A rustic stable with a green roof sits amidst trees. Hay bales, hanging plants, white chairs, and a garden path create a peaceful, rural atmosphere.
Inside a stable, two men are tending to a black horse, possibly grooming or examining it. Various equipment and ropes hang on the wall nearby.

    Description

We invite you to live with us in the countryside, on a family farm where you’ll be surrounded every day by horses, nature, and the Spanish language.

Here we don’t have tight schedules or strict routines. Everything goes with the rhythm of the animals, the land, and family life.

Your help will be important, and you’ll be part of what happens on the farm every day. But one of the good things about this volunteering is that you’ll also have free time. It’s not about working all day, but about finding a balance between helping, learning, resting, and enjoying the place.

You can also go out and explore Tenjo on your own. It’s a lovely town with a lot to see, and getting around is easy.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    ___________________________________________________________________________________

This isn’t a touristic or large-scale volunteer project. It’s an invitation to really experience the Colombian countryside, share life with a local family, help with real horse-related tasks, and practice lots of Spanish every day.

It’s a simple and genuine experience, perfect for those who want something more real than regular tourism — a chance to learn, connect, and enjoy country life as it truly is.

_______________________________________________________ My family speaks very little English. This is a great opportunity for you to practice and improve your Spanish. On the other hand, I (Camilo) am a Spanish and English teacher. Lessons are available upon request.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    ___________________________________________________________________________________

We have two rooms available for volunteers: one room with a queen-sized bed and another room with two double beds. You can see what they look like in the photos.

These are three typical Colombian meals, usually cooked by my mum: for breakfast we have changua, rib broth, eggs or hot chocolate; for lunch, beans, sobrebarriga (beef tripe) or cocido (stew), among other things; and for dinner, something lighter like arepa, eggs and something hot.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    Health and work conditions
Volunteers should be in good health and free from contagious diseases. The nearest medical service is about 30 minutes away, and we only have a basic first aid kit on the farm.

We really value cultural exchange here, but we also expect everyone to be respectful and keep a positive attitude when working and sharing space with the local team.

    Horses and animals
Working or riding with horses, and handling other animals, involves some risk. If you choose to take part in these activities, it will be under your own responsibility. The farm cannot be held responsible for any accidents or injuries.

    Insurance
We ask all volunteers to have travel or accident insurance with full coverage during their stay in Colombia — it’s just a way to keep everyone safe and worry-free.
