    Description

We have a small organic grain farm right off Hwy 16: myself (Marika Age 25) and my parents, Denise and Dennis.

The last two years have not been without challenges, in 2022 we had lightning strike our home resulting in a complete loss. After taking time off to heal and rebuild, we're ready to welcome volunteers again.

Throughout the year, there's always work on the farm. In spring, we tap maple trees for syrup. In summer we tend to a variety of animals, the constant flow of yard work, and manage a sizable garden. In fall our harvest is in full swing and we are often out in the fields and our garden getting ready for winter. This summer, we're focused on completing our work away bunkhouse and enhancing the farm's appearance. We've previously raised rabbits, pigs, and laying hens, and this summer, we plan to care for chickens, laying hens, and possibly our neighbour's cattle.

We primarily consume farm-raised and wild meat but can accommodate vegan or vegetarian diets.

Our farm is conveniently located just 30 minutes away from Riding Mountain National Park, offering plenty of summer activities and stunning hiking and biking trails.

Come join us and be a part of our farm life as we continue our work and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area.

Travellers can learn gardening and sustainable food practices. We collect manure from our animals to maintain our gardens and rain off our house. We are trying to maintain not just plant health but soil health as well.

I also make most of our food from scratch. We can teach how to make fresh fruit pies, pasta, and other baked goodies.

    Accommodation

We have a motorhome that is currently being outfitted into a bunkhouse. One of your jobs would be assisting in its conversion to make it a permanent home for guests to have their own space. We want to tile, paint, build a small deck and make it a beautiful space.

We are happy to support vegan, vegetarian, GF, or other special diets.

You will have access to high-speed wifi, a warm bed and a shower.

There is no public transit in the area but we are happy to pick up workers and drive you to local events you wish to attend if our time allows. The farm is a short drive from Rivers Via Rail train station if you are travelling Canada by train. For local sites, Riding Mountain National Park is a beautiful destination and a short drive away.
