Description
Hi , - my wife and I have a beautiful old house in Galicia which we have been restoring for the last couple of years ,both the house and the garden. We have a huge garden and we grow lots of different organic produce, we also keep chickens .We are located between the mountains and the sea and are surrounded by beautiful nature. We have lots of different beaches close to us ,one of them being the world heritage site of Playa de catedrales (cathedral beach),We are also situated very close to The Camiño de Santiago. There are lots of walking trails ,both inland and coastal and the beaches are beautifully natural.Galicia is also famous for its food and wines for food lovers,we are on the edge of a small village so you're not to far from ,small supermarket, bakers, fresh fish shop, bank, doctors etc.Surfing is very popular on one of the nearby beaches and there are several surf schools.
Types of help and learning opportunities
Language practiceTeachingGardeningDIY and building projectsHelp around the houseGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
Several languages are spoken in our house,My wife is Brazilian ,I am English from Irish parents and we used to live in London .My wife speaks Portuguese,Spanish and English,my son speaks Portuguese,Spanish,English,French and I speak English and am learning Spanish,so it is a multi- lingual house and we are all well travelled, we like to think of ourselves as an easy-going family who are outgoing, freindly and have varied interests. My wife has lots of agricultural knowledge to pass on,as you can see from the above information we have a massive garden and we plant and grow lots of different things and the idea is to have an organic semi-self sustained way of life-producing most of our food from our garden, using the water from our well ,eggs from our chickens, etc and pass on some of these important life skills to people. We also make jams, chutneys and pickles from the excess fruit in the garden which my wife would be willing to teach to people.
