    Description

We invite you cordially as a guest to our nonprofit association. Over the years it has been a great pleasure to welcome individuals who feel drawn to spirituality in general and/or wish to broaden their horizon regarding specific practices.

Our retreat house offers a variety of seminars, the main focus being meditation, mindfulness and yoga. A few of us live here permanently; others assisting teachers and participants stay with us for the duration of the seminar. To live and work in a mindful and caring way is important to us. Due to our holistic approach our cooks take great care in preparing organic and vegetarian/vegan food.

We are located in a beautiful landscape about an hour outside of Berlin. Forests, lakes and the river Havel, are only a short walk away. Enjoyable outdoor activities include swimming, hiking, cycling on designated bike trails and exploring waterways via boat or kayak. The garden on our property offers additional space for silence and reflection. One of our long-term goals is to establish a community space for special events for locals and visitors alike.

Our organization belongs to the network for mindful economy (inspired by Buddhism). Guests from a broad variety of spiritual teachings and cultural backgrounds are welcome. We like the idea of building a bridge between Eastern and Western spiritual paths. If you like to read our library offers many books which reflect the diversity of interests.

    Help

Volunteers help in the house and garden. Main activities are supporting cooks in the kitchen as well as keeping indoor and outdoor spaces tidy and clean.

In rare cases where the house is not booked volunteers shift their attention to maintenance work in the house and garden. In the summer time the trees and plants need extra care, esp. watering and weeding. Sometimes minor office tasks are required and help with our research projects (preparing questionnaires, data entry and documentation)

As a non-profit organization we depend on donations and sponsors. Volunteers with a professional background in fundraising may have the opportunity to share their expertise.

Depending on availability and by prior arrangement we can offer a room with shared bathroom; we expect volunteers to be flexible with accommodation changes in case our seminar house is fully booked. Starting spring through autumn we can also offer a tent on our property.

It is easier for us to predict the likelihood of your stay if your request reaches us not earlier than 2-3 months in advance. If we decide to host you a minimum stay of three weeks works best for us. Please note that the first week is set as a trial period. In addition, we require volunteers to have health insurance.

Experience has shown that the ideal arrival time for you at our place would be Monday morning between 9am and 12pm.
If you can manage that, we would be very grateful. But of course other days and times are also possible.

When silent retreats take place we are called to practice mindfulness during working hours. If our individual preferences and schedules align we gather for community activities which you are free to join. During lunch breaks we enjoy spending time together in the sunroom. Sometimes we practice group meditation or watch documentaries. Nevertheless, we expect volunteers to be ok with spending spare time on their own.

Due to our focus on mindfulness wifi internet access is not available in guest rooms. Therefore, it is not feasible for us to host volunteers who depend on freelance work during their stay.
