Description
Hi, I'm Ricardo, I live in a food forest that I started in 2015. I'm a plant and nature lover, I teach about agroforestry and food forests in Chile, and I work designing and creating forest for my clients. I have this project where I have turned a farm land into a food forest and a wild forest, which is still growing. You'll be surprised about the tons of edible and diverse plants that grow here. I live with my 2 dogs and 2 cats. Plus, I've 2 horses wich I go to the mountain with. My mom and my dad are my neighbors. This is my family. This is my personal intiative where I’ve been regenerating a family farmland into a forest and its completely non profit.
Hola, mi nombre es Ricardo, vivo en un bosque comestible que empecé a plantar en 2015. Soy amante de las plantas y la naturaleza, me dedico a enseñar acerca de agroforestería y bosques comestibles en Chile, y trabajo diseñando y creando bosques para mis clientes. Tengo este proyecto que se llama Huelemu, donde he regenerado un campo de cultivo convencional en un bosque comestible y bosque nativo que está en desarrollo. Te sorprenderás de las cientos de plantas que crecen aquí y dan alimento.

My job is teaching about chilean forests ecology and I teach food forests courses, therefore you'll learn a lot about this. You can visit the most beautiful and pristine place in the area that is 2 hours away to the mountains, where are abundant forests and a wonderful river called Achibueno. I’ve received volunteers through my own mediums all over the world during 10 years to help me in the tasks that are involved to mantain this place. It has been always an interchange experience. Volunteers learn a lot in this place since it’s unique in Chile in the agroforestry world. It’s almost like a school that a lot of people appreciate.
Me dedico a enseñar acerca de la ecología de los bosques en Chile y doy cursos de bosques comestibles, por lo tanto aquí aprenderás un montón si te interesa este tema. Mi casa ya parece un jardín botánico.
Vivo con mis 2 perritas y 2 gatitas. Además tengo 2 caballos con los cuales me encanta ir a la cordillera. Es la familia con la que compartirán.
Pueden visitar el lugar más hermoso y prístino del sector que está a 2 horas hacia la cordillera, con abundante bosque nativo y un río hermoso que se llama Achibueno.

Help
The main tasks are:
- Pruning and maintenance in the food forest and wild forest
- Fruit harvesting
- Food processing
- Plant propagation at the nursery
- Building new infrastructure
- Cook food (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
We'll do tasks together most of the time. I love sharing my experience and knowledge about my work with the forest and plants.
Las tareas principales son:
- Podas y mantención en el bosque comestible y el bosque silvestre
- Cosecha de frutas
- Procesamiento de alimentos
- Propagación de plantas en el vivero
- Construcción de nuevas infraestructuras
- Preparar comidas (desayuno, almuerzo y cena)
La mayoría de los trabajos los hacemos en conjunto, ayudándome en mis tareas. Me encanta compartir mi experiencia y conocimiento acerca de mi oficio con el bosque y las plantas

There is public transportation to the closest town and city 15 minutes away. There is also Uber service available.
There is a tourist town 30 kilometers away called Rari with good public transportation conection.
The Achibueno Nature Sanctuary is two hours away to the mountains.
My diet is mainly vegetarian and I eat fish sometimes. I don't cook any type of meat in my house, except fish.

El santuario de la naturaleza Achibueno queda a 2 horas hacia la cordillera.
