I spent almost a month at this wonderful school as a volunteer teacher of English, actually a facilitator/ guest speaker. My job was not to teach, but turn theory into practice, meaning talk with students, make them speak English in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed every minute of it! I learned so much from the students, and I admire their eagerness to learn, improve, advance their life and career. I was welcomed by the school team from the first contact (by phone first) and it was a love at first sight. They arranged my arrival ( 02.00 am), received me as member of family, provided accommodation and breakfast, timely schedule, days off, lessons of Arabic, took us out for a meal, and even to a family for a traditional delicious Morroccan meal! Any time I needed information or help with travel, taxis, they were eager to help. The atmosphere at the school is great. It is like a beehive. Sara, Linda, Hasna, Kauzar, Mohsen are a great team, always asking for feedback, wishing to improve the work, always with a smile, nice words of praise and understanding. The volunteers have the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom at their disposal all day long. I enjoyed spending time with Romi, Tina, Java, we all were like a family of volunteers from literally all parts of the world ( Serbia, Italy, Australia, Pakistan). I used my days off to explore Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Chefchaouen, El Jadida... From my point of view, this was my best volunteering experience ever! I am grateful to the School for their love, care, hospitality and kindness. I am still full of memories of the people and the country. All that was pissible thanks to DAR School. They are hardworking, reliable, caring, and above all they follow their noble vision. I love you all and would love to see you again. Slavica

Dear Caroline, thank you for the opportunity to work with you and the children. We have enjoyed teaching the students so so much, preparing English classes and planning small outdoor activities with them. They absolutely loved the Volleyball we brought with us and that really made us smile. Absolute Highlights: 🙂 As a couple we had our own room during our stay, so there was lots of privacy for us. A big plus was the ocean view everyday. The beach is less than 5mins walking distance away. 🙂 We were allowed to use Caroline’s bicycle’s. This gave us the opportunity to ride to the nearby beaches, shops and to explore the fishing village. 🙂 Caroline provided us with cooked food or groceries. Additionally, she owns a water dispenser (hot and cold) which is very sustainable as we did not buy any plastic water bottles at all. 🙂 There were two other Volunteers during our stay which we got along with so well. We had great conversations, cooked and shared our meals. On top of that we celebrated Halloween in Tuy Hoa together. Suggested improvements: ☹️ Generally, we would recommend a better face-to-face communication as well as a better organization of the every day English classes. Hence the reason, why we have decided to give 4 out of 5 stars. Nobody‘s perfect but it is all about a decent communication and honesty. Overall, we had a great time at Caroline‘s and would definitely recommend her community place to other Workaway Volunteers. We have enjoyed our time heaps and specifically learning about the Vietnamese culture, cuisine and traditions. We are leaving with gratitude and say thank you for the experience! Take care and all the best. Adrian & Shanice

Adham is very friendly. The workaway experience was very enjoyable for me, I found the amount of work in exchange for accommodation to be fair. I helped the house keeping woman with blankets and rugs for a small amount of time in the morning. Adham does his best to make sure you’re comfortable and enjoying your stay. The location is very nice, near many markets and places to eat and a short walking distance to the sea. There is a tunnel that goes under the street so you don’t need to worry about crossing the road and the tram is also a 1 or 2 minute walk away. I definitely recommend this workaway experience.

I was fortunate enough to spend a little over four months here, initially planned for only two, and I couldn't have asked for anything better. This place is much more than just a retreat centre, it is a space for transformation, sharing and learning, a true return to the earth and to the essentials. I learned a lot about myself, and I'm leaving with a full heart, renewed energy, and immense gratitude to all the people who bring this magical place to life. The people who work there are some of the best souls I have ever met in my life, the work and food are incredible, and the accommodation is magical. If you want to work in the heart of nature, learn or deepen your knowledge of permaculture and yoga, and live within an incredible community, go for it, you won't regret it :)

Chaman and his family are without any doubt the best people we have met during our journey. They immediately welcomed us and made us feel at home, creating bonds that will last over time. Thanks to Chaman, we deepened our understanding of the culture and customs of Rajasthan, immersing ourselves for a week in the Indian countryside, among animals, sand dunes and unspoiled nature. It was fascinating to listen to Chaman talk about his land and his future projects, we can't wait to return to see the progress and improvements. Spending time with him enriched us as human beings, and we could not have made a better choice than coming to Samrau. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, Chaman, Neha, Sumi, Cheran, and all the other wonderful people, spending time with you was a pleasure and an honour for us. You will always be our Indian family! See you soon ♥️

This was my first Workaway experience and it was honestly so amazing, incredible. Lucia is such a wonderful person, kind, funny, very open minded and Genuine, Also Pier Ganni is a very likable character once you get to know him, Kaya, which is the dog, is a very nice little creature, very friendly/well behaved and lovely. There was always, amazing food, with a very genuine family-like atmosphere, which I absolutely loved, I felt so welcomed and home at Lucia's house and would love to come back one day. The work was very nice and I really enjoyed working outside, not really hard at all, mostly cutting, trimming, planting, aswell as some indoor stuff, Lucia also took us on trips to the market, the sea, etc and made me feel so welcomed, she is truly a beam of light in this day and age and I warmly recommend her house to anybody and everybody! Much love and many thanks! Ciaoo! ❤️

We spent 3 amazing weeks with this fun generous family. We were able to help with many tasks around their property, from helping in the garden with Anoek's Mum, turning the garden beds, maintaining the fledgling orchard and digging and storing 230kg of potatoes! Anoek and Julius are fantastic hosts who made sure we were comfortable with everything around their property and took the time to know our strengths and give tasks that we could accomplish for them. The whole family was so welcoming to us even though we couldn't speak Dutch, Anoek and Julius' English is really clear and they helped us learn a few Dutch words and sayings. They helped us celebrate Harrys birthday and taught us how to make an amazing vegan cheesecake- it was so enjoyable to share it together. They provided bikes for us for adventures on days off and for shopping, and gave us money to do our own shopping which allowed us independence for our dietary needs. The tiny home was well equipped to make the stay relaxing, it was so beautiful to wake up to the sun coming out through the oak trees or to have a small fire watching the sky turn from dusk to night. Each day either Julius or Anoek or both came to check in with how our day was going but also to chat with us to get to know us both which was very kind and thoughtful with their already busy schedule. Thankyou for a amazing time, we hope our paths cross again! Harry and Zoe

Had a wonderful stay with Elke and Katia in Pouch Cove. It is located right by a section of the East Coast Trail, so if you like hiking or trail running this will be a Mecca for you. With the autumn colours my mouth dropped many times by the mix of vegetation colours and cliff views. I mostly helped out in the garden with various tasks and helped out with fixing up the fence for the goats and hens. Another major bonus of staying here was having the opportunity to hang out with and walk buddy who may be the sweetest dog in Newfoundland. Elke is very well connected in the community so you will most likely meet lots of interesting people if you stay here. Very thankful to have this as my first Workaway experience!

First of all, we missed all of you Dr. Karma, Dr. Tenzin, sister Raj, and of course the children (cats and dogs). We spent 10 days at this peaceful sanctuary. A spacious clean villa with a beautiful garden in a nice neighborhood. We had a clear enjoyable routine, especially the morning routine. waking up early to the meditation and the mindful movements (guided by Dr. Karma) were one our favorite parts. We're thankful that we got accepted as a couple to stay at the villa. We learned a lot about Buddhism and Sikhism. We particularly liked the Gurudwara (I hope it's spelled correctly). Things I only saw in movies, I got to see, experience, even wear clothes, ... ahhh what a wonderful memory! And gosh! sister Raj's food is incredibly yummy!! I missed singing together Hindi and Punjabi songs. We (Bassem and Meriam) are deeply grateful for this unforgettable experience with all of you. We wish you stay healthy and happy. Sending you much love

Filipe is a really friendly and easy-going guy. He helped us a lot in the garden and cooked for us. We especially enjoyed our conversations with him. He speaks many languages and lived as well as worked in different countries. It is really interesting when he share his insights about his experiences there. He also works as a teacher and could help us with the homework of our boys, which was amazing. We would always love to welcome him again - and hope that he will do that when he come backs after his world travel to share his experiences ;-)

I spent a bit over a month at this wonderful place and I really enjoyed it. I liked the work, especially the outside ones (there is a great view of the mountains), which were weeding, mulching, breaking up branches for the fire, bringing in turf and timber. Marie was very kind to me, she often offered to take me with her when she went to run some errands, so I could see a lot of the nearby area. I really enjoyed chatting with her, I learned a lot about Ireland and I also picked up a few Irish words thanks to her. Rover and Lexi were really cute and friendly, and they sometimes kept me company while working. I also liked going for a walk in the nearby mountains, which offered a picturesque view. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience Marie!

Laura is a wonderful young lady. It was a privilege to have a such a nice guests in my home. Laura can do tasks (such as cleaning and cooking) without supervizion. She knows what to do and she does the work responsibly, fast and well. When Laura came, I was in recovery after the injury (I could not walk ), Laura took care of the house and also of myself. Laura is kind, respectful, hard worker, honest, brave, trustworthy and greatful. Laura likes to learn new things with a positive attitude. She learns fast, too. Laura is a good teamleader , she can also work as a Members of a team and also independently. She speaks good English. Laura loves to discover new foods, new culture and new places. Laura stayed for less than 2 weeks. I wish she could stay for ever.

Jan is a nice and gentle man. He takes care of his guests and provides them with food and shelter. Your accomodation can vary between a tiny house, a tent or a room inside the house. The work for me included mostly gardening, digging and raking. But it can also include painting, cleaning and cooking depending on your interests and skills. The location is wonderful close to wonderful cliffs overlooking the sea and you can walk to Nazaré. You can also borrow bikes that he lends out. My favorite activity during the free time was probably to take bike rides and walks in the beautiful surroundings. I appreciate that Jan hosts multiple people at the same time so that I could have the opportunity to meet amazing people like Sean, Kicki, Feli and Luca. I also like that he let's the volunteers cook because it allows for great cultural exchange and fun experiences. Thank you Jan for this wonderful experience. I really appreciated it.

I had such a lovely time staying with Midori and her family in Fukui. It was a short visit, but every day felt warm, meaningful, and full of great moments. Midori has so much energy and passion. She took me to a vegan event and even a Halloween party! I was really inspired by how active she is in her community and how much she cares about people, sustainability, and cultural exchange. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and I left feeling very motivated and happy. She was incredibly kind to pick me up and drop me off at the station even though she was busy, I appreciated that so much. I also got to meet another Workawayer during my stay, and it was exciting to connect with someone from a different culture, share experiences, and learn from each other. Playing with the kids, enjoying homemade vegan food, and spending time in the peaceful countryside were all highlights. It felt cozy, real, and very special. Thank you so much, Midori, for welcoming me and letting me be part of your life for a few days. I learned a lot and felt truly at home. I hope to visit again someday, sending warm wishes to you and your lovely family!

If I was to get straight to the point, I would say to other hosts, "If these guys contact you, don't hesitate. Say YES" We had an incredibly positive experience with Francois Xavier, Jacqueline and their two wonderful children. They stayed with us for over two weeks. They are SUCH hard workers. All of them. Capable at all sorts of tasks from garden care to careful installation of internet. The highlight of the experience was probably the cultural exchange. Their daughter cooked for us. We had many conversations about culture and life. It felt like we made friends (as well as made SO much progress on our big, hot property). I will always be grateful to Workaway for making this connection. oh - one other thing - their Visas were initially delayed but we stayed in touch, and just as planned, the family fulfilled their initial plan to stay two weeks, in spite of the delay. They are people of their word.

Tyler is a wonderful young man. We were incredibly lucky to have him. He's active, intelligent, always willing to do his tasks and much more. We didn't need to tell him much; wherever he saw a need, he immediately took action, even outside of his agreed-upon hours and with tasks we hadn't even asked him to do. He's very resourceful, very decisive, and a pleasure to talk to and share stories and travel experiences with. I wish you continued success in achieving your goals and hope you'll always come back to visit us whenever you like. The door is always open for you. I'm so grateful to you, Tyler, for every little detail you show us regarding the farm, the horses, and everything else. Tyler is highly recommended and trustworthy. Thank you so much, Tyler!
