Description
Hi there, thank you for stopping by and take a look on our profile. Our names are Christoph and Thea, we are excited to invite you to join us in the beautiful rural countryside of Central Portugal. We both are German and found this magical piece of land only a year ago. It was completely overgrown, the old owners left a lot of trash and the brumbles took over. Until now, we were busy freeing olive trees from spikey bushes, making pathways and making the land accessible at all. Now it's time for new projects and we would love to invite you to come stay with us.
We love finding our connection to nature, trying to preserve it as much as we can, finding ways to live more sustainable and learn every day. However, we don't want to live completely off the grid but however, it's nice to know that we could. This is a magical piece of earth and we would like to keep it that way, wild and with nature being in control. We live in a van at the moment, very basic. BUT: we do have a compost toilet and electricity, so that's already quite an achievement.
On our land, you will find the most magical cork trees, a lot of hidden corners that are still waiting to unfold their beauty. There is also a little stream, lots of olive trees, lots of newly planted fruit trees. Unfortunately there were none when we came here so the first thing of course was to plant those. We have a little garden that is meant to become a real garden eventually, but for now the little one is good to test what grows, when to plant, where to plant etc. We are surrounded by stunning nature with big rocks, lakes, forests - a portugal that can't be compared to the Algarve or Alentejo. Come to see for yourself if you haven't been here yet :)
Since we only recently started to develop this land, there is plenty of projects and tasks that we would love to tackle and that we would very much appreciate your help with. Some of which are:
// planting and watering the garden and the trees
// building little things with wood (for example a place for a bath tub, a shower area..)
// converting a Bauwagen into a tiny home
// clearing the land of brumbles and bushes
// building a little water stream for the water in winter
// building an outdoor kitchen
// setting up an irrigation system
// repairing an old Opel Frontera
So you see, plenty of tasks that require plenty of skills or at least the will to try. If you see yourself helping with any of these things or even if you have an idea for a project and need the space to try and work on that, feel free to get in touch.
As for accomodation, it would be very helpful if you came with your own, a tent, a campervan, a caravan - any kind is good. Unfortunately, we didn't have the chance to set up some sort of home for guests yet. It's on the agenda!
There is plenty of space to have your own private area for sure and of course we will prepare it and make it nice and cozy for you.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I believe in fostering a culture of mutual respect, collaboration, and open communication. We are very much looking make connections with likeminded people that value nature as much as we do, we are happy to share what we have learnt and learn new things together. From building to gardening to understanding nature to living offgrid or even learning on how to sit with yourself when there is no distractions around you. There is always something to learn here.
Help
I have several exciting projects underway and could use some helping hands! From planting trees to rejuvenating a nearby stream and constructing a traditional pizza oven, there's no shortage of opportunities to get involved in sustainable initiatives that benefit both the environment and the community.

We provide a beautiful cozy spot with lots of privacy for you to place your van or caravan or tent, in the middle of nature. Of course we will take care of vegetarian or vegan meals. As vegetarians, we tend to eat 80% vegan anyways, but we are very happy to do only vegan food of course.
What else ...
We can pick you up from either Castelo Branco or Fundao or any oher village in the area, guiding you to the land which is a bit of challenge sometimes. Additionally, we have 2 bicycles available for exploring the surrounding area.
There is beautiful sights in the area, like Monsanto which is an old village with a stunning view. Or various Praia Fluvial where you can take a dip. Also lakes and beautiful areas for walks and hikes.
And of course: a beautiful sunset over the mountains every evening.A little more information
