Jesse and Maaike stayed two weeks at our finca. They helped with gardening, especially with pruning. They worked hard and with great enthusiasm. They really are a nice couple, it's pure pleasure to have them around. Come again guys!

Im so grateful for giving me the opportunity to stay and letting me see this little paradise! This is the cutest family ever, all of them are such sweet personalities, even the animals. Liggjas the Faroese horse is so chill, and the dog and the giant rabbit will follow you around when working in the stable. Sjurdur and Joan took their time to show me around the island, and made me try fermented fish and fermented lamb from their farm. I had two amazing weeks here and wish I could stay longer. Sending my best wishes!

Sky was a good helper who was eager to learn when it was time to prun the olives. Of course, that doesn't make him a trained olive pruner, but he did his job very well. It was very pleasant to have him around. He is good in the kitchen, speaks many languages and is eager to learn and know more. Highly recommended.

Outi was a pleasure to host. Not only did she attend to a wide variety of tasks from cleaning my car to giving my carport the first washdown it has had for years, tough gardening and careful painting work, but she did all of them to a high standard and using her initiative to exceed my expectations. Further more Outi is good company and we had many interesting talks, and I also appreciated how she made considerable effort to explore and enjoy the local area and even contacted the local yacht club to go yacht racing one evening! A person that seems to make the most of everything, it truly seemed she arrived as a stranger and left as a friend. I wish Outi well in her further adventures and travels.

He is a very special soul. he adapted very quickly to our system. He helped us fix our pond , lots of work in the veggie garden, drill holes to plant new trees. He was very kind and loving for our chickens too . Great to socialise and talk with.

Leanne and Chris firstly came for one month and then stayed 2, and would stay even longer if they could.and are planning to return in authom. They are amazing combo, practical, proactive, knowledgeable, with a true sense of care like it is their home. Second month I had to go and they stayed alone in the house and I had a full trust that everything will be done the best it can. Leanne started to paint art works and she has a true inner sense of style. She is good at sawing, plants and cats love her. Chris has amazing trade skills and did plumbing, electrical work, gardening. They are both very practical and gave me lot of great ideas and solutions and they really did make a difference. They are true gift and we became friends. They are also great fun and they were truly interested to be immersed in local daily life, meeting my friends, exploring environment, food, history. I just love them.Thank you!

I stayed with Ivan and Lisa for 10 days and helped about 3 hours per day, 5 days a week. The work mainly involved gardening tasks. I learned how to use a machete and even used a chainsaw for the first time. Sometimes we worked with the chickens, sometimes in the garden, and occasionally did small tasks like painting walls. The work was varied and enjoyable, and it felt more like working together with Ivan rather than working for him. The house is about a 20-minute walk from the center of San Cristóbal. I had my own room and a shared bathroom and felt very welcomed from the beginning. Ivan and Lisa are friendly, considerate and easygoing people. The work felt very fair and I still had plenty of time to explore the city. They also shared many tips and even invited me to join their acroyoga class. Thank you, Ivan and Lisa, for opening your home and letting me be part of your life for a while! :)

My girlfriend and I spent five nights at Rubeenson's place. We helped clean a piece of land and demolish the remains of an old bathroom in order to build a new one. The working schedule was flexible, and we could decide for ourselves when we preferred to work. The place is absolutely stunning. The wildlife is rich, and there is a beautiful view of the valley, with a waterfall and a mountain nearby. Rubeenson's parents were very lovely and welcoming, and they took great care of us, making sure we had everything we needed. Rubeenson's mum cooked delicious food for us three times a day and offered us plenty of coffee and fresh juice. Rubeenson was also very available to show us the places around and to answer our questions about Sri Lankan culture. Thanks to him, we had the opportunity to participate in a Buddhist festival in a nearby village, which was a unique and precious experience. Rubeenson also complimented our appearance quite frequently. Although it was sometimes a bit surprising for us, he always remained respectful. Washing our clothes at the waterfall and waking up to the sounds of the animals was a truly wonderful and unique experience. I will always keep the memory of Rubeenson's family and their home surrounded by beautiful nature, and I hope to go back one day.

We volunteered in Villa de Leyva for about 3 weeks (teaching & website maintenance). We had an amazing time there: the town is very plaisant to leave in and the other workawayers we shared the house with were really kind. The teaching experience there was also really great: Anaïs gave lot's of room for creativity in the teaching lessons and to accommodate to students needs and willing. The Spanish lessons we received as part of the Workaway were a big PLUS that helped us so much for the beginning of our South America tour. The house accommodation was also really nice and a great sharing space with the other volunteers. Thank you for this experience!!

I stayed at Raina and Aslam’s home for one week. They have two children who also attend the School. This couple is truly lovely and will make you feel at home from the very first moment. After the School, I had the chance to teach Thumbi how to skate, which made me very happy. Ella, the neighbor from the other block, who is also an extremely adorable child, would often join us at the end of the day, and we spent beautiful moments together dancing, playing, or skating. I’m very grateful for this project and to the parents for trusting me and allowing me to share such special moments with their family. We did many activities together: working with flowers, doing hand crafts, creating mini discs with educational songs, baking a chocolate cake, and practicing yoga and meditation. After the School there is always a chai prepared by Raina, which is absolutely wonderful. She cooks incredibly well, and since she is vegetarian, she was very thoughtful in preparing delicious vegetarian food for me. It’s also a great place to learn some cooking! I will miss the kids!

I had a magnificent stay of 10 days with Robin, Finbar, Emmet and Josey! From the moment I arrived, I felt like a member of the family: the boys played with me as if they had known me for years, we laughed a lot and dived into very interesting, often controversial but always respectful discussions. Finbar was always happy to show me around the farm and explain how everything worked. I enjoyed walking through the stunning, windy and rocky landscape, hiking up small mountains with a overwhelming view over the peninsula and taking swims in the Sea. Robin also drove to beautiful places in the surrounding area whenever she could fit it into their busy daily routine. Besides, I could always meet neighbours and friends who often came around for a cup of tea and I loved the Irish music session in one of the local pubs! Long story short: it's the perfect place if you are looking for a very lively and more than welcoming family on a rugged peninsula!

It was our first experience with my friend Margaux and it couldn't have been any better ! The learning center is doing an amazing work and the kids are absolute angels! Everything is well organized, there is a planning that tells you what you will teach to the kids during the week, it is amazing to work alongside the teachers, and a great pleasure to teach the kids (for us it was English, art classes, sports) and we also gave an helping hand whenever needed, mostly for the lunch. We loved the learning center so much that we came back a second time! There is a volunteer house : the blue house, located 2 min from the school and its very nice, it allows you to spend great time with volunteers that for sure will become great friends ! Thank you so much for your work Sister Lakana, Baff, San San and all the other teachers and staff !! Mango & Lemon

I would recommend this volunteering to anyone. I truly loved the environment, the work, the nature, and the beaches of Ilha Grande! I think the only downside is the rain. Besides the humidity and the fact that it rains everywhere in the camp, the situation becomes truly unmanageable after a whole week of rain and storms. With no electricity, internet, and heavy rain in the middle of the forest, it's not easy. Anyway, at any other time of year, at least with less rain, I think it's a place with so much potential and very helpful people! Thank for everything

We were 2 and we spend such such a good time in Sweden in this fantastic family. It is so good to be able to be so close to horses with people who know them so well. Even if you don't know about life in stable (like us), you will have a passionate person who takes pleasure in explaining to you. Of course we will never forget this experience. I can only recommend you to spend time with Petra and her family if you want to learn more about horses and life in general.

Sebastian is an exuberant personality, always warm and engaging, describable as characteristically ebullient and even playful. The demands upon us during this period of our time in Uruguay were high and unusual, yet even knowing of them Sebastian was kind enough to still invite us and to work with great flexibility around our situation. He values clear, expressive communication, and we greatly appreciated that. Even when he decided not to renew our stay at the end of our month agreement, he conducted himself with decency and gave us lots of notice. Communicating with Sebastian was a good experience, and working for him came with a lot of great skills learning. The house itself is wonderful. It’s very old, and excellently captures that Montevideo architectural style; artistic tiling, high ceilings with tall doors, open windows and broad claraboyas, a winding internal structure across multiple tiers, and a great rooftop area. Sometimes, it’s full of volunteers and feels like a hostel. Other times, the volunteers quietly lead their separate lives and it feels like one of the sets of rental rooms which are often staged in these old buildings. And then, sometimes there’s no one but you there and it feels like yours. The house is set in an excellent part of town, on a relatively quiet street which gives you access to all the major attractions. Sebastian is also a candid fount of local information, which was very helpful. Of course, Sebastian has a job and responsibilities of his own, so he is often not around. We appreciated the trusting atmosphere, yet Sebastian made for good company and we were sad that we didn’t see more of him. My spouse met Leticia once and briefly, but other than that we didn’t get to know her either. As I mentioned, our situation was odd during this time. This host was gracious enough to tailor an arrangement with us, yet while my spouse fulfilled all of their hours without a problem, I was unable to get enough work from Sebastian to satisfy all of my hours in our third week and I felt embarrassed about that. Sebastian was very kind, offering to let me stop working hours altogether, but I wish that he would have granted my requests for more solo work like he gave the others. Otherwise, this was a good experience and we are grateful to this host for having us during this period of our travels.

What a place. What an experience. I feel so blessed to have found and spent time her. For nature lovers you will be in heaven. Surrounding by jungle, plants and animals. You wake up to the dawn chorus of howler monkeys and birds. Days are spent hiking or relaxing in the many beautiful spaces Ron has created. The hostel itself varies a lot in terms of volume of both guests and volunteers, though Ron is always contactable for support. You are given real freedom in terms of when and what you do here which I loved. There's no schedule, just using common sense to prioritise tasks for the day, routine cleaning and fun special projects. Ron himself is such a part of the experience, a very entertaining and generous guy with a lot of stories and great energy to be around. You will learn a lot about cooking beans and how to survive without a fridge (really useful). This place is so incredibly peaceful and special, please don't miss out on such a unique experience. ps - as a clothing optional space it worked great. Often people would get more comfortable with less and less clothing over time, but there was never any pressure. It was so nice to see and experience becoming more comfortable with naturist ways, I'm very grateful for this opportunity and miss it very much already.
