Review I highly recommend volunteering here! Andreas and Naty are excellent hosts, they made me feel right at home! The farm itself is a beautiful plot of land and the island it’s situated on is small but beautiful in it pastoral quiet. I had really comfortable, private spaces to relax in. The sleeping yurt is compact, but suuuper cozy. They provided very wholesome food and well equipped kitchen to cook meals, which feels like a luxury after traveling for so long as a long-term traveler. I felt so refreshed after my time here. The work was really engaging and alternated between physical and relaxing. In my free time, the surrounding area was nice for walks and runs, and there’s a cool town within walking distance. When they had time, we played board games, sang together, and they took us along for some really powerful and unique, cultural experiences around the island. Naty is such an open and kind person. As an experienced traveler herself, she understands how to make people feel at home. She is a phenomenal cook (we shared some excellent meals), and a talented yoga teacher among many other things. Andrés is super welcoming, thoughtful, and a great teacher. He’s super skilled and I always felt like there was so much to learn from him! He immediately made me feel quite comfortable. I really had an amazing time here. It was mentally restful for me after traveling and felt so welcome!

Thank you so so so much Ashwin and Tanisha, I am so grateful to take part for a few days in this project. I felt very welcomed, taken care off and had a wide range of experience while my 5 days of stay in their place. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, the café is beautifully design, the farm is well maintained. Since I am there towards the end of March, the weather is very hot, so we worked every morning 7am to 10am, and then rest in between, then work again from 5pm to around 6:30pm to 7pm. Jobs varies from watering the fields, farming, painting, and cooking. Most of the time we will work with the other volunteers and either Ashwin or Tanisha. Ashwin and Tanisha really made an effort to share their passion of their connection to the nature. They brought me for a hike one day, introduced me to many different birds, looked at signs of wild life in the surrounding, it was so unbelievable for me to see. We even witnessed a deer being chased by wild dogs and unfortunately being killed, it was sad but also part of the nature. What I will remember is definitely the food I had there, both of them put a lot of heart into cooking meals and they are always so tasty. It is really inspiring to see how their project is coming together, and I hope more people can enjoy the good food, accompany, and connection to the nature their. Hopefully I will be back to visit! :)

Aurora stayed with us for two weeks and quickly settled into our daily routine. She was a great help in the garden, where she did the work independently. It was a pleasure having her with us. Thank you so much for your work, Aurora. I hope we see each other again someday.

I am very grateful for the experience I was able to gain with Ivan. It took some time to adjust to this new lifestyle, which is a bit simpler. The place almost encourages you to spend less time on your smartphone and more time on your hobbies, like reading or drawing in my case. There is no one else like Ivan. You can’t really put him into any kind of box. We had many conversations in which I learned about his perspective on the world – that was very enriching for me. This man does not pay with money, but with friendships and gratitude. Thank you very much for the experience.

Simone is a person of his word and he can adapt to any situation, very flexible and cooperative. He brought 14 premium leather soccer balls for the children, and their excitement and smiles when they received them were unforgettable. He stayed at the guest house with other dedicated volunteers and actively supported the fundraising campaign to provide soccer balls for the boys and essential sanitary materials for the girls in local schools. The children’s enthusiasm, and the tangible impact he made together with other volunteers left a deep impression to the community. I strongly recommend this gentleman to come back any time. Thanks very much Simone for your support to Gomba Community.

I stayed with Katerina for 2 1/2 months, June-September. I had the opportunity to help her with gardening, landscaping, painting, and a number of odd jobs. My favorite work was helping her make progress on a bedroom addition to her house. Kat Is a good teacher and helped me learn a great deal about cob and lime plaster. She then let me undertake the project of building an earth floor for her. She expects you to apply yourself during work hours and use your own head when possible. She is also a patient communicator when you have questions, and is forgiving of mistakes as long as she knows you are doing your best. The food was lovely, and I was allowed a great deal of freedom to cook as I saw fit. As her profile says, you will be living outside the vast majority of the time. The sleeping dome, bathroom, and kitchen are all more or less open to the air (you do have enough walls to provide sufficient privacy in the dome and bathroom). I loved this, just make sure you are comfortable with the idea. The main source of suffering for me was a species of biting insect, smaller than a mosquito, that made sleeping difficult most nights. This was entirely beyond Katerina’s control, and I just happened to be their favorite person at the worst season for them. I became very fond of the dog Bella, and of the lizards around the place. I highly recommend exploring the island on your days off, there are great museums and beautiful buildings and artwork left by the ancient Greeks, the Crusaders, the Venetians, the Ottoman Turks, and others. The natural beauty of the island is also a delight. Kat gave me excellent advice for getting around, what to see, and how to save money. She allowed me to accompany her to some social functions and helped me meet people as well. Her friends are lovely. Kat is a knowledgeable lady with a lot of interesting life experience. She has a talent for sharing and listening to ideas respectfully, even in cases of strong disagreement. She was good company, and good at giving a guest space to recharge. Thank you Katerina for your generous hospitality, working for you and staying with you were a pleasure. I’ll help you any way I can if you ever visit my part of America, and I hope I can come back and see you sometime. :)

Sophie and Ignacio are such lovely and dynamic people. I spent two weeks at their little place in the middle of the forest in Chiapas, and it was a real pleasure to share this time with them. During the first week, I was there with my friend Mathilde. We helped them finish a wooden construction, did some painting and gardening, and had many interesting conversations. We slept in a very nice wooden cabin with a beautiful view of the trees. The three dogs are adorable and very cuddly. After that, I spent a week alone at their home, and it was a truly peaceful and special experience. There are also nice little trips you can do nearby, like visiting a beautiful cave or going to the mirador for stunning views. Thank you so much, Sophie and Ignacio, for sharing this wonderful time.

My friend Sophie and I stayed with Hollie and Tom for about 9 days and it was an amazing experience! They were incredibly kind hosts, very attentive and considerate. We worked in the morning as they were keen on making sure we didn't have to be in the heat for too long. Working hours were flexible and fun. We mostly helped them prepare peanut butter and sauerkraut for the local market, some deep cleaning, gardening and even cooking! We got to visit the beach and markets with them, and had the freedom to explore the area every afternoon. We mostly spent our time swimming in the pool and reading on the hammocks! Plus, we got to see countless birds and monkeys, and even a sloth, all from their backyard. As well as spending quality time with their adorable cats. It was very relaxing and a great time to really connect with nature and enjoy the beautiful environments. Evenings were also lovely as we sat outside to eat dinner together most nights where we had a lot of lovely conversations and good laughs. Hollie's meals were restaurant quality and mealtimes were very flexible. Overall we also got a good mix of privacy and quality time with Hollie and Tom, we are so grateful to have been able to stay in their lovely home.

It took me a while to write this review to decide what I wanted to say… Overall, I would give it 4 stars, which is purely based on my experience, however I cannot say that everyone will have the same experience. There are a few things that are important to note as profile is not updated: there are zero full-time staff, and often few guests, which means very few people on the Posada, there is no “restaurant” (you are the restaurant lol), wifi was sometimes problematic (which I only cared about because I teach classes online), and you will work much more than the 25 hours a week, so much so that I felt exploited by the end. I was lucky to cross paths with 2 other volunteers, so I always had a friend which really made my experience what it was. But it was jarring to get there and realize that there were no other workers, which also means that as volunteers, you are the gardener, the chef, the maid and everything in between. This would have been okay, as I do enjoy doing this kind of work, but it is also important to know that days off are essentially nonexistent, hours are long and communication was not always easy, you will clean all of his dishes and never get a thank you, and when guests are there you will be working, cleaning, cooking, etc. the entire day, which to me felt more stressful than a Workaway experience should be… HOWEVER, the posada is gorgeous, there are horses and so many animals and a beautiful landscape that I enjoyed being a part of. There was a small mountain right next to the posada where I often watched sunset and took much needed breaks. Diego is generous with taking volunteers on excursions and showing us different parts of Uruguay, and also loves to teach random and fun skills. I learned a lot about many different things, and looking back I have no regrets, but I do have lots of stories. I say this all because I think it’s necessary for any future volunteers to know exactly what they are signing up for. There is much more to say, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

I stayed with Marie and Oisin (and of course Pricess Lily and Luka) for 2 weeks during spring preparations. They are lovely and very welcoming people, communication was clear before and during my stay. I worked mostly in the garden, preparing the permaculture beds for their coming purpose. But Marie took care that my duties were varied enough to not get boring. I hope that some frogs will move into the wellness-temple I helped to build:) On the extension of the chickenˋs palace I learned to work with mortar. Thanks for the fantastic time, the delicious meals (hope to keep some ideas for my life) and a special thanks to Luka who was very patient with my lack of knowledge of properly playing with him. He stole my heart a bit.

This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn’t have asked for better! Fran, Agos and little Feli are a wonderful family who welcomed me wholeheartedly. Within hours it felt like I had known them for years! My days consisted of slow mornings, either exploring by myself or with the family, going on local excursions and to meet their friends, which was greatly appreciated and really added to the experience. The afternoons were spent with Feli (baking, painting, playing at the beach) while Fran and Agos worked. They were always close by if needed. Their apartment is so close to the sea, with lots of little beaches. The area is easy to navigate with public transport and lots of exploration is possible. The workawayer will have a private bedroom and bathroom. If you want to make new friends for life, I absolutely recommend this Workaway exchange 💛

Maria was an awesome host and she enjoys opening her house and property to workaway volunteers. She's very openminded and interested in the people working at her ranch. The property is in a very beautiful location and there is lots of hiking and outdoor adventure to be experienced in the area. I was there in the winter and there was a bit of rain but that meant that I did spend some time indoors and she lined me out on a sewing project and taught me how to sew! It was an awesome experience there!

I stayed with Ana and her family in September and October 2025, and it was my first Workaway experience – I couldn’t have asked for a better one. They made me feel welcome and part of the family from the beginning. Even though I had to leave earlier than planned, I had a really meaningful and positive experience. The family is kind and dynamic, and I loved joining their activities like game nights, movie nights, and spending days together. Lex is smart, energetic and curious, and Lara is very sweet and lovely – I truly enjoyed spending time with both of them. Overall, it was a beautiful and memorable experience that I would recommend.

Words can't describe the heart and soul Mateo and Margeax have put into this incredible space. Each person that walks through the door takes an audible deep breath, intuitively sensing they're welcomed and at home. The space itself is a tranquil haven, with gardens growing all sorts of goodies--eggplant, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes-- used in almost every delicious meal. There are hammocks, inside/outside common spaces, and 3 dogs that either always want to play or chill/snuggle in the sun with you. The beach is close by and most go for a swim at least once a day. This place attracts some of the best people-- whether that be guests, volunteers, visitors for Tuesday night acro-yoga, or neighbors. The work was very straightforward and clearly communicated--involving cleaning the kitchen, bathrooms, common spaces, and occasionally helping prepare meals, gardening, or other fun projects. Consider yourself lucky if you get the opportunity to visit Chapa and Jardín de Epicuro. Margeax and Mateo are truly some of the kindest, warmest, most welcoming humans I have met. I can't thank you enough for opening your lives and hearts to everyone that enters your home <3

Tom adapted very easy to the farm, to the animals. 10 days passed very comfortably with him . He followed the rules, was respectful and hard worker. He is very helpful, calm, punctual and responsible person. He worked hard with moving the olive branches, moving the woods and the manure and he walked with the dogs every work day. We had many interesting conversations over meals and we enjoyed a lot. Thank you for everything and you are always welcome to the farm.
