I also think that having Roos and Alwin at home was a total blessing. They did help me in many ways. They repaired some things, put some other things in order, even did some grocery shopping for me, all with a smile on their faces. We worked as a team, but they also worked very independently. Besides, it was also a pleasure to share some very interesting conversations with them. They do like keeping their meal times Dutch, but that was not an obstacle for us to bond and share some laughs and nice moments. I wish them all the best in their life adventures!

We hosted Fynn for a week and it was a great experience. He is kind, easy to have around, and did good work for us. He was working with various tools and had existing knowledge and skills to draw on that made his help with our renovation job go smoothly. Recommended!

Nos vemos y muchas gracias para todos, Lia 🧡 I spent a very special time here. Yovana, Alain and Swami are a beautiful and welcoming family and I enjoyed getting to know them and their a project a lot. We cooked together, painted buildings, I cuddled the cows, dogs and the cat! The vision of the project is big and I left inspired by their motivation and energy. I really hope to come back one day, to see everybody again (except the gallo) and to see how the project is growing :) Just the best for you guys and see u in a bit🧡

Jos and Hiröe were excellent hosts, providing nourishment, permaculture knowledge, amazing company and inspiring me to live my most authentic life. It was a privilege to be part of your growing permaculture family and I would LOVE to come back to see it in full bloom some day, hopefully with my wonderful fellow workawayer! Truly special people; thank you so much!!

This place was so nice I stayed twice during the three-month visit to Ireland. Deej was a very informative, direct, and helpful host. She's also very caring and has a wicked sense of humor. The hours were extremely manageable and we were encouraged to be a part of the space - adding to the many lives this grand house has hosted. Initially, I stayed in the cottage with another workaway and we both had plenty of privacy between upstairs and downstairs. Thereafter I was fortunate to stay in the main house. The old house is fascinating, full of traces of interwoven histories from its earliest days in the late eighteenth century onwards. Perhaps my favorite space was the red room, where I spent a lot of my evenings learning tarot and meditating. Also cuddling with lovely Olive, the resident black cat. She's gentle and wants the same, and will spend hours purring on your lap. Equally, she's respectful of boundaries if you're not keen. The grounds are quite extensive and good for taking the two dogs - a large dog, Zena, and a small one, Ziggy - out for walks. They're also eager supervisors, sometimes. Closer to the house you'll find some breathtaking artworks, both natural and human-made. Further out are seemingly endless fields leading to a great cafe that's open twice weekly. We also had the chance to visit several nearby cities, towns, and villages for art exhibitions, musical gatherings, and various events. On one of my last nights I got the opportunity to be around and help out for the annual Queer Cabaret - and what a way to end my time at here. Wonderful local and national performers and visitors to connect with. This includes Joanna, Deej's delightful support who comes weekly. She's a wonderful performance artist and a curious local who can help find some amazing places throughout the country. Though somewhat isolated, it is a phenomenal space that invites you to hear yourself and others better, and reconnect with thinking creatively, and challenge yourself to new heights. Once you get there, you are an artist and encouraged to try things out. Deej and I stay in touch now, and it's great to be a part of their ambitions. Thank you Deej!

I stayed in Roma for two weeks. My primary job is to help Fabio with the fence cutting and the weeds cleaning. Even though I don’t understand any Italian, Fabio still uses his vivid gestures to show me how to do and imitates the sounds of the machine to let me know what he wants. I really appreciate the time here because I get to know how to use some agricultural machines more. Gardening isn’t an easy work, but it’s interesting to do with Fabio and sometimes Janus and Nira will come to play with me. I believe that I become stronger after this training lol. As for the food, it’s the most perfect part. Before I came to Itali, I still prefer Asian cuisines more. However, every meal made by Fabio and Luisa is totally masterpiece, changing my impression to European food. Dinner is my favorite moment every day and I keep sharing photos to my family and friends to let them know how good Italian food is. Also, I like the vibe during meal time. Though I can’t understand the most part of their talk, I like to see the strong hand gestures and hear the intensive tones. Virgilio and Martina will also translate for me so that I can also join the chat. Fabio is very knowledgeable in the field of nutrients and Chinese medicine. I like to ask some questions about his healthy diet and learn a lot from him. They also give me enough time for break so that I can visit Rome. They always drive me to Cesano station so that I can easily take the train to downtown. I enjoy a great time visiting the churches and Colosseum. I would say Rome is in the top three cities in my tour list in Europe. Overall, these two weeks are very awesome and I recommend everyone to have a work exchange here!

I stayed with George and Carin for 2.5 months this winter, and I highly recommend this place to anyone reading this! About the tasks: Although there might have been fewer things to do compared to other seasons, I had plenty of opportunities to try new things I had never experienced before. I was initially worried about tasks involving chickens because I’m afraid of them, but i could be honest about my feelings, and he was very considerate of that. Beyond the tasks: We always had meals together, and after supper, we often spent time playing board games or watching movies. Sometimes George introduced me to his friends and family. He even took me to various places. While I enjoy spending time with others, I also need 'me time,' and they were understanding and respectful of that balance. About the hosts: George and Carin are so kind, funny, and always looked out for me. This was my very first Workaway experience, and they treated me more like a family member than just a 'worker.' George and Carin, I'll definitely come back to visit you again!

I had a fantastic Workaway with Karin and Alistair — they are warm, welcoming, and thoughtful hosts who genuinely care about creating a great workaway experience. I really enjoyed the work I carried out on the property - they’re excellent at finding tasks that suit each person and mixing things up, which made every day feel balanced and rewarding. I ended up staying for about two weeks, and their home was a perfect base for exploring Nelson, nearby beaches, and local hikes. I also had the pleasure of meeting other Workawayers as well as their lovely sons, Kael and Connor, and I loved spending time with Pico, their lovable dog, and getting to know their shy but sweet cat. From the start, I felt truly welcomed into the family, shared many great conversations and laughs, and was incredibly well fed — Karin’s cooking was amazing every single day (special shout-out to her homemade lemonade and her garlic and chilli oils!). And of course, Alistair’s wonderful beard and classic dad jokes added to the homely atmosphere and always made me laugh. I had such a fun and memorable Workaway experience and I’m very grateful for the time I spent with them on their beautiful property. Thank you both again for everything!

It's been a real pleasure to have Tamsen and Quinn staying with us at the ranch. They are a pleasure to talk to, to explain stuff and get (critical) questions, to work with and admire their neverending energy. I had to get them a long list to choose tasks from to satisfy them spending the day. The goats loved them and the cheese and yoghurt making became ongoing interesting experiments. Whenever you're around guys, don't hesitate, you'll have a home here!

Daisy stayed with us during a very busy time with the puppies, and she was a great support. She is reliable, very calm and quiet, even in challenging moments. She was gentle and loving with the puppies and never minded helping with cleaning. We had a really nice exchange and truly appreciated having her with us.

Jules Jaan - where do begin? She's a rare kinda gem in this weird world. Deeply inquisitive, highly intelligent, passionate, energetic to name a few aspects I admired from the get-go. Though I was dead tired from the journey, she was keen to ask if I'd the energy for the ritual Friday pizza. Though that really hit the spot every time, it's important that she was always considerate of our well being and insisted that we took the right amount of time to mend. Jules' many lives - both her own and those that she carries with her by heritage - are more impressive than the arsenal of books throughout the house. We worked hard and played hard. It was a point of pride to be apart of the gang switching from various DIY or landscaping tasks to game nights, movies, making dinner, drinks, music... The list is virtually endless and grew all the time. Furthermore, we developed a unique camaraderie amongst ourselves - ever tuning into a fine little symphony. This place is kind of a transient farm. Apart from the two and a half cats (each of whom I relentlessly bothered and had as passive work supervisors on more than one occasion), dogs would drop by every so often along with a donkey family in the next field. There really is nothing better than having the extended furry family about all the time. Jules' neighbours routinely visited and had us all over for gatherings, meals, and musical jam sessions. Not just those in the village, but in town just a few minutes' drive or half-hour walk away. It's an amazing place to explore, and I had the chance to meet fascinating people from all walks of life and interests. We also drove to different towns every so often to enjoy new localities and flavors. There was hardly a dull moment in this house full of stories, books, beautiful and funny neighbours, and - above all - life. The incredible energy flowing beckons an openness to parts of the heart and mind that don't get regularly seen by ourselves or others. Although I'm months late on sending this review, we laughed about that and many other things when we spoke over the holidays. It's a fantastic and rare thing to have developed such a connection. Although the cliche is too often used, I left a better person for having stayed in the lively Lecci villa and desire to go back as soon as possible. Till we see each other in person again, hugs and love to all the farm folk!

It was a great pleasure to meet Andrew and Laura. This was my first Workaway experience and my first time living on a farm, and it was a memorable one. There was always something to do, but my main responsibilities were taking care of the goats and chickens. I also helped with cleaning and organizing around the house. On rainy and cold days, Andrew and I spent time watercolor painting and listening to throwback music, which made those slower moments really special. It was a nice change of pace and a chance to wind down after spending time in the city. 😀

Gabriel stayed with us for two weeks, but the impact he had on our outdoor spaces and garden was immense. From the beginning, we trusted his skills and gave him the freedom to work based on our general idea. What he showed us on his last day completely exceeded our expectations. He built a beautiful path with steps on a steep hill, making the area easy and pleasant to walk, and planted fruit trees along the way with great care. The result is simply stunning. Gabriel is incredibly strong and hardworking—so much so that even our neighbors commented on his work. Communication with him was always clear, and he is a very funny, kind, and sweet person. In just two weeks, he truly became our friend and felt like part of the family, and we sincerely hope to stay in contact with him. We also shared many meaningful conversations together—about books, parenting, farm life, and his future plans. It felt good to exchange life experiences with him, as he is such an open, thoughtful, and easy person to talk to. We were genuinely sad to see him leave and highly recommend Gabriel to anyone looking for a reliable, skilled, and wonderful human being.
