    Description

Hi Everyone who tried to contact us over the last few month I am sorry we were off line. WE are back again and will be looking for help.

We are looking for a couple or very independant single who would be interested in housesitting and looking after our 2 cats, 2 dogs and a couple of chickens and ducks. We are planning to visit stay with my elderly mother for a couple of weeks in November. Please consider that with the current covid situation those plans may change.

WE offer accommodation, food there is a hot tub and outdoor training area on our site, the area is rural and the nearest town 5km is Skibbereen. Skibbereen is a lively market town and there are lots of places to see in the area.

Mostly we are looking for people to help us with the garden, help in and around the house, general house maintenance, helping with our 2 dogs, cats and chickens. Anyone who has knowledge of gardening, polytunnels etc.and could help independantly gardening would be very welcome.
Our site is in a lovely rural area, lifts to the nearest town and some evenings out would be possible. We are about 10 km from the sea. We are 5 km from the town of Skibbereen. Most of our helping hands explore the area by bike, hiking or hitch hiking. There is a bus service from the nearest town ( skibbereen) to the next towns and villages.

We are trying to create a vegetable garden(we do have a polytunnel). We also offer self catering accommodation, which is run by Des and Heidi.
During the spring and summer period workawayers are accommodated in a small caravan, facilities such as a shower/bathroom are available in the main house. during the colder season workawayers have a room in the house.

Des is a local musician/singer and sings in local pubs. Heidi likes outdoors and is interested in cooking and bread baking.
our son Marc lives on site with his partner. Marc is a fitness instructor and there is an outdoor training area which can be used by workawayers.

It would be helpful if you have your own transport, but not necessary if you don't mind that we are in the country.
There are 2 bikes you can use.
We have 2dogs (who need a lot of walking) and 2very friendly cat.
We also have 5 chickens, who provide us with our own eggs.
We believe in fair exchange and will not ask for too many hours. We usually ask for 4-5 hours help 5 days a week or a max of 25 hours per week devided and agreed upon between you and us as needed.

We encourage our helping hands to use their free time and go to explore the local area and enjoy the beauty of West Cork. there is much to see and do, you can go to the sea, visit some of the Islands, go cayaking or walking. you are welcome to use the facilities in the garden, there is a bbq area and hot tub/jacuzzi.

IN exchange you will receive accommodation and food ( during the busy season you will be accommodated in a small caravan) you will be able to enjoy the facilities around our house and area.

We normally look for two people traveling together to stay for about 2 weeks or more. We also look for people who are interested in house and animal sitting, while we take a break and do our own traveling. During housesitting the hostel will be closed, so you would look after our home and animals.
