    Description

Currently we are looking for for people who would like to do some housesitting during winter (November until January). During that time you would need to feed cat, empty letter box , check that fencing is intact and pump out water from a tank for used water by means of immersible pump.

Hi all, we are Martina (originally from Germany) and Ali and have been rebuilding a small stone house in a beautiful little village in the National Park of Cilento, 5 km from the Mediterannean. The property around the house is 4000 m2 with 2 wells, a lot of olive trees, citrus/orange and fig trees as well as other fruit bearing trees.

We would need some help with DIY tasks around the house and maintenance of the garden
(cutting grass, pruning trees, harvesting fruit and olives) - especially at olive harvesting time. We also would like to build a garden shed and some small walls.

I am fluent in German and English and also speak some Italian, Ali speaks German, Turkish and a little bit of Italian. We are easy-going and passionate about nature and plants. Ali is a very experienced gardener and he is also a film maker.

Opportunity to learn about pruning olive and fruit trees, as well as the harvesting and conserving of olives and other fruits such as figs, lemons etc. Workawayers also would have the chance to experience life in a traditional Italian village and learn about Italian cooking. Also guests could improve English and German language skills.

Could also use help for building a garden shed, simple car port and some small walls for terrace and garden and setting up a system for irrigation. Also we would like to build a kitchen cabinet with some shelves. General technical knowledge / experience would be very welcome as there are power tools for woodwork and also a tractor/ brush cutter / sickle bar mower.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Renovation of the house is complete. Upper floor is already fit for living. On ground floor there is a self-contained flat for workawayers with separate entrance, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.

We would share and provide breakfast. Snack at lunch and dinner could also be shared ( in that case we would expect workawayer to contribute a bit) or alternatively workawayer could also prepare his own lunch and dinner in his own kitchen.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

It would be beneficial if workers have their own car / e-bike or small motor bike, as there is almost no public transport in the village. Just one bus runs to Agropolis in the morning and returns early afternoon. Sea is closeby (just 5 km), nearby are beautiful coastlines of Cilento with great beaches. Also Paestum with its ancient Greek temples, Velia and holiday resorts of St. Maria di Castellabate are very close. Also possible to do some hiking in the nearby hills of Monte Stella
