Description
We are Christine, Cândida (Christine's daughter) and Daniel (Cândida's husband). Christine has lived in Portugal for the last 48 years running several businesses, from which she is now retired. We have 2 half-hectare plots in a large valley in the foothills of the 'barrocal'. Over the years we have built up a veritable organic 'food forest' with a large orchard (~30 different species and one amazing tipu-tipu tree!), an olive grove, several carob trees and a medium sized veggie patch. The ocean is 25 minutes away by car (no easy public transport) but the national train line is a 5 minute car-drive away, there is plenty to see within biking distance (typical Algarve villages, hills, etc).
In general we do not receive volunteers in August and December. The remaining months depend on our needs and availability. We strive to keep this information updated on our host calendar.
At times we host and teach Permaculture Design and Agroforest courses.
For workaways volunteering with us during the period of a course we may offer scholarships.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We need some strong arms and good sense of humour to help with a variety of small-holder tasks around the house and holding. In June/July Carob picking, in Sept/October olive picking. Year round veggie garden weeding and mulching, firewood cutting, pruning, fence building, house painting, irrigation system maintenance. Fully automatic irrigation, shady orchard, sunny veggie garden.

Such a beautiful property too!
The tasks were mostly around the garden and some small house work.
We hope to visit again one day. Thank you Christine!
