  • Help

    Help

Focus for the spring and summer:
    - Weeding, mulching, and general upkeep of our 3-year-old food forest
    - Improving access through the property: flatten, edge, and mulch footpaths
    - Building projects: footbridges, chillout spots, fencing, playground/exercise structures

Childcare and education: families with homeschooled children of similar age to our boys are especially welcome to share the journey and collaborate if and when it makes sense to do so.

You should be able to speak English or Romanian or Portuguese.

We value a willingness to learn, adaptability, and a positive attitude. While skills in permaculture, carpentry, gardening, or teaching are beneficial, they're not required. We're excited to share knowledge and learn from our volunteers as we work together to create a thriving, sustainable community.

Comfortable apartment with a lovely view over the garden. There's an open kitchen/living room, a bathroom, a bedroom, a storage room and a separate laundry room. There is great insulation and an active ventilation system. Everything is electric and powered by solar energy. A small playground and outdoor kitchen are also at your disposal.

You can use your own kitchen and the outdoor one to cook your own meals.

For longer stays, we'd like to get into the habit of having regular meals together.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Welcome to our coastal permaculture homestead in central Portugal!

Our property features a 3-year-old food forest with swales, ponds, and veggie gardens. We're home to ducks and geese, with abundant local wildlife including birds, insects, squirrels, and rabbits.

This opportunity is ideal for young families interested in permaculture, sustainable living, and community building. We offer two independent guest apartments and space for motorhomes, all powered by renewable energy.

For those interested in longer-term engagement, there's 2 more hectares of undeveloped land. We're envisioning this as a future co-housing or intentional community project. Long-term residents can help shape this vision and potentially establish their own on-site businesses. Whether your passion is sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, education, or holistic wellness, there's room for your ideas. If you're looking to contribute to a growing eco-community and turn sustainable living dreams into reality, this could be your opportunity.

In your free time, you can enjoy:
    - Beaches less than 1km away
    - Excellent surfing spots (Nazaré, Peniche, Ericeira) nearby
    - Hiking in the surrounding mountains and woods
    - Bird watching and nature observation
    - Exploring local attractions like dinosaur footprints, natural reserves, and caves

    Nearby amenities include:
    - Train station with connections to larger cities
    - Mini supermarket, coffee shop, post office, and playgrounds within walking distance
    - Larger amenities (pharmacy, restaurants, bars) accessible by bike or car

There are bicycles available for you to use. We're also well-equipped with gardening, woodworking, and electronics tools

Join us in shaping a collaborative community focused on sustainable living and family-friendly experiences!
