    Description

This year, we’re excited to continue transforming our home and garden into an even more vibrant, welcoming, and functional space – and we’d love for you to be part of this journey! Over the past few years, with the incredible help of Workawayers, we’ve achieved so much together. From building a sauna tent that’s now a cozy retreat to enhancing our outdoor areas with creative touches, every project has been a collaboration full of laughter, shared meals, and stories from around the world.

This year’s big focus is upgrading our cherished treehouse. It’s already a favorite spot for kids and adults alike, and now we want to make it even more special. Whether it’s a fresh coat of paint, a few creative repairs, or adding those whimsical details that make it magical, there’s plenty to get involved with! We’re also planning to build a brand-new composting area to support our sustainable living goals while nurturing our garden into a flourishing haven.

Life on our little homestead revolves around our happy flock of chickens, and we’d love your help raising some new ones and keeping our current feathered residents healthy and content. Then there’s our lively dog, who is always up for a good walk, some training, and, of course, a bit of love and attention. Around the house, there are lots of little projects to tackle, like painting our staircase with colorful flair to disguise those inevitable toddler fingerprints or pitching in with day-to-day tasks to keep everything running smoothly. We’re also working on upgrading our fences to ensure both the dog and the chickens are safe and happy in their respective zones.

Our previous Workaway guests have not only made a lasting impact on our projects but have also left behind a trail of wonderful memories. Together, we’ve cooked meals, shared laughter, and exchanged cultural insights, creating a truly unique experience for everyone involved. While we ask for a minimum stay of one week, we’d love for you to stay two or three weeks if possible, giving you the chance to fully immerse yourself in our rhythm and see the results of your efforts firsthand.

So, if you’re ready to roll up your sleeves, embrace some fun, and leave your mark on a lively, creative household, we’d be thrilled to have you join us. Let’s build, paint, garden, and laugh our way to an even better home – together!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying with us offers a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in a blend of cultural exchange, hands-on learning, and meaningful connections. We believe that shared meals are the heart of any home, so we gather around the table to enjoy delicious food, share stories, and exchange ideas. In the evenings, we often unwind with a beer or tea, talking about everything from the projects we're working on to our travel adventures and dreams.

You'll have the chance to learn practical skills, from sustainable gardening and DIY construction to caring for animals and creating something beautiful from scratch. Beyond that, you'll experience the rhythm of life in Austria, surrounded by nature and a welcoming community. We love to exchange languages, customs, and perspectives, so you'll leave not only with new skills but also with fresh insights and friendships.

This is a space for creativity, teamwork, and laughter – where every day brings something new to learn or appreciate. Whether it’s mastering a recipe, picking up a few words in German, or simply connecting over shared experiences, your time here will be as enriching as it is memorable.

✨ With the help of our incredible workawayers, we’ve tackled some amazing projects already and turned our ideas into reality:

    🌿💚

🪟🏚We built a greenhouse on top of our potato cellar using old windows! Recycling magic at its finest.
🎨🧱 Transformed a plain white wall into a colorful masterpiece.
🐶💪 Helped train and exercise our energetic puppy, keeping her healthy and happy.
🔧🛠 Sorted out our tool collection into an organized treasure trove of DIY essentials.
🥕🥦🌽 Added more raised beds to our garden and planted a bounty of veggies!
🐺🏡 Built a cozy home for our puppy.
💧⛲ Installed an automatic irrigation system with rainwater storage to keep our plants thriving.
🐓🌱 Built a sturdy fence to keep our mischievous chickens away from the crops.
⛩️🪓 Constructed outdoor shelves to expand our storage.
😊🍖 Pimped an incredible outdoor kitchen we snagged for free – now it’s perfect for al fresco dining!
🏕🎪🧖‍♀️ Built an outdoor shower and transformed our sauna tent into a summer paradise.
🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️ Turned a patch of wilderness into a magical fairy-tale place.
🌳🛖 Created an epic treehouse and a walking path high above the garden.
🐟🐠 Converted IBC containers into a functioning aquaponic system.
🐓🦕 Built more chicken coops to keep our feathery dinosaurs safe from our playful pup.
🏋‍♂️💪 Designed an outdoor gym with a rainproof roof to keep our equipment dry.
.🐑🌲 Insulated the treehouse using sheep wool and old wood for a rustic, cozy vibe.
✨🏞 Laid marble tiles under the treehouse for a chic terrace.
🌳✂️ Pruned trees and prepared the garden for winter’s embrace.
📚🖌 Decorated a room with child-friendly art to welcome new tiny humans.
🛠🚪 Finished building that unfinished kitchen shelf that was calling for attention.
🐥🐣 Built a chicken baby nursery in the garage to keep the little ones warm and safe.
🔧💪 Got our hands dirty sorting out the chaos in the garage.

    🌊 Ongoing Projects:
🏞🦫 Cleaning the river near our home, so we can swim with our beaver neighbors (yes, really!).
🔨🔥 Kickstarting our forge for blacksmithing fun – who doesn’t want to try their hand at making tools?
🪵🔥 Building more structures to store firewood to keep us warm during winter.
🌱🏠 Upgrading the treehouse (paint the outside walls and fix the roof)
     🐓🌱Creating a composting area
🎨🧱 Painting our staircase (toddler-proof style!).

We’ve achieved so much, but there’s always more fun to be had! Come join us and leave your mark on this dynamic, creative, and ever-evolving space. 🛠✨🐓
