Mana stayed with us twice, and we'd happily welcome her again. During her first stay, we worked together on building the side structures and ramps for some wooden footbridges; proper carpentry that required measuring, problem-solving, and care. Mana picked things up quickly and was great to work alongside: good communication, shared ideas, and a careful approach to the work. Her second stay was more about house-sitting and looking after our ducks and geese, and this is where her self-motivation really showed. She figured out what needed doing in the garden without being told: cleaning beds, checking on young trees, keeping on top of things. The kind of volunteer you can trust to manage on her own. Beyond the work, Mana was easy to have around: respectful of the space, easy to communicate with, and she left her apartment spotless. She's also been to a good number of volunteer and community projects, and it was interesting to hear her perspective and comparisons — the kind of conversations that make hosting worthwhile beyond just getting things done. We'd recommend her to any host looking for someone reliable, careful, and genuinely interested in hands-on outdoor work. Thanks Mana, and hope to see you again!

I had a wonderful time at the Donkey Sanctuary. The work is super and can vary from day to day. Daren is a great companion, he told me all about the Donkeys, Antigua Wildlife and lots of other things and I really enjoyed working with him. The donkeys are super sweet and calm and are also a sweet company for your working hours. The studio has everything that you need but could use some more love. Brandy and Rufus are also sweet companions around the studio. The volunteer car gets you everywhere and really let's you enjoy the beautiful islands and its limitless beaches!

Ricardo and Anthea, an Italian couple who stayed with us in Biliran, were truly a joy to host. They brought with them a free-spirited, adventurous energy that naturally uplifted everyone around them. Fun to be with and easygoing, they also carried a strong sense of awareness—always sensitive to the needs of others and ready to help, even without being asked. One of the things that stood out most was how they inspired a healthy and intentional morning routine. Their discipline and positive energy quietly encouraged others to follow along, simply by example. It was something that became part of the rhythm of our days while they were here. Ricardo and Anthea are incredibly talented photographers and videographers. They generously shared these gifts with us, capturing beautiful moments and helping tell the story of our place. Their passion is genuine—you can see it in how they dedicate time every evening to edit their work, while still making space to enjoy, connect, and have fun. The energy they carry among a group is light, joyful, and magnetic. They bring warmth into any space and leave a lasting impression on everyone they meet. They are very good with the local people and had created a good bond here. We created a camaraderie and discovered hidden places together. We also noticed that they are one of our few guests who are directly in awe when they arrived and have full appreciation of everything they see and what we can offer. We are truly grateful for their time, presence, and contributions. They are always welcome back. Much blessings and love David, Lany, Lua and the Family

I had a truly wonderful experience. I’m so grateful to Deepak and Kaushila! I stayed for about two weeks. The work varied from day to day, but mainly included cutting firewood, preparing turmeric, and picking tea. I enjoyed all the tasks very much! The work was around 3 hours a day, so I had plenty of free time. Deepak and Kaushila are very kind and friendly. They taught me a lot about tea, cooking, and Nepali culture. I’m not vegan, but all the vegan meals were always delicious! The surrounding scenery is beautiful, and the room was clean and comfortable. On my days off, I relaxed in the garden, played with the cats, and went into town. The neighbors were also very kind, and I even bought some local alcohol from them a few times, which was a fun experience. It didn’t feel like “helping” but more like sharing daily life together. I’m really glad I chose this place. This became one of the best memories of my travels. Thank you so much!!

We hosted Siili for two months. Our first impression of her was that she was very neat, calm, and somewhat quiet. However, her true strengths became clear as we spent more time together. She has many wonderful qualities, but what stood out the most was her ability to sense others’ feelings, empathize deeply, and gently support those around her. Although this was Siili’s first experience as a babysitter, our children quickly opened up to her and grew to love her soon after she arrived. Our youngest, Sera, in particular became very attached to Siili and would happily call out “Siili! Siili!” every day, always looking forward to spending time with her. There were even moments when Sera chose Siili over me, which made us laugh. 🤣 Her presence and the strong bond she built with the children were incredibly reassuring for me as a mother of two-year-old twins. Despite her young age, she is also very capable when it comes to household tasks. Her attentiveness and care in everything she did impressed us many times. The days we spent with Siili felt natural, warm, and truly happy. She became a special part of our daily life, and we are sincerely grateful that we had the chance to meet her and share this time together.

Thank you Elisabetta for this workaway! ☀️ It was my first workaway and couldn't imagine a better one! Elisabetta is a very friendly, open-minded and funny person. I really liked working outside in her beautiful garden and spending time with her after work. There were different worktasks like cutting the plants and grass, painting, cleaning and she also asked me about my opinion for changing something in the garden. This was a very nice experience for me. Thank you for having me and my dog Phoebe. :) I wish you all the best, see you Elisabetta!

The month I spent with Hui flew by. I was fortunate to meet this very kind, generous, and wise lady. While in Malaysia, I learned a lot about Chinese culture, especially the tea ceremony, which Ong invited me to and later taught me how to serve Chinese tea. I made Chinese chounsaws for Ong and her friends. She is very creative; she organizes breakfasts and various events three times a week, adding color to the slow, peaceful life in Kluang. If you want to learn how to draw a mandala or about the positive ions of stones, come and stay here. She taught me some tai chi techniques, and we went hiking in Gunung Lambak, which is five minutes from the homestay. I helped with cleaning and cooking. The work was simple and routine. I tried cooking different Chinese food and even learned some Chinese ). I was lucky to participate in the Chinese New Year, and I met her friends, who were so respectful and welcoming. Whenever possible, she organized various tours for her volunteers, such as to a farm and various parks by the lake. The host and I shared dinner, listened to music, and sometimes played pin-pong. I saw a friend in her, and I hope to return to this place again someday.

I had a great experience during my exchange at Marc and Kerrianne’s place. I felt comfortable, at ease and a part of the family. Marc is very knowledgeable with plants and has a lot of wisdom and experience to share about his work with native flora and fauna, natural building and healthy living. Kerrianne is passionate about her garden, efficient ways of leading day to day life and sharing a lot of engaging stories and experiences. They are both very respectful, caring and lead very healthy lifestyles. Jye, their son, is an awesome cook. He cooks a couple of times a week and the food is just fantastic (all the time!) The work I did was to my pace and comfort. It’s important to Marc and Kerrianne that you feel interested and comfortable in the help you are giving. They really make an effort for this. I felt that there was always space for me to be creative, make suggestions and help in ways that worked for both parties. Living and helping out in such a beautiful location - on their 80 acre property - with lots of forest, wildlife and other pet animals such as ponies, sheep and cows truly makes it easier to work on the land. Thank you Marc and Kerrianne for being so kind and considerate. I felt so welcomed, cared for and at home. I hope to be in touch and visit in the future. I wish you all the best.

My volunteer lasts 1 week and it was amazing. I was the only volunteer but I liked a lot. if you love welcoming guests, sharing information and experiences, this is the perfect match for you. Tasks focus mainly on use English and French to welcome guests, manage rooms allocation, guests assistance (on the Thakhek Loop anything can happen, so be ready!), and volunteer helping and planning. I think that, even if not required, it's important that the volunteer did the Thakhek Loop before the volunteering. This helps a lot in guests suggestion or understanding their needs. About the family, what can I say? they are AMAZING. I felt more than welcomed. they are super kind and are always ready to help. I loved this experience in the hospitality and recommend it to anyone who loves hospitality. I did the Loop, and I strongly believe that this is the most beautiful location where to stay on the first and last stop of it. I loved it.

I had the pleasure of getting to stay with Phil and Kev for a few weeks and couldn’t have asked for a better first Workaway experience. They are incredibly generous with their space and time. I helped out in the garden, did some cleaning around their B&B, and spent loads of time with Pippin, Polly, and Miel. Coming in I didn’t have any garden experience but they were so gracious with any questions I had and I quickly learned a lot! They took such good care of me while I was there, feeding me lots of great food and wine over many wonderful conversations and movies/tv shows. We became fast friends and I think anyone would be lucky to work with them! See you both again soon!!😉

It was very nice getting to know Fran, Coco, and Amber and we loved staying with them. We spent 2 weeks at Fran’s place and she was very welcoming and made us feel at home. She made it easy to understand what we had to do by giving us a detailed to-do list of the general things she wanted done. But she was very flexible with the timing of most tasks. Taking care of the pets was a priority and we loved being part of their routine. Fran’s place has a very cozy feel to it and we felt great being there throughout the whole stay. The places in the blue mountains that are closer to her place were also very beautiful, just need some planning due to the time it takes to get to them and back. We definitely recommend staying with Fran, she’s a great host. And Coco and Amber are very cute and made the stay even better.

I stayed at Pignataro for 4 weeks in January and can only recommend it! Me and 2 other Workawayers (plus one main manager and sometimes Sara) stayed in a big house, my room was also so big and beautifully decorated! The work rhythm is usually the same, feeding in the morning and then cleaning some dog pens whenever you want. Some days we went to the vet or grocery shopping. We got really spoiled with food, Italy has so tasty vegetables and oranges! Apart from that there's so much free time that you can spend with the dogs, with the Workawayers or driving to the surrounding cities. In the beginning we had some communication issues in the team which made it difficult for me to find my groove, but after that cleared up I enjoyed the very mild end of winter in Italy! FYI, you might have a dog in your bedroom (I had 2 during my stay because they had injuries that had to heal). I miss you guys and am still very impressed by the work you're doing (especially Sara, but also all the wonderful and dedicated volunteers!) If you're reading this but don't have capacity to volunteer right now, check out the Instagram of the shelter, spread the name etc, there's so many gorgeous dogs who are looking for homes!

Paula was a fantastic addition to our 2025 mountain summer camp team. She has a naturally calm demeanor that works wonders with kids. She managed to create wonderful relationships with the kids in a very short period of time. Paula is reliable, kind, and just generally great to have around in a high-energy environment like a summer camp with kids aged 6 to 12. Thanks for everything, Paula! Wish you the best on your next adventures.

I spontaneously stayed with this community for a week, as they reached out to me asking for help. I really enjoyed the work, usually I got picked up in the morning and we went to the olive fields to sort and cut parts of the trees under the spring sun. In the working group the communication was always on eye level and people regularly checked in on everyone's mood. The community is spread over a big piece of land, I was accommodated at one end of the land so socializing with the group was connected to some effort with transportation (if you don't have your own car). Typically there's a weekly bar evening which is nice to get to people more, during my stay we also went to 2 birthday get togethers in the community which was nice! I had a good time and met interesting people, also the view is really amazing! Communication about my arrival could've been better but I know that it's harder in a big community to make sure everyone gets the same information. 😊 Thank you guys!

Heather stayed with us for two weeks and helped us with lots of different projects. She spent time researching topics such as composting, organic fertilizer and pesticide and then helped us implement them in our gardens. She assisted us with some of our inventories and other maintenance projects. Heather was a courteous and down to earth guest and we enjoyed her company. During her stay we had an outdoor cinema night, went to town for lunch and did some second hand shopping. It was a good two weeks and we would recommend Heather to other hosts. Thank you Heather we wish you all the best with your future plans!! Xx

Top recommendation for Corrado! He stayed with us for over two months and was an absolute pleasure to host. Corrado is incredibly easy-going, friendly, and genuinely interesting — he's an excellent chess player, a well-educated musician, and a passionate cook who took over our kitchen with real enthusiasm and skill. He helped immensely with every kind of task we had: physically demanding work, tedious chores, or those needing patience and precision — he always stepped up and did exactly what was needed without complaint. The only 'downside' is that we've probably forgotten how to cook ourselves, since Corrado fed us so deliciously that no one else had to worry about meal prep! If you're looking for a reliable, talented, and fun volunteer, Corrado is fantastic — highly recommend!

Takeo is such a decent nice gentleman. We could not be more lucky to have him here. He was always very considerable and polite, he totally understood how the rithm of our life is and perfectly fitted into our family living. He helped us with lot of work in the garden, even a hard job included digging. He always worked very hard and we did not need to check him, He was responsible and he would not have taken a break if we had not told him. Takeo was also so nice, that he cooked Japaneese meal for us. The meal was delicious. He also brought us many nice presents. Last but not last he was totally perfect with our kids. We really did not expect that a young guy could be so good with kids, but he was absolutly perfect. We highly recommend Takeo to anyone, who needs a help with kids. Thank you, Takeo and hope we could meet agsin.
