    Description

I’m Francois - a multi-instrumentalist, carpenter, and craftsman with experience in woodworking, stone building, and instrument making. For the past four years I’ve been living on a beautiful piece of land surrounded by ancient olive trees, with rivers flowing right beside us.

If you love nature, hiking, simple living, and community lifestyle, you might fit in well here.
I am slowly building and improving the land, creating a small community-based life connected closely with nature. I’m looking for people who would like to be part of this journey and help with different kinds of projects depending on your interests and skills.

We are located in a small and peaceful community where neighbors live harmoniously with nature. There are hikes, rivers, and beautiful beaches nearby, and we are only a 35-minute drive from Rethymno.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

The cultural exchange here happens in organic ways.

We share daily life together on the land, which creates space for connection, learning, and exchanging ideas. People who come here often bring their own cultures, stories, skills, and ways of living.
You can learn practical skills such as basic carpentry, stone work, gardening, and simple off-grid living. At the same time, there is also exchange through music, cooking, and shared meals. We sometimes have spontaneous music sessions, where everyone is welcome to join or share their own instruments and sounds.

  • Help

    Help

The land is a work in progress and I am always upgrading, building and improving- it’s here that I would love some help from you. The help really depends on your skills and what projects we are in the middle of, but to give you some idea this could include: clearing the land, cutting the grass, upgrading the irrigation, support with carpentry tasks, varnishing, watering gardens etc etc. It can be helpful if you have any technical skills, but this is not a must - willingness to help and a good attitude are just as important.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

There are 2 caravans, a yurt, a treehouse, and a van and we will host you according to availability.
Life on the land is shared with others - sometimes people stay longterm, sometimes friends or volunteers passing through shortly. There is usually a small changing group here.
We live in a community style way (simple and unstructured way).

Ingredients for 3 meals a day is provided. Some days we do shard meals.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We like to eat together but this happens quite spontaneously. It depends on who is around and who feels inspired to create shared moments. Some periods are more social, others more quiet. We follow the natural rhythm of the days.
Besides us there are also nice neighbours around to connect with (who also live in a nature-connected way).
