    Description

We are Alli and Erin—American expats in our fourth year of living in beautiful Dubrovnik. We’re located just above Sunset Beach in Lapad, within walking distance of everything you could need and conveniently close to several bus stops.

We share our home with two dogs: **Athena and Matcha**.

Athena is our 7-year-old Staffy mix and a total people person. She’s never met a human she didn’t immediately charm and is happiest when she’s getting attention, cuddling, or hanging out with her people. Athena is also an anxious girl and can be sensitive to her environment. She does **not** do well with loud noises, large crowds, or particularly busy places, so she’s happiest with quieter walks and a more relaxed routine at home. She is also good on hikes, and adventures out and about where it will not be too noisy, and no one will be kicking a soccer ball around (one of her weird triggers).

Matcha is our young English Labrador and the newest addition to our family. She’s sweet, playful, goofy, and very much still has that young Lab energy. Unlike Athena, Matcha is incredibly comfortable out and about. She can happily join you at cafés, walk along the promenades, explore busier areas, and generally come along for the adventure without issue.

We occasionally need to leave Croatia for anywhere from a few weeks to a month at a time, so we’re looking for someone to stay in our home in Dubrovnik and care for Athena and Matcha while we’re away. More than anything, we’d love to find someone who genuinely enjoys dogs and will make them feel loved and comfortable while we’re gone.

Both girls eat twice a day and go for walks each day. They are also BEST FRIENDS and love hanging out and relaxing together.

At home, they’re happiest hanging out with their people, playing, chewing on toys, and getting plenty of attention. Athena is a big fan of ropes, balls, and chew toys—but absolutely **no squeakers**. Matcha, being a young Lab, is generally thrilled about anything that involves playing, exploring, or being included.

They’re both incredibly affectionate dogs with plenty of personality, and having someone stay with them in their own home makes being away much easier on all of us.

Dubrovnik’s advent market will be occurring during your stay with us. You will get to experience what it is like to be local— there are not as many tourists here this time of year, and it’s a wonderful, quiet, time to get to know the city.

We are looking for someone (or a couple) to **house and dog sit** while we travel and care for our two dogs, Athena and Matcha.

**Athena** is our 7-year-old Staffy mix. She needs to go outside 2–3 times per day, including two walks. The exact timing isn’t particularly important as long as she gets her morning, afternoon, and evening/night outings.

Athena is an anxious girl and needs plenty of attention and human company to feel safe and secure. She loves cuddling, watching TV with you, and settling in with a good chewy. She eats twice per day.

She loves playing with ropes, tug toys, and other toys that **do not squeak**. Squeaky toys, fireworks, sudden loud noises, and very busy environments can deeply upset her and should be avoided. While Athena is very social and loves meeting people, she is happiest on quieter walks rather than in large crowds or noisy areas.

**Matcha** is our young English Labrador. She also eats twice per day and needs regular walks and bathroom breaks, but she’s much more adventurous than her sister! Matcha is happy in busy environments and can comfortably come along to cafés, promenades, restaurants with outdoor seating, longer walks, and other dog-friendly outings around Dubrovnik.

Matcha is still young, so she has more energy and playfulness than Athena and benefits from plenty of exercise, play, and stimulation. She loves people, other dogs, exploring, and generally being included in whatever you’re doing.

Both girls are affectionate, social, and happiest when they’re around people. They can be introduced to new people and dogs comfortably, and they love having someone to cuddle and hang out with at home.

Our ideal sitter will have some experience caring for dogs and, most importantly, be comfortable giving them plenty of companionship and affection. Because Athena is anxious, we’re looking for someone who plans to spend a good amount of time at the house with them rather than leaving them alone for long stretches.
