I spent a month at this dog hospital and I can say it was a life-changing experience. The team is dedicated and does an incredible job in often difficult conditions. I felt welcomed and I learned so much about animal care and resilience. However, I want future volunteers to be aware of the reality of the place: it is an emotionally heavy environment. During my short stay, unfortunately, we lost several puppies. It is a raw experience that requires great mental strength and the ability to cope with daily grief and pain. If you are looking for a place where you can truly make a difference and you are prepared to face real emotional challenges, I highly recommend it. If you are looking for a light experience just to play with dogs, this might not be the right place for you. Thank you for everything you do for these souls.

Being fairly new to the Workaway program we weren't really sure what to expect. We were therefore delighted when Peter & Gail arrived, quickly settling in, and even more quickly getting on with the jobs we had ready. They were easy company and very dedicated to doing a very good job - whether it be painting, gardening or cleaning up around the house. They don't stop! Thank you Peter & Gail, you helped us out enormously.

Katrin is a friendly and lovely young woman. She helped me so much to clean the stables and all places round the farm. Absolutely reliable and able to work alone and in a team. She took care of the old mare "Lucy" and she loved it, to be busy. So it was a comfortable time together. Her favorite work was in the garden. Here she had wonderful ideas and made a lot of realy good work. Thank you so much for all your wonderful help.

I stayed three weeks at Guillermo’s place, and it was a very relaxing experience I needed to recover from HaNoi air pollution poisoning. The resort is cute and cozy, located about a 15-minute walk from the beach. The bungalow is private and has a Robinson Crusoe–like vibe (no air conditioning or hot water, with a palm leaf roof), but it features a big, comfortable bed with a mosquito net.Communication with Guillermo was always easy and pleasant, and I really enjoyed teaching Sorya. I really appreciated Paou’s kindness—she welcomed me into her kitchen, let me cook whatever I liked, took me along to the local market, and happily taught me how to prepare her traditional dishes whenever I asked. I recovered well, thank you.

Lea was a pleasure to host; she stayed with us for 2 weeks and helped in many different jobs, from compost making to weeding and making bird feeders. She communicates very well and picks up tasks very easily and can carry them out independently. During meals she was always willing to help.

We spent 2 weeks with Samadhi and the rest of the wonderful people, and we really wish we could have stayed longer it was such a lovely experience. The place itself is so remote, completely surrounded by nature, and so peaceful. Rooms are basic but have everything you need. There is so much space and hammocks for relaxing in the afternoon! A short walk away is a natural pool for a refreshing dip. During our time here we were so well looked after. All the meals were delicious, and we got to learn lots about Sri Lankan cooking. There was always someone making fresh juice (ask for wood apple juice!!!) or making tea and offering snacks between meals. Besides from that the work itself was truly special. The projects Samadhi is running are so inspiring and radical and we feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to contribute. When we arrived Samadhi explained all about the project and they we were able to chose how we wanted to contribute. We both spent our time working on different projects based on our previous work experience. In the afternoons all international and local volunteers spend an hour gardening together. Everyone at the project is so welcoming and supportive and you really feel part of the community very quickly. We had some fun evenings dancing and sharing each others music, or playing games. We highly recommend this Workaway and hope that we can return one day. Thank you Samadi, Dilina and everyone else 💛 We are very grateful for this opportunity!

Had an absolutely amazing experience! The family was so welcoming and kind. I learned so much during my stay—from the basics of growing vegetables to the work of cutting wood, and even the art of baking fresh bread. Such a fulfilling time!

I stayed for two weeks in January at the ski resort. Despite not a long stay, I got the chance to work at various checkpoints. The deal was fair - you got ski pass when being put on shift that day. The work was 3 hours per day and not hard, surrounding by mountains was definitely a highlight. I shared the apartment with some international female volunteers and they're super kind, we had chats and hung out sometimes during our free time; other volunteers were very friendly as well that it's amazing to understand more about other cultures. Miscommunications happened occasionally, but that's part of the experience - after all not everyone's native nor perfect in English. The stay was enjoyable in general and I'd hope to stay longer. Thanks Tal for the unique opportunity :)

Natsumi is lovable, nice and hard working. She is willing to learn new things, and she is good a cooking and making origami. She did every task she was asked of. Natsumi is young and still not fully trained in all tasks. But she has the best attitude and wants to learn and to help. With a bit more experience, she will be a super help for anyone. Natsumi is very good with people, and empathetic and positive. She is studying to be a doctor, and I believe she would be amazing in any position taking care of children, animals, older people etc. Because she is really that kind of person, who makes you feel good.

I only stayed with Margie and Ian for two nights but the time I had there was highly enjoyable! The food Margie prepared was so delicious and nourishing, and Ian never lacked in entertaining commentary. Jobs were all totally reasonable and enjoyable. Nice, super cozy room. Highly recommend!!

What an absolutely fantastic family!! I have stayed with Kristen, Hamish, and Jai twice already and I'm sure I will again. They're all so personable and welcoming. They included me in all of their fun/exciting hikes, out rings, and beach days. You really can't ask for anything better as far as accommodation. As an on-foot traveler having my own clean, dry, comfortable space was truly luxurious. The work exchange was totally reasonable. I really had such a fantastic time, I can't recommend them enough!!

Absolutely more beauty than I could ever hope to describe. I was at the farm for an extended stay, early Feb-May. If you have the chance to stay here, please do and soak up every moment you have. I felt so immediately welcomed by everyone here and everyone they so thoughtfully introduced me to in the broader circle. This is such a lovely and unique conscious community, as a woman I was particularly struck by the strength, full-bodied character, and esoteric beauty of the women I met while staying here. The work exchange was entirely reasonable, I felt valued and had many opportunities to learn. From the bottom of my heart thank you for all you gave!!!!

Lisa and Craig are amazing Hosts and the vineyards are beautiful. The rooms and house are very grand and Lisa cooks amazing food that feels very much like a home. I also learned so much about wine making. They made an effort to show and teach us as much as possible. thank you again Lisa and Craig:)

So sad to leave Konnie and Stefan's stead! We stayed for just a week but they made us feel at home. For me (Gonzalo) this was my first Workaway experience and I did not know what to expect as it'd be something entirely new. Nothing could have prepared me for how welcomed they both made me and by extension us feel. They gave us anything we needed to do the job (and we hope they liked it as much as we did carrying it out), with a break close to noon during which we shared stories and got to know each other, and ate great food, some of which they grow themselves. They were truly lovely, and a lot of fun at the pub quizzes (you must be missing us tonight haha, hope you enjoy the vouchers!). We hope you enjoy finishing your amazing home and we sure hope to cross paths again! (Paula does not easily forget a free crepe offer).

Our two weeks at the monastery were truly one of the most unique and meaningful experiences we’ve had while travelling. This is what workaway is about ❤️ This Buddhist monastic community offers a rare opportunity to step fully into monastic life. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with kindness. The environment is simple, quiet, and grounding. We had private rooms which were so warm and cozy with a little desk, we slept so well! The food is unbelievable, buffets of fresh, local vegetarian food. This was the best food we had in Korea 100%. Days begin early with morning meditation at 5am, followed by meals, work, and evening meditation, we quickly came to appreciate the rhythm and purpose of each day. We also had some afternoon activities like yoga and dharma style talks. Living alongside the monks, we gained a genuine insight into what monastic life is really like...not just meditation, but a strong emphasis on community, discipline, and self-sufficiency. The work was physically demanding but incredibly rewarding. Tasks ranged from preparing large batches of traditional kimchi, to building stone walls, to processing donated onions. It could be tough at times, but it also became a form of meditation in itself, an opportunity to be fully present and engaged in each moment. What stood out most was that the monks worked alongside us tirelessly, always with calmness and dedication. We always worked together like a team and enjoyed some tea together afterwards. The meditation practice was a highlight. We were guided in Anapanasati (mindfulness of breath), and had the chance to deepen our understanding through both practice and conversations with one of the monks, who generously offered her time, insight, and encouragement. These moments of guidance were incredibly valuable and added so much depth to the experience. We were so inspired by the experience that we both are still practicing Anapanasati everyday since our stay. This is a gift the monks have given us, that we will be forever grateful for - thank you so much 🙏 Despite the quiet and disciplined environment, this was also one of the most socially enjoyable Workaways we’ve done. We take noble silence most of the time. This means that all conversation becomes very intentional and limited, and it was interesting to observe how relationships still arise through gentle communication. The other volunteers were open, kind, and fun, and we formed genuine connections in a short space of time. We are incredibly grateful to have been part of this community, even briefly, and would highly recommend it to anyone open to a physically active, structured, and deeply enriching experience. No matter your religion, your background, your class or culture - these teachings are valuable to everyone ❤️ We will be back in the future, we miss it dearly. Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu 🙏❤️

I absolutely loved staying with Benny and his incredibly warm family. Lindsay and Linglong are two wonderful and clever girls, and I had so much fun playing and studying with them. Two weeks were way too short! I really hope our paths will cross again.

I spent a week with Sigrid and her lovely son Alex. At the beginning my experience was mixed, but by the end I really appreciated my stay there. Here is a breakdown of my experience: PLUSES: • Sigrid and her family are very kind. Alex knows a great deal about animals and Australian wildlife (go write that book!) • The work was not hard at all, anyone can do it • The farmland and the views are beautiful • They have a cat and a dog whom are both very sweet • During my stay, I had to do an interview for a university place. Sigrid made sure to accommodate this for me • Sigrid loves Naruto and anime • After a particularly horrible experience at my next host, Sigrid gave me a call and offered to reference me for a ski job at Falls Creek should I need it. We had a lovely chat. She's a very loyal person and will help you out if you need it! DOWNSIDES: • When I arrived, I had to sleep on a sofa for two nights before one of her sons left and a bed became available • Even though the work was easy, it was very much based on what Sigrid wanted me to do in the moment. I would have to ask for work and then she would find something for me to do. I would have preferred a clearer schedule as even though I only worked a few hours per day, I spent a lot of the day lingering for jobs and so I would be ready at 10am and only be able to relax after around 5pm • The dog will wake you up at 5-6am • The dog interrupted my interview WHAT I WOULD IMPROVE: The only two things that could have made this experience better would be • stating clearly on the Workaway site if a tent or a sofa is the only sleeping option • a to-do list of tasks that the workawayer can read in the morning and get tasks done more efficiently My actual rating would be 4.5 stars, but since Workaway doesn't allow half stars it's only fair to round up. I would like to stress that the positives of this host far outshone any loud dogs or haphazard job allocation. Thank you so much Sigrid!

Our new friend Thea has many hidden talents and gifts. She and another girl lived on our farm for two weeks. To be honest, we were worried about whether they would be comfortable in the same room. However, from the very first minutes they found a common language. Moreover, Thea became like a connecting link between all of us. She has a kind heart and is very sensitive to others. It seems it was difficult for her to do some hard work at times. But she didn't complain and tried to keep up with everyone. We must admit that she is easy to learn and not difficult to work with in a team. Therefore, with all our heart, we recommend her to you.! We miss you, Thea! And we are looking forward to your video on YouTube))) With warmth, Yeldos, Gulnara, Raya
