    Description

We operate a therapeutic horseback riding program for people with a disability. Lessons run May - August. Our program is a fun and rewarding environment if you enjoy people and horses! Intermediate-advanced horse experience and/or experience in working with people are required for these months.

In March-May we are looking for Helpers to work with and prepare our therapy horses for lessons that start at the end of May. For these months we look for people with horse handling and horse care experience.
From end of May-early August we run lessons 3-4 days / week. Helpers will prepare arena for lessons, and either help in lessons as a horse leader or sidewalker.

Outside of lesson and prep months we look for helpers too. Other jobs may include exterior painting, facility maintenance and small projects. In these month, Helpers should enjoy time alone, as we only have accommodation for one or for a couple.

All year around Helpers will prepare buckets and feed horses. Experienced riders will have opportunity to ride, walk and do groundwork with the horses.

    Fluency in English is required.

During the summer months, Helpers help with lessons and lesson preparation, preparing feed buckets, feeding, grooming and exercising horses, and general facility maintenance. Projects could include fixing fences, painting, moving hay bales, gardening, cleaning tack, watering plants and looking after a small vegetable garden.

Outside of lesson months, duties are preparing feed buckets, feeding, grooming and exercising horses . Projects could include clearing deadfall, piling and burning brush piles, moving hay bales, light construction, general facility maintenance.

Winter months are quieter and there may not be enough things to do to get your hours, depending on weather and that's ok. Duties are preparing feed buckets, feeding, getting horses out when possible, and snow clearing and keeping gates clear of snow.
