    Description

Hi, thank you for taking the time to read our profile 😊

Next availability to stay at the moment is from June to mid August. A one month stay or longer would be preferable and an intermediate level of English is needed.

We are a family of 4, myself, my husband and 2 boys age 9 and 12. We have a cat, 2 chickens and an excitable small dog , she is affectionate and loves any extra attention.
Our boys are outgoing, lovable and energetic children, they love to play and enjoy the outdoors. We have a large garden and live on a quiet country road without much traffic. The boys love to run around playing soccer, rugby, tag, hide and seek when they come home from school, it is a great way for them to burn off any extra energy before settling down inside for the evening. An enthusiasm for these types of activities is a great help.

We would prefer someone with some experience of working with children. Previous workaway feedback would be good to have or if possible references from elsewhere would be much appreciated. This is not sole care of children, (au pair role) more based around family support of day to day life.

We are a non smoking household

  • Help

    Help

We are seeking 1 person or 2 friends/couple (willing to share a bed/room) to join our family day to day life
It is a mixed role of different types of help, and can vary day to day. This can include family home house work and day to day chores, meal preperation help, entertaining the kids, gardening and dog walking. The most important thing for us is to have someone stay with us that genuinely loves kids and wants to play and engage with them. This task rates highest above anything else! The kids attention and happiness is the top priority, we are looking for people who are kind, patient and with lots of enthusiasm and energy for spending time with children inside and outdoors

Ideally you will need to be happy to be active, play soccer, rugby, play air hockey, table football, run around and play hide and seek but also happy to sit in on rainy days and create arts and craft projects, play board games, lego, play music or basically anything to make the rainy days a little fun! The boys are sociable and friendly and will often be keen to spend time with you . We are a fairly lively house with lots of energy that often needs to be burnt off, so you would need to be up for this going on in the house between 7am – 8pm.
You will have the privacy of your own space/room of course for when you need your own time to relax

We have our own vegetable garden and polytunnel outside the front door. We are just starting to grow food and would welcome any help in this area. A knowledge/interest would be helpful but not essential. We always have ongoing weeding in the garden that we would appreciate help with when the weather is dry.

We have chickens, a small dog and a cat, so a love for animals is needed. There are lots of nice coastal walks close by for daily dog walking routes.

There are ongoing small DIY tasks to be done around the house. Also a few painting projects on the go so any help in this area would also be welcome

Evening week day meals can be cooked by me most nights. Option available to join us on a weekend for evening meals or to cook for yourselves ,depending on everyone's plans. If your interested and enjoy cooking and sharing recipes we would welcome this help and your ideas and this can be incorporated into the exchange of help hours .

Hours expected would be 5 hrs a day, 5 days a week.
Usually the routine has been 1.5 hrs in the morning of household chores and dog walking and then 3.5hrs with the kids and family meals time support/clean up from 4-7.30pm. I am around in the afternoon period to also be helping.

The 25hrs of help a week per person is essential in the exchange and arrangement but hours and days we can be flexible on if that is needed to accommodated your own plans.
We can plan ahead for each week. If the weather is good and you want plan day trips that is ok when pre planned or if you prefer to work outside, we can do our best to offer a mix of jobs to accommodate this.
