    Description

    “” Urgent ””
We're embarking on an exciting journey of restoration and creation, and we need your help!

    ❤️
We are Rick and Yasmin, a couple from Manchester...Between the mist of the madness in 2020 and with an end date for Brexit set..
We found ourselves in a world of chaos.. We had plans to continue our life as nomads, moving from place to place, continent to continent, learning, listening and sharing skills, knowledge and love..

After just coming back from traveling India for 6 months, 8 different countries in Asia and 2 years in New Zealand, we had spread our wings .. Through the journey we were using volunteer platforms, to learn many new skills, helping lots of beautiful souls along the way.. During the trip we had been using the experience to gain knowledge, We helped on many volunteer projects where mainly we would help people living the dream we wished for. Sustainability..

We loved the idea of building houses with earth, natural materials and recycled things.. Earth building and Food forest go hand in hand.
So whilst volunteering ourselves staying with people who were willing to share their knowledge and stories along with some wholesome food and a place to sleep.. It was such an inspiring experience, we were able to see the dream was & is possible and now our motto is "be inspired to inspire".

In all of these experiences on the land, Permaculture and its principles were the main focus.
We soon learned that Sustainability starts with your garden.

So we planted the seed many moons ago.. We dreamed big for this way of life and in the August 0f 2020 we managed to find a window within the global travel restrictions to escape. We had plans to leave in February/march but lockdowns prevented this from happening so in the meantime we converted an old ambulance.. When our home on wheels was complete we set sail for Portugal and are still living in our ambulance now..

We had our eyes on a few pieces of land (quintas) but once we laid eyes and spent the night on Quinta da Lobo we knew it was the one for us because of the experiences we had whilst being here, we knew within the land it had so much hidden Beauty, we had the visions to one day restore and regenerate the ruin and the farm to its full potential..

We have a beautiful slice of paradise with lush green terraces. situated in a valley full of quartz and granite boulders.. There are many existing native trees and newly planted fruit/nut/native trees with an abundance of water, which we use for our ever growing organic vegetable garden using our natural irrigation system Swales, Hugels and Ponds. As well showering in the waterfall..

Come and be a part of our off grid journey as we regenerate and restore our 3 hectare Quinta(farm)..
As we move towards complete self sufficiency, harnessing free energy nurturing and caring for the land..
As we make farming fun with permaculture techniques, creativity, bush craft, herbalism, mindfulness and healing..

The land has a 60m2 ruin made from solid granite blocks, water comes from an ancient tank which then runs down the valley through the middle of the land.
The land was hit by the fires in 2017 so some big old trees have fallen and there is definitely a lot of work to be done to clean restore and protect the land from this happening again.. There are several terraces and we are lucky to still have olive, fig, chestnut, oak & cork oak trees and native plants that have survived.
We feel privileged to have this project.
Up to now we have 2 dogs, 3 cats and 5 chickens & 1 cockerel who are making our farm a home.
We have BIG plans and wish to make it an open, creative space for all..
