    Description

Hi ! I am Sandy, an English woman of 61 years old, I live with my husband Steve of 62 years old. He has very poor eyesight and I am currently deaf in one ear, this means you NEED TO SPEAK LOUDLY AND CLEARLY TO ME PLEASE 🙏🏻
We live in a beautiful wooden cabin in front of the dam/lake of Riudecanyes, with a nice view of the Riudecanyes village. We can also see the sea which is about fifteen minutes away by car to Cambrils Town.

We have a mini long haired 'sausage' dog (Dachshund) Pedro plus Riude and Canyes the rescue cats. We try to live our lives in peace, enjoying the beautiful views and tranquility.

We have a vegetable garden and do not use pesticides. We appreciate anyone who has experience and loves to help with this kind of thing as we do not really have much knowledge about gardening ourselves. If gardening is your passion... you can have free reign here 😊🙏🏻

We have a chicken coop, constructed with natural and reclaimed materials from our land. We currently don't have any chickens as they were sadly killed by a predator recently. We are planning on getting some more soon and help with them will be greatly appreciated. Cleaning out the coop and feeding them 🐔

We are not vegetarian, however we do tend to eat quite a few vegetarian dishes these days and if we do eat meat, it is usually chicken, turkey or fish. We try to eat healthy.
We prefer volunteers who can cook simple meals sometimes, as it is getting too tiring for Sandy to cook every day 😊

We aren't smokers, but you can smoke outside without a problem.
We also do not drink alcohol. If you like to drink a lot of alcohol or take drugs then this is not the place for you.

We are OFFGRID and our electricity is solar. Our water supply is from a borehole/well, 75 metres down into the ground.
We have propane gas to cook and heat the house, unless we light the log burner, which collection of wood from the surrounding forest is one of the chores, along with chopping it up.
It is very different to being connected to mainstream power sources, so we must be very MINDFUL of this and careful with usage.
We try our best to live sustainably and to waste NOTHING 😁
We have a washing machine for laundry.

We have Starlink wifi in all the house.

We both love to sample recipes from different countries 😋

We are very interested in what happens around the world.

  • Help

    Help

We need help with the maintenance of our land; Cut the grass, prune some trees, fix or rebuild stone walls, source and chop firewood and repair any breakages like wind damage etc.

Maintaining the vegetable garden, planting, watering, nurturing etc.

Feeding and caring for the chickens. Cleaning out the coop.

We also need help inside the house; small maintenance jobs and cleaning. Being MINDFUL that there is a BLIND person on site, who uses memory and touch to live.
Keep your personal space clean and tidy.
Keep the kitchen and shared bathroom clean and tidy...toilet lid down... if you'd like to know why, feel free to ask 😉

As previously stated we need volunteers who can do simple cooking and if you have some great recipes that would be fantastic 😋😁

If you have a good heart, are respectful that this is our home, NOT a hotel and want to help, you are very welcome 🧡🙏🏻🌟

We are happy to help you with your English, although because of Sandy's hearing you do need more than a beginner level.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We live in a homely and rustic wooden cabin with a comfortable MEZZANINE bedroom upstairs (please research what this means). There is a king-size bed and a single bed up there so you may be sharing the room with other volunteers,, although we do not mix males with females, unless they come here as a couple. There are two bedside tables with lamps and a chest of drawers and hanging space for your clothes etc.

We also have a smaller wooden cabin with one single bed (180cm) a chest of drawers and a small desk with chair. It has an electrical point. Unless you are very hardy, we don't usually offer this to volunteers in the winter months.

Sometimes if we host more volunteers, we use our family guestroom downstairs with two single beds, a bedside drawer stand, a lage chest of drawers and a chair.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We usually eat twice per day but understand that you may want to eat breakfast (cereals & fruit or our own free range eggs), a cold sandwich lunch and a cooked evening meal. We don't cook food at lunch time.
We do NOT provide SNACKS in between meals.

When you go shopping with Sandy, she will buy the ingredients neccesary for cooking any evening meals you would like to cook for us 🙂
You can buy your own snacks then or Riudecanyes village shop is only a 3km walk.

We are flexible with the help, but we need at least 4 hours, this can sometimes be spread out throughout the day.
If there is an emergency and we require help, the time can be compensated another day. This might mean going out searching for our dog if he decides to go walkabout.
It is really appreciated if you can still water the plants at the weekend and feed the chickens if you are here 🙏🏻

Sandy is a Bioresonance Therapist, using Quantum magnetic and frequency equipment to diagnose, treat and heal. She is extremely passionate about natural medicine.

There is one bicycle that can be used.

Staying here is like living as a family, it is NOT a business or a hotel/hostel
    🧡🙏🏻🌟
