I'm so happy to have Johanne as my host. She helped me so much with the garden; there was an area I hadn't yet had the courage to tackle, and she was brilliant! But the most beautiful thing for me, and what will remain a precious gift, was the decoration of the stairs. I had this idea of making them colorful; she has artistic talent, so I showed her some photos I liked, and she did everything herself. She was meticulous and brilliant. Every time I do the stairs now, I feel immense joy. I really love how people who pass by the farmhouse leave their mark on the beautiful things they've created.

Karl and Taline are two absolutely wonderful volunteers. They are gentle, calm, and a bit quiet, but in the most beautiful way possible. Both have such kind hearts and bring a peaceful, positive energy wherever they go. Even without saying much, their actions always show care, respect, and sincerity. During their stay, Karl and Taline worked very hard and were always responsible and reliable. They helped with everything , from small daily tasks to more creative or detailed projects, and they did it all with patience and dedication. They are very independent and observant, always willing to lend a hand whenever something needs to be done. What touched me most was how respectfully they connected with the local community. They were always polite, curious, and genuinely eager to learn about Vietnamese culture and lifestyle. Their presence made everyone feel comfortable and appreciated. I truly value their kindness, maturity, and quiet strength. Karl and Taline are two lovely souls who bring light and warmth wherever they go. I’m deeply grateful for their time here and would be so happy to welcome them back anytime, like dear friends coming home

Helena is an amazing volunteer! She’s positive, understanding, hardworking, cheerful, and always takes responsibility for what she does. She is independent and always willing to help me and the local community in any way she can. I truly appreciate her attitude and contribution — it was a real pleasure having her here, and I’d be very happy to meet her again in the future. She is one of the most volunteers that I host. Thank you a lot for everything!

We stayed with Undine, Simon and Tilmar for about a month and all we can say is that it was a lovely experience :) Undine and Simon were very welcoming and really made us feel like we were a part of their little family. We stayed with them during October so a lot of the work we did around the farm was preparing for the winter, stacking firewood, planting trees, harvesting the last of the potatoes and clearing up the garden. The work was always fun and balanced and we had a lot of free time to just hang out and explore the area. Undine and Simon also introduced us to a lot of their friends which gave us a little taste of how fun and special of a place Näsåker is. Thanks for everything and hopefully see you guys again :))

I had an incredible experience helping out at the English centers in both Karaganda and Balkhash over the past month. Although Anna no longer lives in KZ, she did a wonderful job organizing everything to make my experience as smooth as possible. In Karaganda I stayed in a paid-for apartment, and in Balkhash I stayed with Anna's friends Victor and Elena, who were wonderful hosts! There was plenty of opportunity for cultural exchange, and at no point did I feel overworked. Some highlights included a hockey game with a family of Russian immigrants I met in Karaganda and making Laghman with Victor and Elena in Balkhash. Work in the school was a great learning experience. I feel significantly more confident teaching English as a foreign language now, and the teachers helped support me. And they were all very friendly too. I hung out with a couple of them on multiple occasions, and I was shown around by more. Balkhash is a simple city and there is not really much to do, so you will find making friends is the best way to spend time. Karaganda was cool too- if you have the opportunity to go there, do. The school there is very simple but the city is more interesting. The students are wonderful too and generally very curious about where you are from (although they can be shy!). Overall my experience with this Workaway was wonderful, and I can whole-heartedly recommend this one!

Bella spent 2 months with us in August and September 2025. She fitted into our family life and routine so well and the kids really enjoyed her company. Paddy especially loved going for walks with her, playing games. We showed her how we run our family farm also and she observed and learned alot. Amy loved playing board games, card games , walks and trampoline games with Bella and of course soccer with Micheál. All the best in the future and we would highly recommend her to any future families.

Thank you Frank for the beautiful place and experience that you created. When I arrived, I directly felt that this place had good energy. I’m so glad for everything I have learned here and the variety of activities that we did. From making bricks (I hope the swimming pool will be ready soon 😂) to taking care of plants , making a garden and a beautiful table, I for sure enhance a lot of skills. If you come here you will learn to live slowly, take time for each activity, live with nature. But you will also learn to live in community and create sharing moments, learn about yourself and for sure improve a lot of technical skills (carpentry, gardening,…). Frank is a really nice person , who is transparent about how he feels and what he thinks. He knows a lot about a bit of everything and is always down to learn you what you want to know. I really gonna miss this peaceful place , from waking up with the sun and the sounds of the birds, to taking the bests showers in the jungle, to eat the BEST paltas on earth, to cook with fire and for sure all the sharing moments that we created.

I spent almost a month at this wonderful school as a volunteer teacher of English, actually a facilitator/ guest speaker. My job was not to teach, but turn theory into practice, meaning talk with students, make them speak English in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed every minute of it! I learned so much from the students, and I admire their eagerness to learn, improve, advance their life and career. I was welcomed by the school team from the first contact (by phone first) and it was a love at first sight. They arranged my arrival ( 02.00 am), received me as member of family, provided accommodation and breakfast, timely schedule, days off, lessons of Arabic, took us out for a meal, and even to a family for a traditional delicious Morroccan meal! Any time I needed information or help with travel, taxis, they were eager to help. The atmosphere at the school is great. It is like a beehive. Sara, Linda, Hasna, Kauzar, Mohsen are a great team, always asking for feedback, wishing to improve the work, always with a smile, nice words of praise and understanding. The volunteers have the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom at their disposal all day long. I enjoyed spending time with Romi, Tina, Java, we all were like a family of volunteers from literally all parts of the world ( Serbia, Italy, Australia, Pakistan). I used my days off to explore Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Chefchaouen, El Jadida... From my point of view, this was my best volunteering experience ever! I am grateful to the School for their love, care, hospitality and kindness. I am still full of memories of the people and the country. All that was pissible thanks to DAR School. They are hardworking, reliable, caring, and above all they follow their noble vision. I love you all and would love to see you again. Slavica

Dear Caroline, thank you for the opportunity to work with you and the children. We have enjoyed teaching the students so so much, preparing English classes and planning small outdoor activities with them. They absolutely loved the Volleyball we brought with us and that really made us smile. Absolute Highlights: 🙂 As a couple we had our own room during our stay, so there was lots of privacy for us. A big plus was the ocean view everyday. The beach is less than 5mins walking distance away. 🙂 We were allowed to use Caroline’s bicycle’s. This gave us the opportunity to ride to the nearby beaches, shops and to explore the fishing village. 🙂 Caroline provided us with cooked food or groceries. Additionally, she owns a water dispenser (hot and cold) which is very sustainable as we did not buy any plastic water bottles at all. 🙂 There were two other Volunteers during our stay which we got along with so well. We had great conversations, cooked and shared our meals. On top of that we celebrated Halloween in Tuy Hoa together. Suggested improvements: ☹️ Generally, we would recommend a better face-to-face communication as well as a better organization of the every day English classes. Hence the reason, why we have decided to give 4 out of 5 stars. Nobody‘s perfect but it is all about a decent communication and honesty. Overall, we had a great time at Caroline‘s and would definitely recommend her community place to other Workaway Volunteers. We have enjoyed our time heaps and specifically learning about the Vietnamese culture, cuisine and traditions. We are leaving with gratitude and say thank you for the experience! Take care and all the best. Adrian & Shanice

Adham is very friendly. The workaway experience was very enjoyable for me, I found the amount of work in exchange for accommodation to be fair. I helped the house keeping woman with blankets and rugs for a small amount of time in the morning. Adham does his best to make sure you’re comfortable and enjoying your stay. The location is very nice, near many markets and places to eat and a short walking distance to the sea. There is a tunnel that goes under the street so you don’t need to worry about crossing the road and the tram is also a 1 or 2 minute walk away. I definitely recommend this workaway experience.

I was fortunate enough to spend a little over four months here, initially planned for only two, and I couldn't have asked for anything better. This place is much more than just a retreat centre, it is a space for transformation, sharing and learning, a true return to the earth and to the essentials. I learned a lot about myself, and I'm leaving with a full heart, renewed energy, and immense gratitude to all the people who bring this magical place to life. The people who work there are some of the best souls I have ever met in my life, the work and food are incredible, and the accommodation is magical. If you want to work in the heart of nature, learn or deepen your knowledge of permaculture and yoga, and live within an incredible community, go for it, you won't regret it :)

Chaman and his family are without any doubt the best people we have met during our journey. They immediately welcomed us and made us feel at home, creating bonds that will last over time. Thanks to Chaman, we deepened our understanding of the culture and customs of Rajasthan, immersing ourselves for a week in the Indian countryside, among animals, sand dunes and unspoiled nature. It was fascinating to listen to Chaman talk about his land and his future projects, we can't wait to return to see the progress and improvements. Spending time with him enriched us as human beings, and we could not have made a better choice than coming to Samrau. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, Chaman, Neha, Sumi, Cheran, and all the other wonderful people, spending time with you was a pleasure and an honour for us. You will always be our Indian family! See you soon ♥️

This was my first Workaway experience and it was honestly so amazing, incredible. Lucia is such a wonderful person, kind, funny, very open minded and Genuine, Also Pier Ganni is a very likable character once you get to know him, Kaya, which is the dog, is a very nice little creature, very friendly/well behaved and lovely. There was always, amazing food, with a very genuine family-like atmosphere, which I absolutely loved, I felt so welcomed and home at Lucia's house and would love to come back one day. The work was very nice and I really enjoyed working outside, not really hard at all, mostly cutting, trimming, planting, aswell as some indoor stuff, Lucia also took us on trips to the market, the sea, etc and made me feel so welcomed, she is truly a beam of light in this day and age and I warmly recommend her house to anybody and everybody! Much love and many thanks! Ciaoo! ❤️

We spent 3 amazing weeks with this fun generous family. We were able to help with many tasks around their property, from helping in the garden with Anoek's Mum, turning the garden beds, maintaining the fledgling orchard and digging and storing 230kg of potatoes! Anoek and Julius are fantastic hosts who made sure we were comfortable with everything around their property and took the time to know our strengths and give tasks that we could accomplish for them. The whole family was so welcoming to us even though we couldn't speak Dutch, Anoek and Julius' English is really clear and they helped us learn a few Dutch words and sayings. They helped us celebrate Harrys birthday and taught us how to make an amazing vegan cheesecake- it was so enjoyable to share it together. They provided bikes for us for adventures on days off and for shopping, and gave us money to do our own shopping which allowed us independence for our dietary needs. The tiny home was well equipped to make the stay relaxing, it was so beautiful to wake up to the sun coming out through the oak trees or to have a small fire watching the sky turn from dusk to night. Each day either Julius or Anoek or both came to check in with how our day was going but also to chat with us to get to know us both which was very kind and thoughtful with their already busy schedule. Thankyou for a amazing time, we hope our paths cross again! Harry and Zoe

Had a wonderful stay with Elke and Katia in Pouch Cove. It is located right by a section of the East Coast Trail, so if you like hiking or trail running this will be a Mecca for you. With the autumn colours my mouth dropped many times by the mix of vegetation colours and cliff views. I mostly helped out in the garden with various tasks and helped out with fixing up the fence for the goats and hens. Another major bonus of staying here was having the opportunity to hang out with and walk buddy who may be the sweetest dog in Newfoundland. Elke is very well connected in the community so you will most likely meet lots of interesting people if you stay here. Very thankful to have this as my first Workaway experience!
