Roisin and Giovanna were excellent farm guests. They both were enthusiastic, fun to be around, got along well with us and our community members. They helped in many areas - chicken care, barn pen mulching, weeding, planting seeds, transplanting, putting down landscape cloth and out around the house. They both loved to cook and bake, we enjoyed all of their cooked meals and baked projects! Both were very conversational, worked well together, as well as independently. They enjoyed several outings with some of my community members and joined in socially. They were well mannered house mates, cleaning up after themselves and all around helpful. Individually or together they would be an asset to Workaway stays. Rosin teaches Irish and Giovanna teaches Portuguese, they both met while teaching language for a year in the USA.

I spent three wonderful weeks with Jenn and her family...went by way too fast! They were welcoming, generous, appreciative of my help, and happy to answer any and all questions I had. I miss waking up to forest sounds and spectacular mountain views, petting the adorable crew of dogs, family dinners (nettle kimchi!!) and afternoons swimming and sunbathing in the nearby lakes. I'm grateful for the chance to practice/learn more about carpentry, biodynamic farming, herbal medicine, beekeeping, and so much more. I was glad I had my car to explore this region- awesome hiking, hot springs, lakes, cute towns (Kaslo/Nelson) and farmers markets. Highly recommend a stay on the Tulip Farm (:

Harlan was a good farm stay guest. He was always courteous and helpful. He worked well with my other farm guest doing many activities with us. While here Harlan, moved quite a lot of electric step in fence post in my cattle pastures, learned how to use a gas powered weed whacker, did lots of weeding, mulch spreading, learned how to stack firewood for winter use, cooked some meals, did chicken care and generally helped out around the house. He also learned how to make jam and can jars of the blue berry jam. He often independently worked on wood stacking, weeding and chicken care chores. He is a quick learner and easy to work with. He is conscientious and trust worthy. This may have been his first Workaway experience and did very well all around. I enjoyed our conversations about working with neuro-divergent children and education in general, as we both have experience in those areas. Harlan is a bit quite, but by no means shy. He has varied interests and is self entertained, practicing keyboard, loves insects and curious about his surroundings. He explored our area both doing hikes with my other farm guest as well as on his own and visiting areas of interest. I invite him back if he would like to visit again, and highly recommend him for Workaway stays.

Yuka stayed with us in our girls summer holiday time. It was very helpful because myself didn’t have holiday this summer. Yuka made always sure that the kids have regular day rhytm and they are fed, having clean diapers and napping time. She even kept company for the cat so everybody had them own share of attention. Yuka was like part of our family and very easy to be with. Everything went naturally and smoothly. We even had a taste of Japanese food multiple times. The most I enjoyed showing her famous tango dancing, when we went to Tango festival together. We was also doing traditional Finnish grilling outside. Yuka is fun company and she is always positive and laughing. She came to see how happy Finland is as a country, but she made also our life happier by helping us thrue this summer. She is professional in taking care of any age of children, from babies to toddlers and kindergarten to school age children! She is fast, hardworking and excellent in her tasks. I would recommend her to any kind of jobs in the future! We wish her all the best and good luck, maybe some day we will see each others again! Thank you so much and we miss her already!

Sherry was good to have around. She did a lot of cleaning in the house and yard, and weeded in our garden. Since she is a Chinese graduate student studying in the United State it was very interesting to get her perspective on the political issues between China and the U.S., and to get her perspective on Artificial Intelligence. She has A.I. much more integrated into her daily life than any U.S. people I know, Unfortunately our kitchen was under construction so she could not cook for us which she really wanted to do. However we went out to dinner at a Schezwan restaurant and it was great to have her order for us.

Luke is a very reliable young man who is at his workstation by 7 AM and strictly follows the instructions and work organization that have been communicated to him. Furthermore, he has a very good rapport with customers and makes every effort to improve his French language skills. In his interactions with us, he is polite and respectful, as well as towards our environment; he is also curious about all the opportunities for meetings and shows that we offer him. He is a friendly young man whom we enjoy hosting. We warmly recommend him."

I was welcomed with open arms by Alex and Jaco. I've stayed with them as the first ever Workawayer and within a short time we got comfortable around each other. They took me along picking berries for breakfast and picking herbs for dinner, explained what work they would like to be done and how. They also let me free to follow my own rhythm. The non profit farm is a great place to learn and also to stand still and enjoy the view. Thank you Jaco and Alex and see you soon!

Nicola and Lisa were nice, responsive and respectful. They did what we agreed upon. It was short, but we are grateful for their help. Such a pleasure to have them. Highly recommended 👍

Ludovica e Alessandro

My experience at the farm with the horses was wonderful. I had the opportunity to meet other volunteers with very interesting lives, from different parts of the world. Everyone there was very kind and made me feel comfortable and as if I were at home! I had a comfortable and clean space to sleep, and the opportunity to ride the horses through the forest and mountains! Without a doubt, this has been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life! Being in contact with these wonderful animals has been fascinating and very therapeutic. I learned a lot about horses and my days here were very happy. The place is surrounded by a very beautiful forest! This has always been my favorite place to disconnect and spend time with myself! Thank you for everything, Kadir and Celi :) I hope to see you again.

I spent two weeks with Laura, Sauli and MANU and it was such a nice experience. From the very first day until the last, I felt completely like in home. With different tasks to choose from I could do and learn various things every day. They are really easy to communicate with, so you feel relaxed and comfortable all day. As part of the cultural exchange, you will try Finnish food, learn a lot about Finnish culture and you can ask anything you want about Argentina. It’s also a unique opportunity to visit the most famous dog beach in Finland, for free, with a guide provided by MANU She will show you the best spots to swim and fish rocks from the water. :)

I absolutely loved it here! Gintaré and Danielius are incredibly kind, fascinating people and amazing cooks too! 😍 Being surrounded by nature has been wonderful, and the weather has been perfect for working outside all day. 🙌🏼 I’ve had the chance to plant seeds, mow the lawn, grout tiles, harvest berries and cherries, and even bake some cake. It’s been such rewarding and satisfying work - exactly what I was hoping for. 🥰

Fynn was a fantastic guest: one of the really wonderful people. He is funny, smart, resourceful, hardworking, and "low maintenance." We loved his humour and his smile that, as the old cliche goes, could light up a room. He was able to see what needed to be done to make the living conditions more comfortable (like if someone had left out dishes without cleaning up) and solve the problem. He is well read, willing to engage respectfully in difficult conversions, funny, and very, very strong. Every job we gave him was finished with care and thoughtfulness, and no faster or slower than the task required. Really a great guy, for a lawyer.... Thanks so much Fynn for choosing our home and sharing your time and talents with us.

Staying with Jocelyne and Jean Claude was a warm and rewarding experience. They were patient and encouraging as we practiced our French, especially during our shared, home-cooked meals, which were prepared by Jocelyne—often using produce from their garden. These mealtimes were when we spoke the most French, and we appreciated both the food and the conversation. Our petite maison was the perfect accommodation —very comfortable and independent, giving us a great balance of privacy and connection. The work was mainly gardening—plenty of weeding and fresh air—plus a few light maintenance tasks. We were able to work to our own schedule which was very much appreciated as we like to start early. During our free time, and thanks to their generosity, we were able to visit places they recommended, buy far too much beautiful summer fruit from the nearby weekly market, and really explore the region. We felt a nice connection with both Jocelyne and Jean Claude and enjoyed sharing stories and learning about each other’s backgrounds. We’re happy to recommend them to other Workawayers looking for a peaceful and genuine exchange.

This workaway experience was so lovely - no notes! I only spent two weeks volunteering with the horses and I wish I could have stayed longer. As mentioned, horses are a very vital aspect of the culture and history on Gili T, and Tori and her team have crafted something so integral to the health and wellness of the horses on the island, it’s truly inspiring. There are many resident horses at the rescue and they also provide veterinary care to the working horses on the island as well. The work itself was really enjoyable and educational - one hour in the morning walking the horses to the beach with tourists to provide education and squash any touristy assumptions and concerns they may hold about the welfare of the horses - and an hour or two in the afternoon to feed, groom, bathe, and walk the horses. The accommodation is at the dive center on the northern and very peaceful part of the island, right on the beach, which makes it very convenient to fit diving into the schedule! (As well as snorkeling, sunset gazing, etc). I earned my advanced open water certification with Qinqin and it was so fun. She was very flexible with my volunteer schedule and my getting sick schedule lol. The diving is incredible around the Gili islands, I highly recommend it! It also feels really nice to dive with the same people you’re volunteering with, which was an added bonus. Even though food is not included with this workaway there are tons of very affordable food options very close to the accommodations so this was never an issue. The workaway also provided free drinking water to reduce plastic usage on the island. I felt so sad to leave! Thank you to all the volunteers, local workers, and Tori and Joe! ❤️

This was my very first WorkAway experience, and it truly exceeded my expectations. From the very beginning, I felt such a great compatibility on so many levels. We worked together effortlessly, and everything flowed naturally. My tasks included gardening and maintaining the outdoor space, cooking, babysitting, and watering the plants. I also had the joy of enjoying the little beach and the river nearby — every single day I could swim and refresh myself, which made the work even more enjoyable. I had my own cozy wooden cabin, which gave me the perfect private space. I really appreciated that there was a clear weekly plan, yet there was no strict counting of minutes — we simply worked well together, in a pleasant and supportive atmosphere. Spending time with their little one was also a true pleasure — such a sweet, well-behaved, and playful child, with whom you can truly enjoy beautiful moments. The family here was always caring and attentive, making sure I felt good and comfortable. For a WorkAway experience, where sometimes you might expect modest conditions, here it was quite the opposite — the living conditions were excellent. It was truly a joy to be here, and my soul felt safe and at home. I am deeply grateful for this experience and for the kindness I received. Many thanks to the whole family for welcoming me so warmly and allowing me to feel so good here. I truly wish to meet more people like them along my journey.
