    Description

We’re two families living together as a small community 🏡💫 — each of us with a curious, lively 1½-year-old toddler 👶👶. Life here is full of play, laughter, shared meals, and creative projects, and we’d love to welcome you into our daily rhythm. Every day we cook together 🍲🥗, sit around the table, and share stories — and our Workawayers have always become part of that big, warm circle.

This season, there are plenty of things you can bring your hands and heart to. Our sauna tent 🧖‍♀️ could use some upgrading so it’s even cozier for long winter evenings. The garden 🌿 needs to be made winterproof and we’d love your help with pruning the thickets around and inside it 🍃. There’s also a new wood storage space to be built 🔨, and our entrance area is waiting for some creative decoration to finally feel as welcoming as the rest of our home 🎨✨.

Besides the projects, there’s everyday life on our little homestead: caring for our happy flock of chickens 🐓, taking our friendly dog 🐕 for walks, and of course helping with the small things that keep a household buzzing with toddlers running around 😉.

Our previous Workawayers often told us they didn’t just come for the projects but stayed for the sense of belonging ❤️. We ask for at least a week’s stay, though two or three weeks are even better so you can really experience the flow of life here and see your work take shape.

So if you’d like to spend some time in a lively community where we cook, laugh, build, and create together, we’d be thrilled to welcome you 🤗🌸.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying with us offers a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in a blend of cultural exchange, hands-on learning, and meaningful connections. We believe that shared meals are the heart of any home, so we gather around the table to enjoy delicious food, share stories, and exchange ideas. In the evenings, we often unwind with a beer or tea, talking about everything from the projects we're working on to our travel adventures and dreams.

You'll have the chance to learn practical skills, from sustainable gardening and DIY construction to caring for animals and creating something beautiful from scratch. Beyond that, you'll experience the rhythm of life in Austria, surrounded by nature and a welcoming community. We love to exchange languages, customs, and perspectives, so you'll leave not only with new skills but also with fresh insights and friendships.

This is a space for creativity, teamwork, and laughter – where every day brings something new to learn or appreciate. Whether it’s mastering a recipe, picking up a few words in German, or simply connecting over shared experiences, your time here will be as enriching as it is memorable.

    Help

This season, we’d love your help with some exciting projects. Our sauna tent is ready for an upgrade to make it extra cozy for winter evenings. The garden needs to be prepared for the colder months, including pruning the thickets inside and around it. We’re also building a new wood storage space and want to transform the garden entrance into a welcoming and creative spot. And, as always, we’re continuing our little mission of cleaning the nearby river so we can share it with our beaver neighbors.

    What we’ve already done

With the help of past Workawayers, we’ve turned many ideas into reality. A greenhouse built from old windows, a colorful mural on what was once a plain wall, and a treehouse with a sky-walk above the garden are just some of the highlights. We’ve expanded the vegetable beds, set up rainwater irrigation, built homes and coops for our animals, and created magical places like a fairy-tale corner in the garden, an outdoor shower, and a cozy sauna retreat.
