Description
Hi, I'm Els and I'm an explorer. I've been living in my campervan for almost two years now—not exactly my first choice, but definitely a good one. I'm enjoying my life as a 'homeless' woman. It's wonderful to have a life outside. I live where the weather is nice, which means in the spring and summer in the Netherlands at a community campsite where I also work as a receptionist and bar manager. When the season is over and it gets cold, I move to other beautiful places around the world to explore. The world is my playground. I like to experiment with life and enjoy being outdoors in nature. I love animals and am always amazed and curious about everything that lives around me. So I live this free life, and with this feeling of boundless freedom and the nice people around me, the good atmosphere (and good music and food), I feel invincible. But I need a purpose in life, something to do, and people around me. That's why I'm looking for a nice place to live, a place to work and meet new nice people, a place where I can feel at home.
I feel young and have a cheerful and playful personality. I'm caring, eager to learn, and open-minded. I love having fun interspersed with good conversations about the magic of life.
For over 15 years, I worked as a hostess/receptionist for various companies. This was often hard work under high pressure. It wasn't always easy, but I enjoyed it. It was varied work, with a lot of contact with guests and colleagues. What I appreciated about this role was that, as the first point of contact, I was always kept informed of everything. It gave me a real buzz to have everything taken care of at the end of the day, to have found solutions to any problems, and to have every guest satisfied.
Currently, I work at a community campsite during the spring and summer. I've been doing this for three years now. I'm the head of reception. I manage reservations, answer emails and phone calls, welcome guests who come for their holidays, and I make myself available for all sorts of matters that arise at the campsite.
The campsite also has a professional kitchen with a nice little bar. This year, I expanded my duties and started working as a bar manager, managing a small team. I've discovered that this work suits me perfectly and aligns seamlessly with my previous experience as a hostess.
My work experience has taught me that I have excellent social skills, and I'm a good listener, a good filterer, and a solution-oriented thinker. I'm outgoing and assertive. I feel responsible for my work and find it important that guests receive good service. Therefore, I always maintain an open attitude and a smile during my work. I find it important to have fun at work and I enjoy making guests feel comfortable.
I communicate clearly and can be very direct when the situation calls for it.
Besides these skills, I also enjoy building and making things beautiful. Just as there's always something to do at the campsite, I tackle any job I think I can handle. Cleaning, tidying, sanding, plastering, painting, carpentry—it doesn't matter. I love greenery, plants, and animals, and therefore enjoy working in the garden and in the kitchen.
I also enjoy working with fabrics and can use a sewing machine. I also really enjoy woodworking and stoneworking.
