course Helen’s never ending array of wonderful jams. I enjoyed learning lots about the process of vegetable cultivation, gaining some manual labour skills, and working outside amongst the greenery. Thank you for making my time here magic. I'm sure I will be back :))

Louse and Marilou helped us immensely with their fresh and brave attitude; always ready for action with joyful and positive mood. They were helping with some heavy duty tasks like digging trenches, planting trees, using pickaxe, removing roots from invasive plants; creating stone pathways, planting veggie seeds, cooking delicious vegan food..They were feeding our cats which is not an easy task as we have 30 of them. 🙂 Marilou and Louise are 5 stars volounteers!!!

What a strong family force there is here! Ben, Leen, Axelle, and Louis — never a dull moment. At its core, this home is built on love and freedom of expression (cue N.W.A.), with an open-minded, unfiltered, and very real family dynamic. Ben and Leen are good-hearted, fun-loving people who genuinely appreciate your contributions, positive presence, and teamwork mindset. These are very hard working individuals and your efforts and initiative are truly valued. Axelle and Louis are a powerhouse of brains and energy, they’re unstoppable. Independent, with two very different but equally impressive music tastes — a fun point of discussion if that’s a passion of yours. Pro-tip: Louis is a BIG fan of cake. Always ask if he would like a piece whenever the opportunity presents itself! My main task was driving Ben on work trips and other adventures with Axelle and Louis to the ice skating rink or a Ghent match… but who would call that a task at all? It was simply great time spent together, this crew enjoys life and I enjoyed it with them. I also bounced around in the garden, shed, doing various tasks around the house. The flexibility offered lots of opportunities to go for bike rides and trips into the city as I preferred. This was an enriching exchange for me in many ways. It was a pleasure getting to help and hang with such fun-loving, authentic people. I highly recommend this exchange! 🌷 Shea Williams

I stayed with Fabrice and Amandine for 2.5 weeks. Although I left earlier than planned, this had nothing to do with the kids—I really enjoyed spending time with them. They are kind, open, and fun to be around. I also appreciated talking with Fabrice about the boat and learning more about its mechanics, as well as rowing the dinghy with the kids and seeing parts of Greece I wouldn’t have otherwise experienced. What ultimately led me to leave early was a lack of clear communication. Due to bad weather, we were sometimes unable to leave the boat, which wasn’t communicated beforehand and made it challenging to have personal time. I was also told we would be sailing almost every day, but in 2.5 weeks we only sailed three times. While I understand weather is unpredictable, this possibility should be emphasized in advance. Communication around workload was also unclear. A schedule was introduced two weeks in but wasn’t always followed, and expectations around cooking, cleaning, and childcare felt inconsistent. Despite conversations about this, I often felt unsure of what was expected of me and how to balance responsibilities with personal time. In addition, the hygiene standards were challenging at times: dishes were washed with ocean water without soap or a sponge, and the shower was a small outdoor misting hose, which was difficult to use in the cold and made daily life on the boat more challenging. What ultimately led to my abrupt departure was a conversation with Amandine on my last day, in which she raised criticisms about my level of contribution that had never been previously communicated. Given the consistent childcare, cleaning, and other support I provided, this feedback felt unfair and dismissive. Raising these concerns only at the point of departure I believe reflected poor hosting practices and a lack of respectful, professional communication toward me as a Workawayer. Overall, I believe clearer expectations, more consistent communication, and a more realistic description of daily life on the boat—especially in winter—would make this a much better Workaway experience in the future.

what a beautiful, peaceful place and kind family!! susana and tom are such intresting people and we've had great conversations from day one. nila and ilai are the cutest. i could help mostly by cooking, cleaning and organising. it was fun and we made lots of things together, while laughing and talking. most of the time the whole family was there and i felt accompanied while working. volunteers have a casita right next to their house, you're close but have your own space. it's in the middle of the woods and in walking distance there's a river. it's an amazing place!

Nick came to us with his friend Elijah at a last minute and stayed for a month. We were very happy to host the guys and had a lot of fun. Both of them worked very hard on many different projects, a lot of very physical tasks (sooo much digging). We shared fun evening meals, campfires, board games and much more. It was a pleasure to have them here and we are super thankful for all the hard work they did here. They also helped us cooking meals and are very thoughtful and helpful. We 100% recommend them and hope they come visit us again in the future!

Emily and Steph are great volunteers, always happy to help out with any work tasks we had on at the time as well as house tasks. They are very thoughtful, helpful, understanding, easy going and great fun to host. Some of the most physically demanding tasks may have been a little challenging for them at times but they gave it their everything, did the best they can, always with a smile and we hope enjoyed themselves :) We shared lovely evenings, playing cards and sharing meals. It was a pleasure to host them and we recommend for them 100%!

I had a wonderful and unforgettable time at the Hostel in Penang. Every volunteer was given a reasonable work schedule, and the work was really light, so we had plenty of time to explore the city. The atmosphere here is fantastic—sometimes the manager would take us on scooter trips to enjoy various scenic spots. Everyone here is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay longer due to some personal matters. I will definitely miss this place!

Levon stayed with us twice in 2025. He was always punctual. He did his job perfectly and worked hard. He was clean and tidy. He was pleasant and friendly to talk to. He was a delicious cook. Levon often made desserts and happily shared them with his colleagues and me. I recommend Levon to other hosts.

I spent 3 weeks by Berit & Steinar in July of 2025. During the first half of my stay, my sister joined me as well. Our main tasks were to walk the cute family dog, Step, we also helped a bit around the farm and the fields, and I fed the lambs. Besides these, sometimes I cut the grass and we did some painting in the barn, too. I enjoyed all these tasks because the lambs were so nice and we walked with Step in such beautiful and stunning nature. In my free time I went for a few hikes in the mountains. Berit, Steinar and Sunniva helped me a lot and gave me many ideas where I should go. I was so lucky because the weather was so hot and sunny during these 3 weeks. I was able to go swimming in the fjord several times and they also took me for a boat ride to discover the stunning Fyksesund. We ate together every day, Berit’s homemade bread and rolls are the best in the world! She also showed us, how to bake the traditional crisp bread, it is still such a precious memory. We also ate a lot of fish and I learned how to cook it easily at home as well. Everyone was so nice and friendly, they took very good care of me and helped me a lot. We had a fantastic time and it was such an amazing experience. We're so glad we have gotten to know all these wonderful people and could spend a few weeks in such a breathtaking, magical part of Norway!

Martino is a delightful volunteer, very pleasant, easy to get along with, a great cook... as you'd expect from an Italian... a good plumber, a good companion to other volunteers, enthusiastic, and involved. He represents the best anyone could hope for. He's a great traveler, and although he's very young, he has personal qualities that make me think we're dealing with someone who's going to have a fantastic life. He embodies pure joy and is full of energy and vitality. You can come back whenever you want.

Sacha is an excellent house sitter. She stayed at the farm for more than a month and took excellent care of the animals and the house. Sacha is very hands-on and easy going, very good communication from the first contact. Do not think twice if she reaches out. She is forever welcome at ours.
