Better late than never… here’s my feedback from an amazing 2022 Workaway stay. I stayed at Miriam’s albergue in September 2022, and it’s an experience I still remember because it was truly wonderful. Miriam and Danilo are amazing people ❤️ they’ve both traveled a lot and have a special sensitivity. While they’re very sociable, they’re also respectful of personal space and value their privacy. Their home is beautiful, lovingly restored, and full of thoughtful details. I can honestly say they are the kind of friends this platform can give you. Thanks to them, I met friendly Workawayers who became friends, as well as many of their friends, with whom we enjoyed outings, meals, a few beers, and plenty of laughter. Without a doubt, it’s an experience I would recommend to anyone who enjoys small towns and has an open heart and mind.

Malte is a talented designer from germany. He worked really hard to finish the furniture we were working on. As a person, he is very respectful and empathetic. I recommend him as a volunteer!!

Our workaway with Fiona and Peter was wonderful! We worked hard in the garden/on the farm and were treated with very delicious and fresh food right from the garden/farm. Fiona and Peter have a lovely farm next to the ocean and lots of stuff to do after your work is done - either relax in the garden with a stunning landscape or ride the bikes on their limestone biketour. You definitely wont get bored!

Noe is a very respectful and empathetic guy. He helped us a lot at the hostel and made a super cool mural at the main entrance. We shared with 2 other volunteers at the same time, we cooked together, played cards and other games. I highly recommend him as a volunteer.

Marcelo is a rare and wonderful person. Tremendously skilled and happy to help. He's one of those people that just loves to contribute and he does just that. Marcelo is a self-described "workaholic." But he stopped working in pursuit of money and instead he's traveling the world and helping other people along the way. In the past he owned a marina and a heavy equipment trucking company. So he knows how to fix and maintain machinery. He helped us with our tractor, mower, chainsaws and other small engines. I also really enjoyed conversing with Marcelo. His first language is Portuguese and he also speaks fluent Spanish. He and I would speak together in Spanish sometimes and English other times. He's still learning English and uses his phone to translate words or phrases he doesn't already know. He helped me learn more Spanish and I helped him learn more English and we communicated well together. He also took the time to teach me more about engine mechanics and maintaining machinery. But he's happy to help with everything. He did a fair amount of landscaping including removing weed trees by hand and hauling brush. Marcelo loves learning, too. So if you have something to teach or share, he'd love to know about it. He's welcome back anytime, again and again.

Annalea`s help was amazing, no matter how hard the tasks were, she was always willing to help and eager to learn, she helped us to improve a lot both monkey safari hostel and Casa Tuna the new hostel we just opened, with great ideas we applied together. She has the loveliest personality always willing to get to know new people and to help in whatever was needed with a smile on her face, Everyone staff and guest were very thankful for. I can`t recommed Annalea enough for any kind of project you might have.

Where do I begin! Staying with Nico was my first ever Workaway experience, and I don’t think it could’ve gone any better. He’s exceptionally kind (both to guests and volunteers), funny, communicative, caring, passionate and knowledgeable about the place he lives in, a great cook, and all around an amazing person. I stayed with Nico for about a month, and at the end of it I am very fortunate to call him a friend! The work in the hostel is not demanding — mostly some basic cleaning and chatting to guests (there are many cool ones!). You definitely have to like being in a social environment, and meeting many people. In your days off there is tons to do around Puerto Natales and in Torres del Paine. Nico was very helpful in sharing tips about hikes around the area as well. I went on some cycle rides (there are bikes at the hostel), and did the W trek at the end of my trip. The location is very convenient in proximity to the bus station also, and the downtown is about 15 mins away. All in all, my experience was really great and I am genuinely sad to leave. I recommend this place to anyone. See you soon Nico, thanks for everything!

We went at Korina in december with idea to stay until at least begining of january 2026. We met Korina in front of Lidl, near Argostoli and she was very nice. Next day it was a liitle bit rainy so she said to be relaxed and this was also very rare in people :). After that I started cleaning the olives around roots and up as they were full of seedlings, like bushes. In first day of activity I cleared by hand 7 of them. Next day a friend of K. came to show me more about good pruning of olives in the upper / superior parts of olives and also we tried the electric chainsaw. I added another 9 big olives to the list of clean ones :). The work was sometime very slow as some of them had plants with thornes between, like a spider web and the chainsaw cannot be used. In the 4th day afternoon, when I was at the 7th centenary olive, Korina came from town with the bought food and her friend and told me that her father is sick and ask me how fast can I leave... We left after 4 days, in the 9th day of our stay of our wrkw and Korina was very kind to bring us to Argostoli and gave as 250 euro as reimbursement for our travel costs we spent from Corfu to Kefalonia. The accomodation - house is very beautifull and modern, with everything, we didn't need to heat it in december. The property and the area are also beautifull. 3 km to a small beautifull beach. We used the bikes. Lidl is 8 km away whith uphill / downhill - 40-50 min on bike if you are fit. Argostoli 10-12 km. Wish you happy 2026!

I hosted Shain for only one week in january for a last minute need. She immediatly ask about the tasks to do and I fastly saw a working person and a respectful woman. She interacted easily with my kids and even found some english exercises for them. The kids loved her. We loved doing dumplings together and play board games. I could easily recommand her.

Carmen, thank you for your trust and for having offering me a confortable shelter with your two lovely dogs for 10 days. Even before I started my "mission" Carmen let me feel like I was part of the family. And I actually had the chance to met some of them ! I learned how to make Paella with her mother. And I really enjoyed the moment at the peña with her sister ! Carmen has a big heart. For her dogs but also for the people who come to her cute litlle house. She is a strong and indépendante woman and I will keep her in mind as a model. Carmen I hope one day you will be my guest and I could treat you as good as you did 🙏 BIG HUGS to Canela y Pastora 💛

We only spend two days together, but in the short time Antonio helped a lot with the renovation of the old house in Cares to get it closed for the winter. He spend some of the coldest days here (no doors in the house yet and temperatures untill 11 degrees below zero) Would have liked to go climbing with him on a warm and sunny day. Maybe next time.

We stayed at Zoran 2 weeks in october 2025 and over all it was an ok experience for us, as we are adapted to. The best points: The good soul Zoran took us from trainstation and also when we left he was very kind to drive us to Pula at hostel. We had bikes and we went to Pula 3 times in 2 weeks. We had fruits (apples, pears) for morning (and last days + jujula) and almost every evening food cooked by Zoran. We also had potatoes and pasta few times to cook ourselfs. We did 2 days clearing tomato plants, aeration of soil - prepare the plot for next cultivation, 5 days picking olives (with wrkws Miranda and James also - they made time more enjoyable and funny) and few days we cleared gras from other parts and helping to put glass doors for future greenhouse. He responded on emails and sms es and after some minor misunderstandings we comunicate very well. He is calm and relaxed about work - usually we started at 10. The profile need updates so I will point some ideas to have a better image to know if it will suit you. Things that can be much better :D:). The plot is full around of materials and stuff (much more that an wrkw said few years ago in a feedback) and most incovenient in my opinion are polyurethanic panels that lay in the sun and do dust that polute the plot and environement (such a pity for your beautifull land). Also a lot of plastics and polystyrene doing micloplastics and other negative stuff and also many, many tyres - some people love tyres :) -such a pity again for garden land and olives... The mosquitos… 20+ bytes in first day :)), than it was easier as weather became colder and they probably went to sleep.. but not all of them of course. And they have a paradise there as everywhere are buckets with standing water and places like mini swamps – and Zoran do nothing about as he is immune to them or they love him :)))... . The caravans need some updates. In one night a rat was very hungy or something that between 2-6 in the morning started to eat cardboard of one of the boxes from the stuff in the caravan and was really noisy :))) and very very stubborn as he wasn't afraid that I will find him :)). No electricity (you can put the cables used for tools (if it is not raining), water or heating in the caravan, 2 of our 3 free days were in the rainy ones… Some other points for info as some people do not care about or care too much :)): One "toilet" is near the plot, in the field near the trees, where you will dig a hole than cover it – also the best medical / natural position to poop (truly, not irony). The other one in a bad projected compost toilet with a plastic box beneath and too little space - it was sometime ago projected also with shower, but now is full with materials and useless or "must to be recycled” stuff. We didn't worked any specific permaculture projects and it wasn't a focus for garden and planting organic food. Nothing about natural building as it was in profle written 5-6 years ago. Cats to close to all dishes, I mean on the same table and when raining, water in outside kichen will go on the dishes from that roof. For some people without hepathitis A imunization toxoplasmoza or toxocara canis it can be an issue. Our last day it was theoretically free and we picked olives. Other things good to know: The shower is near the sink of outside kitchen, in october water is really cold. There are 12 km maybe to Pula but 16-18 to the beaches so you will make 30 min biking until entrance of Pula and another 30 until first rocky beach. Some small segments you will need to be on national road. The villages roads are narrow and has no white lines or reflective points - cars every 2-3 minutes. When you come back it is almost all and constant uphill like 10-15% inclination, you will manage, but you will not be happy going everyday :D. It is a place with such a big potential and it is a pitty that lack of motivation (which is understandable), time, force and lack of organisation are against. I repeat, for us it was an ok experience, we learned something and we saw another point of view regarding course of life. For a more beautifull life, more fulfilled, more enjoyable and for the next generation I will say as an idea to accept more help for more wrkwrs because you have tremendous resources that you aren’t aware and they will do a more sustainable activity for you. They will cover their expenses by their work… Go full organic and read Glucose revolution, Lifespan, Metabolical ... it will add 10+ healthy years to your life and help others too – we have just one life! Wish you good luck, health and hapiness and thank you!

My stay with Emma and her family on the west coast of Ireland was absolutely wonderful. From the very first day, I felt welcome and comfortable. The family has two active and creative boys who love spending time outdoors, which made the experience lively and fun. In addition, there are a few chickens, a playful dog, and a cat, which really added to the charm of everyday life there. My own accommodation was very comfortable, spacious, and offered plenty of privacy, which I really appreciated. The working hours were always fair and clearly arranged. Communication was excellent, and the family was very flexible and considerate when it came to personal needs and scheduling. The surroundings were very rural but incredibly beautiful. The beach was only a 10-minute walk away, which was amazing. There was also a bus connection to the next town, and whenever that wasn’t possible, the family always made sure I could get there, even driving me themselves if needed. Overall, it was an unforgettable stay and a truly special time. I am very grateful for this experience, wish the family all the best for the future, will definitely stay in touch, and hope to see them again someday.

This workaway experience was really one of the kind and I will never forget it. The practical matters are already mentioned by other references of Simon and Loic and Tanguy and I agree with them 100%. Maybe just know that they actually need the help. This is not a volunteering where you just wonder around in a YOLO style without a will and strenght to do a physical work. I spent a week with Marlene and Toto and I was very happy and comfortable at their home and I hope I will visit them again. I only regret my spanish was not good enough to understand all of Toto's stories and jokes. Marlene is very kind and heartwarming person, also very inspiring as a woman with all her skills. They are both very strong and hardworking. Spending time with them and seeing them do everything by themselves with very little help and technique you realize (or I did), that you probably wouldn't survive without all the modern things we are used to nowadays. Gracias Marlene y Toto I already miss you ♥️

I spent about three weeks with Ali and Martina, only mending nets for the olive harvest. While they were friendly hosts, the work was very boring and monotonous. The house is located in a small village with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean coast. I had my own flat with a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and a private terrace, which was a big plus. We sometimes had dinner together and went on short trips to the surrounding countryside and the seaside. However, there were several issues that affected my stay. In October, the area suffers from severe water shortages due to a lack of rain. This meant very limited access to water for showering and washing — during almost a month, I was only able to shower four times. This situation was not clearly communicated beforehand. This was also the only Workaway where I had to pay for part of my food. Breakfast was never included, and for some dinners I had to provide my own meals. Additionally, the agreed workload changed: before arrival thry wrote in their profile five working days per week with three to four hours per day, but once I started, I was asked to work six days a week for four hours a day. Overall, the location and accommodation were very nice, but due to the monotonous work, water restrictions, additional food costs, and changes to the agreed schedule, the experience did not fully meet my expectations.

We had a wonderful experience with Mara coming to stay and help us. I am a single mom with a baby and 2 pets. Mara swooped in on short notice when I had some plans fall through, and her stay was such a gift. She was with us for 10 weeks. She took lots of initiative to help with things for the baby and around the house. She genuinely enjoys cooking, which was such a treat ( lasagna, curry, norwegian cinnamon rolls....yum). Mara is wise and mature beyond her years, and communicates well. We really enjoyed her company.

I spent several days with Carol-Ann and Peter during last holidays at Couloumé-Mondebat, I helped them with general maintenance and gardening. It was a great experience. Thank you very much, and I wish you the best of luck with your projects.
