Eddy is the rare volunteer who truly became part of the family. No matter the work or the weather, he had a smile on his face every day, maybe every other minute. He worked to task, putting in the hours needed to get the job done and taking pride in his work even when the hosts' own attitudes about it weren't as good as his was! Almost every volunteer these days writes about wanting to "get their hands dirty" and whatnot (thanks, chatGPT), waxes poetic about living in the moment... but Eddy truly does, he came here to be here and accepted things as they are, as opposed to bringing a rigid preconceived notion. And because of that, he improved things here. He went with the flow, so he changed the flow for the better. He will land on his feet because he accepts the frustrations of life as part of the process... I could learn a lot from him. We laughed and thought through things together every day, missed a bunch of three pointers, got a lot done, just had a great time. Truly hope he passes through again.

Nico was a ray of light and positivity during his whole stay here. He got along great with the other volunteers, often showing them the ropes of the various projects we had going. We shared a ton of laughs, good conversations, and were lucky to get to hear his piano playing daily. He's a person animated by the spirit of curiosity and imagination who would be a great asset to any project. And we're lucky he's from Austin so we can drag him out here again some time!

Amazing experience! The captain David is a wondeful human being, the amount of work he does to keep this project alive is unbelievable. it is wonderful to see that he crated such a great safe haven in this turmoiled world. This boat is a great place accomodating for all, My time there was excellent, found myself laughing outloud almost allday everyday, after months of much stress, I reccomend anyone that can chip in to this project that they bring forth whatever they can. All the best to the crew and the captain. i cant wait to come back.

Unsere 10 Tage bei Daniel waren eine tolle Erfahrung mitten in einer kleinen Oase. Man kann in den hübschen Zimmern und dem herrlichen Garten seine Seele baumeln lassen und die Arbeit war nie länger als 5 Stunden und von der Zeit her frei einteilbar. Wir haben die Fenster und Türen im oberen Stockwerk repariert und eingestellt und durften in unserer Freizeit auch den Schwimmteich nutzen. Nur die Sandbäder konnten wir nicht ausprobieren, weil wir in der Regenzeit dort waren und sie zu nass waren. Vielen Dank, Daniel! Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen!

I had a wonderful week with Petar, Marlene, and the dogs. We worked outdoors, had great conversations, and wonderful moments around the fire in the evenings! They provided me with fresh food, and I learned a lot from them! Thank you for the great time. :)

Oh to put words to this woman. Kristie is such a warm, self contained, helpful,open hearted, enthusiastic, creative and incredibly fun woman. I loved having her here and we were so delighted she returned to us for the last few weeks of her travels. Kristie is brimming with 'can do'. If you think you can't or you don't know how, here is woman to say yes and help you figure it out. She loves a project and even chose one that l thought was too ambitious for her length of stay and as she would say herself, she 'cruuuuushed it'!😅 I loved everything about having her stay, her independence and how well she takes care of her own needs, how genuine her interest in helping is, how funny and smart she is, available for deep chats and equally up for just laughing at herself too. I hope that you will come back some day friend. You are one in a million and we miss you. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Emilie and Freddy are an incredible couple. They are very reliable and always got things done whenever a task was asked of them. I really appreciated how responsible and proactive they were. We also had the chance to surf together many times, which was great. They are both very good surfers and very independent, which made everything easy and smooth. On top of that, they are super easy-going, friendly, and a pleasure to have around the house. They brought a really positive energy and were always helpful. I highly recommend Emilie and Freddy to any host—they are a wonderful couple and it was a pleasure having them here.

Although it was our first time meeting Anayatzin, she felt like a member of our family. She respected our rules and was very successful at home, not only in her daily tasks but also in spending quality time with the children. You can confidently welcome Anayatzin into your home.

Angus and Oliver are both amazing people—super funny, friendly, and easy to get along with. From the moment they arrived, they fit perfectly into the house and quickly became part of the team. I gave them tasks and they handled everything independently and responsibly, which I really appreciated. They were always positive, motivated, and happy to help. Outside of work, we had a great time together as well—surfing, dancing, and sharing good moments. They brought a really good energy to the place and were very easy and enjoyable to live with. It was honestly sad to see them leave, but así es la vida :) I’m really grateful they came and helped here, and I would happily host them again anytime. Highly recommended 🏄‍♀️😇🏄‍♀️

The most magical place ever. I was a volunteer there and planned to stay for two weeks, but ended up staying for five weeks, at it was truly one of the best experiences ever. I not only gained a lot of true friends from all over the world, but also was part of a family where we actually spent a lot of time together while exploring the island. I could not recommend it enough - you just really have to experience this wonderful vegan hotel/restaurant/volunteer home on your own!

It was truly an honor to have Isa as a volunteer with us. She did an absolutely wonderful job and brought so much positive energy to our team. Isa is incredibly fun, kind, responsible, and always willing to help with a great attitude. She connected beautifully with everyone, especially the students, and made every activity more enjoyable and meaningful. Her enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication made a real difference during her time here. She is also very respectful, hardworking, and easy to work with, which made the whole experience even better. We are very grateful for everything she contributed and for the joy she brought to our community. We will definitely miss her a lot and she will always be welcome here. We wish her all the best in her future adventures!

It was truly wonderful having you stay with us through Workaway. Even though you are a doctor by profession, your kindness, friendly nature, and humble personality made you feel like a part of our family in just five days. The time passed so quickly, and we really wished you could have stayed longer. We loved sharing our cultures, talking about our countries, and learning from each other. Your enthusiasm for work, great communication skills, and positive energy made everything so enjoyable. We already miss you a lot and hope that if you ever visit again, you will definitely come to see us.

Manuel stayed with us during his incredible journey around the world by bicycle, and we are very grateful for the time we shared with him. He helped us a lot with the agricultural work at the farm and was always serious, reliable and hardworking. Manuel works very well and you can trust him completely with any task. Beyond his help, he brought a wonderful energy to the house. He is always smiling, funny, and very pleasant to be around. We also shared some great moments together, especially when he cooked delicious fresh pasta for everyone. Manuel is a truly kind and positive person, and it was a real pleasure to host him. Our door will always be open for him, and we would be very happy to welcome him again one day — maybe next time when he returns with his sister on their cycling adventure. Considering that this was my first experience with Workaway, everything was new and extremely interesting to me. Ciaran and Neuza are two people capable of charming and inspiring you very easily and very quickly. From the very first moment of staying with them, I felt welcome, comfortable, and relaxed. I could say so many things, but everything I want to express cannot truly be contained in words alone. Neuza is sensitive, yet outwardly strong, fair, fiery, spirited, and persistent. She is an incredibly good cook, every bite of her food, for me as a big food lover, was divine. Every meal she prepared was made with love, often while she softly sang wonderful songs by the great masters of bossa nova. Working with her was liberating, sometimes demanding, but always rewarding. Working in the garden and being in contact with the earth suited me very well. Neuza and Ciaran never sit while you work; they are always in motion and very often you work together. It is inspiring to see how much enthusiasm and charisma radiates from them while they do anything, whether it is gardening, restoring a piece of furniture, cooking, or playing Rummikub. Ciaran is sunshine in the form of a human being—cheerful, playful, full of empathy and joy. If you hear someone whistling and humming outside, it is almost certainly him. Shazam was working constantly, because Ciaran has first-class taste in music. For me, as a musician, the connection we created meant a lot. We even had a small jam session where we performed a famous bossa nova standard on the staircase of their beautiful home. If you are a tea lover, you will enjoy spending time with him, because tea is drunk at any time of the day, and he never forgets to offer you a cup. If you enjoy electronic music, ask Ciaran to play you one special track, you will be as amazed as I was. The nature surrounding their home is a dream for anyone who loves the green of forests and the blue of the ocean. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, N&C !

Louise has created a warm and welcoming community here. It's a very gentle and healing space, with a lovely lake across the road, and a well cared for garden space in the back. Surrounded by nature and compassion. Louise is very mindful of the needs of her volunteers, and communication was open and understanding. Staying here was an absolute pleasure. It's a beautiful space, with kind people, and the whole of my stay was incredible. Thank you for the cultivation of such a mindful community and place!

Hola Paolo! Lo primero, te pido disculpas por tardar tanto en escribir esta review. Lo segundo es que recuerdo (y siempre recordaré) el tiempo que pasé contigo y en tu proyecto de manera especial. Vivimos muchas cosas en poco tiempo y no podría describirlo todo en este comentario, por eso me voy a limitar a escribir sobre tí y tu proyecto; pero para que la gente se haga una idea de lo bonito que fue, estoy escribiendo esto con verdadera emoción. Paolo es una persona muy respetuosa, abierta y empática. Desde el principio, se preocupa por que tengas todo lo que necesitas para estar cómodo. Se interesa por tu estado de ánimo y actúa en consecuencia para hacer que te sientas bien. Te abre las puertas de su casa y te hace sentir como si estuvieras en la tuya, te ayuda a descubrir lo mejor de la zona, te presenta a sus amigos y te permite conectar con personas estupendas. Es muy inteligente y se puede aprender mucho de él, de su proyecto y de la gente que le rodea. El proyecto es genial, combina ciencia, sostenibilidad, naturaleza, construcción, comunidad... Y, además, se interesa en que explores y desarrolles aquello que más te interesa, ya sea un aspecto o varios. Y, ahora, te hablo desde el corazón.. Muchas gracias por abrirme las puertas de tu casa, por hacerme parte de tu proyecto y facilitar que viviera la experiencia tan maravillosa que viví. Eres una persona genial, amigo.
