What a pleasure to have Luna here. You will be lucky to host her. She shows a lot of energy and enthusiasm as well as curiosity for nature and self development. Thank you for the farewell poem, the tasty food and the energy during the days. Welcome back anytime :D

I stayed with Steve and Sandy for about two weeks in September last year — my first Workaway experience — and it was truly amazing. Steve and Sandy are wonderful, kind, and relaxed hosts with a great sense of humor. The tasks (together with Angel and Serena, two other great Workawayers) were easy and enjoyable: feeding the chickens, watering plants, cleaning, and small daily projects we discussed every morning. There was no stress or rigid schedule — after completing the tasks, everyone could enjoy their free time. Steve and Sandy are not morning people, usually waking up around 9–10 a.m., so there’s no pressure to wake up early. This made the experience very relaxed — exactly what a Workaway should be: a cultural exchange with some work in calm and friendly conditions. The views from the porch were breathtaking — mountains and sea on the horizon, perfect for morning coffee. And the night sky was full of stars — I have never seen so many. I even wished I had my telescope, as I love astronomy. The village is about 15 minutes away on foot with a store and train station to Barcelona, and the town is 10 minutes by car. There’s also a beautiful lake just 5 minutes from the house. As this is an off-grid home, resources are used carefully: showers are not daily, and water for dishes is limited. For me, this was not a problem, but if you are very particular about cleanliness, it may be different for you. Overall, this was a 5-star experience. Thank you, Steve and Sandy, for making me feel at home and part of your family. I hope to visit again someday!

Thank you Alice I had a wonderful month! If you are a person who loves animals and spending your time outside, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! It's hard to put all the experiences I made into words, but I will try my best. The work: Although sometimes, it is hard physical work, I really enjoyed the work. You spend all your time outside and the animals are so amazing! They make every work day really special and exciting. Each of them has their own interesting character and they really grow on you overtime. You can tell how much Alice loves all the animals and it's great to contribute to their well-being with your work. The food: Alice provides basic groceries and regularly checked in with me, if I had enough. Requesting certain special groceries was not a problem either. Despite the food I could prepare in my own little kitchen in the campervan, Alice cooked for us every second evening or so. The meals were super delicious all the time! The accommodation: I slept in a cozy and clean campervan and a toilet was nearby. In the time of my stay Alice's boyfriend built an amazing shower for the workawayer. I stayed in January and yes, the nights sometimes get really cold. I would recommend bringing thermo underwear. Despite that I got two big blankets, two hot water bottles and Alice and Guiseppe regularly checked in, if I slept warm and was comfortable. So if you come prepared, the temperatures are really well manageable. Communication: Alice personally showed me how to take care of the refugio and was always available if I had any questions or concerns. Apart from the work, I could always talk to her if something was up and felt super comfortable to do so! It was my first time traveling alone and Guiseppe and Alice made me feel really welcomed from the minute I arrived. Alice often expressed how thankful she was for my work and was reassuring me all the time. Again, thank you so much Alice and Guiseppe.♥️

Kay is an easygoing and wonderful person. She doesn’t wait to be asked — she naturally feels what needs to be done and is always ready to help. She is very responsible in her work and especially great with kids. Kay brings fun, joy, and positive energy into the home. She prepared a lovely presentation for the children and even cooked delicious Singaporean food for us. We truly loved having her with us and would be very happy to host her again. Our home is always open for you, dear Kay!

We spent three weeks at Rohan’s place and they were absolutely fantastic! Rohan is a host who makes you feel at home straight away: he always has a joke ready, a few anecdotes to share, is genuinely interested in hearing about your day and your life, and knows how to put you at ease. We stayed with him during the time we were looking for a job in Australia, and when we found one Rohan was extremely understanding and flexible. He is a deep person with a kind soul, and we will always carry him in our hearts. Moreover, his house is well connected to St Kilda and the CBD, and he is the best tour guide in Melbourne! Highly recommended 🥰 Rohan, thank you again!

Definitely believe all these positive feedbacks, the best experiences you can have for workaway. You’ll feel at home from day 1, eat great, and have peace and quiet. Not a bad word can be said. I cherish and appreciate my time spent with yael and henk, and will be back in the future hopefully

Had such a special experience in Smara volunteering at Lahcen's language school as an English teacher. I found so many enthusiastic and eager pupils that were so fun to teach and work with. I was able to test out my lesson plans and ideas and developed so much as a teacher during my time at the school. Furthermore, I found a community to really connect and join with. I would spend so much of my free time playing with the kids in the neighbourhood, either football or drawing or races or hide and seek, you name it. While the neighbours would invite me over for giant shared lunches. Lahcen is a very kind and driven leader who made sure I was well looked after and we shared many great conversations, meals and laughs. I was in Smara but Lahcen is opening a new school in Assa. I was also there briefly to help interview new teachers. I think the new school will be an amazing place to volunteer, while Assa seemed a beautiful place surrounded by mountains. As advice for those going, be as prepared as you can with a range of different lesson plans as you will be working with pupils from kids to adults and from beginners to intermediate, and they will need different styles of lessons and materials. I made a video for the Smara school that I will try to share on here too so you can get a sense of the experience I had. I was sad to leave my new friends in Smara and I hope to see everyone again someday.

I lived in this farmhouse in Milken, Switzerland, for almost three months, from the beginning of November 2025 to the end of January 2026, and it was an unforgettable experience! Communication with both Chris and Ama was always very smooth. I always felt welcome to express what worked best for me based on my preferences and needs, and I also tried to be easy-going. Regarding work, the agreement we had made was always respected over these three months. We were both willing to accommodate each other's needs and be flexible when necessary. They made me feel that, no matter what happened, they would always be there to support me if they could. Both Chris and Ama made me feel at home, eager to help me adapt, and willing to help me find interesting things to do in my leisure time. As a result, we developed a deeper relationship that went beyond professional collaboration. We shared many funny, light-hearted moments, as both of them have a great sense of humor, and we also engaged in deeper conversations on a range of topics. Living in a place that is not well-connected to a big urban city – especially for three months – can be quite challenging, but overall, it worked well for me. I found a good balance between spending time on my own in the beautiful, serene environment during the weekdays and traveling or meeting friends over the weekend. It was truly a memorable experience for me. I learned several things about agriculture, animals, insulation, and Swiss culture, and I hope that I also contributed positively to the overall progress of the farm. Chris and Ama, thank you for everything ;)

Staying with Naveen and his family was a really perfect start to our trip around India. We felt so comfortable and welcomed right from start to end. Naveen was always happy to show us around places in Delhi depending on what we wanted to explore. Puja cooked us delicious food during our stay and we all played games to end each night! It was a great place to call home for our week stay and helped us settle into Delhi with ease.

I had such a great time staying with Julie, Thibaut, Tobias, Eline, and Youri! They made me feel welcome and comfortable, and there was a good balance of work, spending time together, and alone time. The work was enjoyable, and Julie and Thibaut often gave me choices for which job I would work on each day. They were also very clear and communicative about the work schedule, which I really appreciated. I especially enjoyed being invited to do fun things like visiting a museum, learning to make soap, and trying Belgian foods. We had some good laughs together, and everyone in the family joined me in making art at some point during my stay. I really enjoyed spending time with the whole family, and I hope I can come back to visit again soon!
