Description

Hello! My name is Salem. I am interested in exploring different cultures, farming, animal care, and supporting initiatives that I care about.

After years of working as a manufacturing engineer, I quit my job to pursue my passions. I love being outdoors and getting my hands dirty, and enjoy physical labor. I have done a lot of animal care, so you won't find me shying away from bugs, hard work, extreme weather, or cleaning up messes. I have worked on six different farms. I have worked with horses, cows, goats, and chickens. I am very experienced with caring for cats and dogs, including ones with trauma/behavior issues. My experience with produce ranges from fruit trees to vegetable gardens. I have prepped beds, tilled soil, planted seeds, transplanted, weeded, pruned, and harvested all sorts of plants.

Being an engineer, I am great with technology and machinery if you need any support there. I have also worked on construction projects, home renovations, and landscaping.

My passions include sustainability, community, and animals. I would love to support locally grown food initiatives, sustainable projects, and projects that benefit local communities. I am a friendly and outgoing person who does well in communal environments.

Right now I am most interested in a project that works closely with animals. It has been a while since I worked on an animal farm or rescue and I have been missing the time with animals.

- Animal care. I have volunteered at cat/dog shelters, fostered animals, and volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary.
- Horse riding/care. I volunteered at a therapeutic riding center and have worked with horses at a local farm.

What else ...

I love to get outside as much as possible, and am very comfortable with off-grid living. I could provide input on compost and/or dry toilet systems. I am a very social, outgoing person. I volunteered for a long time at a wildlife sanctuary that rescues animals from poor conditions, roadside zoos, etc. These animals include lions, tigers, servals, and more!
