Description
We are welcoming folks who
> have experience caring for (feeding, cleaning, field turn out) horses and sheep/pigs/chickens a bonus.
> are a couple or two friends (sharing the trailer together)
> can commit to two months minimum
Steve and I live on a quiet and peaceful 7 acre hobby farm in Abbotsford BC. I offer wellness sessions and programs for children, youth and adults while Steve has retired from paid work and works full time on the farm. Our animal family is made up of five horses, two miniature horses, two miniature donkeys, kune kune pigs, sheep, chickens, cats and two Miniature American Shepards. We also have a small garden.
In the past we have run a bed and breakfast and enjoyed getting to know travellers and share our little slice of heaven with them. We have hosted farm stay individuals since 2019 which is a continued adventure for us. We enjoy meeting new people and creating a mutually rewarding collaborative environment here at the farm.
We are looking for volunteers who love animals and would be happy in our travel trailer set up next to our house or a private bedroom with shared bathroom in our house. We are easy to get along with and love sharing stories while also maintaining privacy.
We require that volunteers have some experience working with animals as there is a steep learning curve. We are vegan-vegetarian and therefore do not cook meat on the farm.Types of help and learning opportunities

Steve and I have done some travelling and are eager to travel again after retirement. We are curious about other parts of the world and enjoy hearing from our guests. We are proud to share our Canadian heritage and suggest the amazing places to explore around our area and other parts of British Columbia.
Help
Primary duties include daily feeding, clean up and care of the animals which has been streamlined over the years. There are always additional activities from building to repairing things around the farm. We are flexible and work to find a fit that works for everybody. We all help and being part of our team and contributing equally between volunteers is very important to us.

There are so many wonderful outdoor activities close to our farm (hiking trails and parks) and we can suggest day trips to Whistler, Squamish, Chilliwack or Harrison Hot Springs.

They are a generous, funny and kind couple. I felt welcomed, helpful and it was like I was part of the family. I got on well with the other volunteers.
