My name is Archie. I'm 27 from Cheshire, UK, where I'm spending some time in between stints in London. I love being outside and getting out for a long walk or cycle in the hills whenever I can. I've volunteered with landscaping projects, and cooking with fresh, good quality ingredients is an important part of my daily routine. I love learning and immersing myself in different cultures which I have nurtured through learning Spanish.

I'm at a transition point. From September I'll be starting as a secondary school teacher, and before that I spent five years working in market analysis for the metals and mining sector. South America was a focus of my work, and I saw what extractive industries do to land, water and the communities around them. I want to spend this chapter doing the opposite - working with people who are putting something back into the land rather than taking from it.

Growing my own food and working on my feet has become something I care about more and more. I've done a bit of gardening, and I cook a lot.

South America has been pulling at me for a long time and I want this trip to be more than tourism. This feels like the right way - a few weeks contributing to a community, and learning a new culture and language properly.
