Description
Hi! :)
I'm Sonya. I was born in Northern Ireland, but moved to the 'mainland UK’ in 2002 and have been mostly based in the south of England since then. I'm a qualified Veterinary Nurse and worked in a veterinary hospital for 12 years before running my own pet care business for 7 years, before Covid.
During lockdown I did a Permaculture Design Course and did some volunteering on Permaculture projects in England. Since then, I have worked on an organic veg farm, and spent 18 months working in conservation in the Scottish Highlands. My job up there was split between giving educational talks to the public about landscape restoration / rewilding, and doing fundraising for a wildlife charity.
I love learning, have boundless curiosity, want to experience other ways of life and to learn new skills in foraging, food growing, eco-building, conservation, sustainability and rewilding.
I am particularly excited to explore Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but am open to other possibilities too. I can speak a little bit of German but would love the opportunity to learn more.
I LOVE music, from new-age, classical, gothic metal and 80's cheesy pop to The Carpenters and lots of things in between. I love mountains, rivers, forests, sunrises, sunsets, and wild, open spaces. I enjoy hiking, reading, meditation, mountain-biking, gardening, and connecting with other kind and compassionate humans. I value kindness, honesty, and a respect for the natural world.
