Description
Welcome to a place to arrive, be, and move on.
Hello dear workawayers!
I'm 67 years old and in the process of sensitively restoring my parents' house from 1909. Two years older, in other words. My dream? To create a place where people can pause – to breathe, exchange ideas, find themselves, and then move on strengthened. A small oasis of well-being, in the heart of Switzerland.
A place with history and vision!
With a magnificent view of the Lucerne Alps to the south, the Black Forest to the west, and directly above the medieval town of Bremgarten, Villa is located on the hilltop of a glacial moraine that stretches along the Reuss River. Built in 1909 as a spa, the building stood alone in the countryside at the time. Today, Mutschellen is built over, but the property still stands out – as a green oasis with an impressive villa surrounded by a 3-hectare garden, idyllic park, and forest.
What to expect:
You (or a couple) will live in the fully functional annex with a private entrance, a cozy bedroom with a double bed, a private bathroom, and a living room. We share the kitchen, washing machine, and dryer. Your retreat is secure – quiet, private, and comfortable. The location is also a good base for exploring Switzerland: With good public transport connections, you can be in downtown Zurich in 30 minutes, and from there you can reach cities like Lucerne, Bern, or Basel within an hour.
What I'm looking for:
During the week, I'm happy to help for about 3 hours in the morning. The tasks are varied – depending on what needs to be done and what you bring to the table: DIY tasks around the house, small repairs, or gardening. All at a calm, respectful pace.
I'm looking for people who would like to stop here for a while on their journey through life – with open eyes, a heart in the right place, and a desire to help create something meaningful. A stay of 1 week to 1 month is ideal.
Who this is for:
This offer is particularly aimed at independent, proactive, and somewhat more experienced workawayers – uncomplicated, responsible, and who enjoy a mindful community. Since I'm not always in the house, I really appreciate it if you're well-organized.
Of course, I'm here if you have any questions – about the area, the culture, or just for a cup of coffee and a good chat.
Languages: German, English, French
Important: Valid liability and health insurance are required.
I would be delighted if you became part of this project – and perhaps took a piece of it with you in your heart.
Sincerely,
Madeleine
Zwei ältere Semester also. Mein Traum?
Was dich erwartet:
Was ich mir wünsche:
Herzlich,
MadeleineTypes of help and learning opportunities

This opportunity is best suited for independent, self-reliant people who feel comfortable finding their way around, as I’m not at the house all day.
I'm happy to share my knowledge about plants and wild herbs—how to harvest them and turn them into herbal extracts, ointments, tinctures, and teas.
Depending on your interests, you might also help with harvesting and preserving wild herbs, berries, fruits, and vegetables from the garden.
If you enjoy creative work, there’s also the chance to decorate cookies with royal icing, make chocolate bonbons, craft scented soap bars, and take part in other hands-on artisanal projects.
I’ll be working alongside you on all tasks and am happy to provide guidance if you're not experienced.Help
I'm looking for self-reliant, initiative-taking and easygoing people – ideally experienced Workawayers and oldtimers such as myself are very welcome – who would like to pause for a while on their journey through life, and help bring this vision of a welcoming and peaceful place to life. Stays from one week to one month are possible.
The type of help you'll be helping with includes clearing out and decluttering rooms, cleaning windows and furniture, painting walls, watering and weeding garden beds, and mowing the lawn. No heavy lifting or use of dangerous machinery is required.
Another type of activity involves harvesting and preserving wild herbs, berries, fruits, and vegetables from the garden. You might also help decorate cookies with royal icing, make chocolate bonbons, craft scented soap bars, and take part in other creative, artisanal projects.
I’ll be working alongside you on all tasks and am happy to provide guidance if you're not experienced.
I’m not around all day, but always happy to offer local tips and insights – and always have time for a coffee and a good conversation if the moment arises.Languages

Downtown Zurich is just 30 minutes away by public transport, and from there, you can reach Bern, Basel, and Lucerne within an hour by train. The nearby medieval towns of Bremgarten, Baden, and Aarau are also well worth a visit. Switzerland's public transportation system is extremely well-developed and reliable, making it easy to explore.
