    Description

We are a young family living in an ancient Scottish castle steeped with history some of which inspired tv drama Outlander. The castle is situated in the highlands where you will be surrounded by beautiful walks namely the Reelig Glen often known as the ‘Fairy Glen’ which homes some of the tallest trees in Northern Europe as well as other spots for adventure. We have 2 young boys aged 4 and 5 and a baby girl who is now 8 months.

Workawayers will be able to immerse themselves in the beauty of the highland landscape. There are many stunning walks in the area or running routes. They will also have the chance to discover Scottish music if desired. Inverness is only a 20 minute drive away and the capital of the highlands so workawayers can also go in and explore the city which includes a beautiful castle, a river and shopping as well as cafes and restaurants. We are also about a 30 minute drive from the banks of Loch Ness where the famous Loch Ness Monster is said to live. Workawayers can see if they will be the lucky ones to spot the monster from the legend themselves!
As part of our clan, we have our own family traditions including the wearing of tartan. There is also a long history in the castle including what inspired the tv show ‘Outlander’. The castle used to produce wines, jams and jellies with local produce and that is also part of the history. We have ancient stones said to be thousands of years old taken from ancient stone circles.
We hope workawayers will come and learn about family life in Scotland, discover new places, immerse themselves in beautiful nature and learn about life in the countryside and life as a family. They will learn Scottish traditions and be able to practice the language. We look forward to welcoming you!
