    Description

We are 2 Brits (Kevin and Phill) who bought an old farmhouse in the French countryside in 2013, and have spent the last 10 years renovating it. Kevin is cabin crew for a UK airline and is often away with work. Phill is an interior designer. We have designed our house to welcome family, friends and guests in a homely and comforting way. We have tow friendly dogs Polly (4) and Pippin (18 months old) and a loving cat. We are located in a quiet village, surrounded by vineyards, hlll-top villages, rivers and market towns. Our areas is known as the French Tuscany. The gentle undulating hills are perfect for hiking and cycling.

The Tarn department in France is a relatively unknown and under-rated part of south west france. We would like to spend time introducing our Workawayers to various parts of the region, and to its gastronomic highlights. We live in the oldest wine-producing area of France, and the grapes grown here are unique. There are around 100 family-run vineyards to discover, some walking distance from the house. Our closest city, Albi, is about 20 minutes drive away and is a UNESCO world heritage site, boasting the world's largest brick-built cathedral. About a dozen medieval hilltop villages dot the landscape.

    Help

We are looking for people who would like to help with the following
    - General gardening including: mowing lawns, strimming borders, cutting hedges, weeding etc
    - Walking our dogs Polly & Pippin
    - Some minor decorating: painting walls, floors etc
    - This spring we also need help with renovating and painting our window shutters, this work involves helping to take down/putting up the shutters, sanding them, filling in any holes, undercoating and painting them.

In addition to this, we have started renovating a barn attached to the main house, and there is a large interior stone wall which we would like to repoint. It's a big job for just 2 of us, so we would like to invite anyone interested to join us to complete the project. The help is indoors, and involves removing old mortar and mud from between the stones, and replacing it with new mortar. No experience is needed, and we will demonstrate how to complete the work. We intend to work as a team, so that no-one will feel isolated or unsure about the tasks. All safety equipment will be provided, but it is advisable to have old work clothes to use. For this project ideally the work needs to be done in autumn (November) and after the coldest spell of winter, into the spring (March-April).
