  • Description

Hi! My name is Perrfection, I love to dance, sing, garden, craft and build. I am a beginner roller skater and model and I looooooove learning new things. I went to high school at a quaker school in Newtown PA called George school, where I was able to explore many of these passionsI graduated from Drew university a few months ago with a major in Commuter Science and a minor in Chinese Studies. After a few years of working, I finally have the freedom I would like to explore the world I live in. My family is from the Caribbean, St. Lucia to be exact, and I find that my culture is very conscious of the earth and the life we share this earth with. I would like to spend some time fully embracing that relationship and the ways it is present in other cultures and practices.

Much of my developmental years revolved around community service so I have also volunteered with programs like Jersey Cares to promote local family business and community resources, local summer school programs assisting caregivers and educators, panted public schools and low income housing, volunteered at my school garden and day care, and assisted community events and planning.

Additionally, I have a lot of experience with young adult and teen mentorship. Most recently, I participated in a program called Angloville in both Poland and London. There I worked with 50+ children ranging from 11-18 as an international participant. In my role I spent most of my time talking to the children 2-1 in order to improve their confidence in English. I also assisted them with presentations and guided my London students through trips of Center city and Cambridge.

A few years back I received a scholarship to travel to France for a month on a language and cultural immersion program with EIL the (the experiment in international living). During my time at EIL I had the pleasure of living with a lovely host family, in a small town in southern France, who were really involved in the community events hosted by their city hall. Additionally, I attended culinary school right outside of Lyon amongst many other amazing experiences.

I also traveled with a friend of mine to Mexico for a month where we not only explored temples, Cenotes, and museums but also made a huge effort to engage with locals and learn about their culture.

Outside of those experiences, I also use to visit the Caribbean often.

More details about my language interests
I have worked with Angloville as an international participant, and I have mentored a few college and high school students in English. That being said, I have a lot of experience with facilitating English language emersion and I would love to continue teaching. I'm also interested in learning any language. With a lot of practice my hope is to be polylingual one day.

I learn very quickly and I am great at following instructions so I am pretty good at a lot of things. I can cook (I learned from my family then worked as a manager for chipotle for a few years and there is also the occasional YouTube tutorial), build/tinker (a lot of the men in my family are freelance carpenters and they have taught me a lot about maintaining residential property), garden (I worked in a garden in high school and grow vegetables and herbs occasionally), dance (I studied modern contemporary in high school and I've done free style and assorted genres most of my life).
