I stayed nearly a month. I was made to feel welcome and was fortunate as power had just been restored from a neighbour when I arrived. The next day two lovely Norwegians helped replace the water pipes, so we could fill the tanks and also fill the pool! I’ve used a top loading machine, so washed lots volunteer and guest sheets and host laundry. I also planted fruit and vegetables. I’m a wildlife volunteer, so was able to relocate amphibians to safety from being washed down the pool drains. I found it challenging to sleep in a tent for 3 weeks, and also without power, so it will be memorable, as will the amazing animal and birdlife. I wish them well with their many projects.

This was my very first Workaway experience, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better one. My main task was taking care of the sweetest dog, Snips. She is such a loving dog, it was truly a joy to spend time with her every day. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. From the moment I arrived, I felt comfortable and at home. Even though I only stayed for a short week, the experience was really meaningful and special to me. I’m very grateful for their trust and hospitality. Thank you for such a lovely first Workaway experience!

Maki & Gen are such fabulous ambassadors for Japan - and Japanese culture! The sense of respect they brought to everything in daily life was so special to witness… I am so grateful to have spent time with them both. ADORED! The meals they cooked for us ~ DELICIOUS! … (& I apologies again for Craig’s sh*tty GF muffins 🤭) All the gardening tasks were tackled head-on - even when the weather was challenging! I wish them all the best with the journey ahead.

Best workaway I could imagine!! Thank you so much Georgie and Harry for making my first workaway experience better than I had hoped. They went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable and happy throughout my stay and always entertained my thousand questions about their family and life in Scotland. I absolutely loved getting to see the nearby towns and lochs, meeting their friends and family, and exploring the gorgeous paths near the house. Their boys are so sweet and playful and never failed to make me laugh and teach me new games. The whole family made me feel very much a part of the wonderful home they’ve made and I am so grateful for my time with them. The “work” included cooking, playing with the boys, taking 9 month old Jeanie on walks, helping out with small things around the house! What a truly amazing family living in one of the most beautiful places in the world. I so hope to be back someday and have already recommended them to all of my friends if they’re headed towards the UK for awhile. Thank you for everything!!

The hostel hosted me for a one week working experience and I had a good time. The staff is very friendly and made the integration very easy going even if my Spanish is not the best. My tasks were mostly front desk work at the reception. The common areas are spacious and welcoming.

I came to voulenteer from end of January and stayed almost 4 weeks until the end of February. Gonzalo made me feel very welcome ! and the communication with him was great even before I got to Costa Rica. He really helped me with any questions I had. Since the first day there I felt very comfortable. I enjoyed socializing with the gusests and the other voulenteer. The hostel is beautiful and located in a quiet place surrounded by jungle. you get to see a lot of animals here and you are within walking distance to the beach, supermarkets and restaurants. I would start my days with a delicious breakfast made with lots of love by Gonzalo. I worked the morning shift and had enough time at noon to explore the area and enjoy myself. The work was easy for me and the vibe is very chill. Gonzalo is an amazing host, I had such a great time here and I will miss this place and the people I met here so much! I Highly recommend this place!!

We had such a nice time in Biougra!! Mohammed is a very lovely person who made the experience so nice and wonderful!! Teaching was so much fun and the students were very friendly and eager to learn. We enjoyed our time a lot experiencing the town and doing trips with Mohammed and his friends. We can recommend this experience for everyone who really wants to know Moroccan culture and life! Hope to see you again one day Mohammed & Biougra!:))

I spent one month at Daniele’s place, and what I appreciated the most was his humanity, empathy, and understanding. I was impressed by the passion he puts into the project and into every activity he carries out. You can truly feel that everything he does comes from a place of love, which was very inspiring for me. I’m also very grateful for Daniele’s openness, flexibility, and kindness — it made the experience feel even more welcoming and genuine. During my stay, I mainly helped with weeding, gardening, and some small maintenance tasks. Unfortunately, the weather was often quite bad, so there were days when we couldn’t do much outside. Since it was winter, the atmosphere was quieter than usual. At first this felt a bit uncomfortable, but over time I grew to really appreciate the calm and slower rhythm. The place itself is still evolving and in the process of being built, so there aren’t many comforts yet. However, this wasn’t a problem for me — it felt like being part of something that is growing and developing, which made the experience even more meaningful.

Maëlle is a very kind and respectful girl who integrated quickly into farm life. She adapted easily to our simple lifestyle and participated seriously in the daily activities. She was open-minded, positive, and willing to learn new things. Even if the language was a small challenge at the beginning, we quickly found a way to communicate and collaborate effectively. We appreciated her good energy and her involvement both in the work and in the community life. She respected the house rules and contributed to a harmonious atmosphere.

I was very lucky to spend two weeks here and experience both sides of the project. During my first week, I stayed at the site in the tiny house and helped on the land, and during the second week I stayed at JP’s house as a vegan cook. Even though we had initially agreed on cooking for both weeks, we adapted along the way, and this arrangement turned out to be a really positive and enriching experience. Jean-Philippe communicates very clearly and makes sure you understand what is needed, so you always have good instructions and support. I also really appreciated being called “the chef” for the first time — especially since this was my very first community cooking experience. The house is full of amazing cats, each with their own personality, and I absolutely loved every single one of them. The kitchen is beautifully renovated, practical, and easy to work in, and the bathrooms were also being renovated during my stay, which made the living conditions very comfortable. JP is deeply dedicated to what he is building and leads a very busy life, so I was happy to be able to contribute and help, even for a short time. I truly hope to visit again in the future and see how the project continues to grow with the help of other volunteers. Very Niiiiiice :)

Juarez is a man full with amazing ideas, what he sets his mind to will be done. He works with what he can get his hands on and it is wonderful to see what he can accomplish with the tools and materials he has. The location is truly amazing and when he has finished his current project I am sure it will be a great place to stay, live and work. He is very patient in explaining things and trying to learn me the Spanish language, he really tried his best to help me learn the language and sometimes had to repeat words many many times before I finally remember them. I enjoyed the stay and company.

Last late summer, I spent almost two weeks with Clare, Ben, Bella and Tilly, and it honestly became one of those experiences I’ll always remember. Even now, I still miss the beautiful place and the family who made me feel so welcome in such a short amount of time. I honestly don’t even know how you did it, but you made me feel completely at home from the very first moment I arrived. 🤍 The place is perfect for relaxing and spending time in nature. I was able to help around the house, do some cooking, work in the garden, and we even harvested the grapes together, which was a lot of fun. At the same time, I still had plenty of time to take Luna and Alfred for long walks or explore the city Pontevedra. Clare and Ben are the most generous hosts I can imagine. They invited me for a wine or a nice dinner whenever we were out of the house, showed me around, and even drove me to the beach so I could go surfing. I was also able to continue working my remote job without any problems. Before coming, I thought I would depend more on buses and public transport since I usually like to explore different areas. But the house and the surroundings are so lovely that I ended up spending most of my time there. Bella and Tilly are the loveliest girls and amazing cooks (almost as good as Ben 😉). I’m very sure I’ll come back one day to play more board games with the family, see more of the area around Pontevedra, take Luna and Alfred for a run, do Yoga and go for a swim in the pool, have good conversations and try even more new vegan recipes. Thank you so much 💫 Franzi

Where should I start... Sasha's and Ying's home was truly the highlight of my trip in Pai. I spent two amazing weeks, trying to help wherever I could. I enjoyed Sasha's workflow a lot, there was no pressure at all and everyday was different. If you're an flexible person who doesn't need a perfectly typed out schedule but rather a go with the flow energy, you will feel just fine. Sasha has many ideas and projects which can indeed result in a bit of chaotic communication but as long as you keep an open mind and simply ask him what can be done, he will find a project for you or ask to join his. I could tell he appreciated independence, which I found a great challenge for myself. From cutting bamboo to transplanting tomato plants to moving sand to creating with AI and glueing pipes, there is something for everyone as long as you keep an open mind and attitude. If you truly try to connect to the place and the people, Sasha's and Ying's appreciation for the volunteers is shown through the little things. His home was and is all about connections. Somehow he knows how to bring and attract the right people together. Since I don't ride a scooter I hopped on the back of other volunteers which is cheap for everyone when you decide to rent a scooter from Sasha. But even hitchhiking during the day was very easy and safe. I enjoyed being away from town, connecting to locals and discovering cheap hidden gems for food and drinks close to the place. I will look back with the biggest smile on our evenings watching the mesmerizing sunset, having bbq around the fire, listening to music and laughing. Hope to see you again Sasha and Ying, until then I wish you guys all the best. Much love, take care. ~

I had a lovely time with the families in San Fabian. Everyone here is super friendly, welcoming and helpful and you can learn a lot from each of them. The land and the surroundings are really beautiful, a little paradise. The work was good fun, always something different to do and the shared lunches were super tasty and healthy. In your free time you can explore the amazing surroundings - swim in the river, go hiking, climbing, go for a bike ride into town or just relax and enjoy this peaceful place. If you're interested in eco-construction, permaculture, sustainable living within a beautiful small community, I can highly recommend this Workaway. Gracias por todo! Espero verte de nuevo. Buena suerte con el resto de la construcción :)

Federico and Sofia stayed with us just after Christmas, slightly disappointed over lack of snow, we did get a little towards the end of their stay. Their main task while here was plasterring a chimney and stable walls. They showed us some cooking, which was a good thing, as preparing vegan meals is not one of our stronger suits We enjoyed their company, and wish them all the best

I had the greatest time teaching English in Phnom Penh. Noah and his wife Kheng took me in short notice as another Workaway position in the country side fell through last minute. They are both such wonderful and loving people and went above and beyond to make my time with them the best experience in Phnom Penh ever. They just started this English school a few months ago and considering that the whole operation is so young and knowing how much work must have gone into starting it, I was positively surprised how well it is organised and received by the students. I was able to teach adults and children alike and enjoyed every minute. Noah prepares every class with utmost dedication to detail. Everything you need for class is there. Noah will support you every step of the way. In case you're nervous or have no teaching experience, he will be by your side always present to assist if needed, which made it so comfortable for me to work my way into getting more and more confident also teaching by myself. For absolute beginners Kheng is always there to assist with translation making it so much easier to get students started learning English. Plus, she's a wonderful cook, providing the most delicious Cambodian dishes. Be warned, it's so good you'll have a hard time not to gain weight. Accommodation is simple but sufficient, the working hours extremely fair. Over all I can only highly recommend Noah and Kheng as hosts to everyone looking to experience Cambodian culture while enjoying time with wonderful hosts in the vibrant capital city. I consider myself very lucky to have made friends with Noah and Kheng and can not say thank you enough for being such wonderful hosts ♥️🙏

Yuri stayed with us for two weeks. He was truly very helpful to our family. He is a very clean and careful person. He helped my children, my wife, and me a lot during his stay. We also spent a really nice time together. We watched movies, talked, and had great conversations. It felt like we spent two weeks together as a small family. We were very happy to host Yuri and we are very satisfied with his stay. We would be glad to host him again and we definitely recommend him to other hosts.
