Description
Hi! we are a family of five, living up north in Norway, in the small county of Tranøy/Hamarøy. We live here on the countryside and channel our energy into the beautiful sport of dogsledding, and our other wonderful creatures like lamas, ducks, chickens and turkeys. The area is surrounded by beautiful mountains and nature, directly by the seaside.
Although this is the absolute dream life, it is also a very physical and demanding job, and that's why we need YOU! we would love to have someone here to help out with the tasks around our small (and growing!) farm, and overall balance out the workload. Work around the house and in the house like move the snow, cleaning in the house, painting the house and barn, preparing for and planting a vegetable garden, and other things would also become part of the tasks.
It is very important that you are a positive person and a happy worker, but most of all an animal lover! We also value that you are a handy, practical person who learns fast (and wants to learn), and does not mind manual labour.
We prefer to have helpers stay for 6 weeks minimum, as it takes some time to get into the routines and get used to the animals. You also need to be able to share a living space with other helpers. Next summer (starting may 2026) we would love to have 2 people who can help us paint the house and the barn :)

Help
Your work will be:
- feeding and caring for the sled-dogs
- keeping the dog-kennel clean
- otherwise help me out with anything else that is needed
- caring for 2 lamas (feeding and keeping clean, walking)
- caring for all birds in our chicken coop (cleaning, feeding)
- who knows, we might get more animals :)
- painting the barn and house
- gardening
Qualities we are looking for in a helper :
- can put up with long workdays
- cares about animals, as animal welfare is always the top priority
- honest and motivated
- can accept that in this line of work we get wet and cold sometimes, and it will not always be comfortable
- has no problem living with others, and will get along with the family
- a positive spirit and a smile :)

you are responsible for your cooking your own meals (groceries provided), except for dinner, which we all eat together in the main house.

My spontaneous luck to be part of Natalia's family, to look after her cuddly, crazy animals and to be allowed to live with them was a gift. Being outside from morning to evening, endless cheese sandwiches and culinary delights in the evening were of course a must! So it was quite bearable. But watch out: the… read more

I stayed a month with Natalia and her family, it was a really lovely time. I love working outside with the dogs and working in the garden, so this was exactly what I was hoping for.
Lots to do and in a beautiful quiet area, I also learned about how to use the flowers and plants that are growing in the area. For everyone who love dogs, like to… read more
if you love dogs, lovely people, good food, cats, (and chickens), you've found the best host here. I spent a month here and there was something to do every day. No matter if the weather is bad or sunny and 25 degrees, the dogs all want to be cuddled and are very happy when they see you,… read more
Well, you didn’t make it easy for us to say goodbye. After a month full of wagging dog tails, delicious rhubarb cake, creative projects, hikes in the midnight sun, fishing trips and so many more experiences, we just couldn’t get enough of you.
From the first moment we felt comfortable… read more
I stayed with Natalia and her lovely family for 3 weeks. It is that I had to go home because I had things to do, but I can confidently say that I would have stayed longer if I could. All 5 of the family are very welcoming people and… read more
