My time at Two Rocks was EPIC. This is the kind of place that someone goes to truly dive into farm culture. Emily & Erik are incredible and hospitable people... they open their home to folks that want to learn and are willing to put the phone down long enough to get their hands dirty. I have to say - this will be an annual stop for me as long as I can travel... I made friends on this trip that I hope to have always. In a short time I saw & assisted with (so many) baby lambs born, learned a ton about wellness and the health of livestock, how to manage daily feeding schedules, aspects of the farm like those amazing dogs!!, and how to kick back and have a good time after a hard day of lambing. It's unreal what can be done in one day at TRR. I cannot put into words how grateful I am to have crossed paths with Emily, Erik, Caity, Liz, Krista, Rudy, and Judy. Promise- I'll be back by Thanksgiving!! To anyone looking for an experience with amazing people ... I highly recommend this Workaway opportunity. Feel free to reach out anytime for more info. -Adrianne

I personally had a wonderful stay at this place, a self-sustainable farm that works with permaculture principles and deep respect for nature. Everything here is based on working with what mother nature provides, and that way of thinking is really felt throughout the place. The project is run by Malvika and her son. From the moment you walk in they create a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Even without prior experience, the hosts provide work that allows you to learn by doing, in a calm and supportive way. And they are open to listen to anything you need or want to share After work, delicious and nourishing meals are prepared, which truly feel like part of the experience. During your stay, you really feel like part of the family, which creates a sense of belonging and warmth that is rare. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a peaceful stay close to nature, while contributing to a meaningful and respectful project.

I spent a great 3 weeks here. It was truly an authentic experience and a great insight into local ethnic life in the village. Cong, Tien, Van Tam and other family members were so welcoming and nice. Lots of happy water too!! Tien made the most incredible food every day. The work was mainly moving sand from the river to help maintain the path as well as helping out in the restaurant. No strict instructions so you must work on your own accord. Got the chance to do the loop with Tien and it was amazing. Only thing to improve is it would have been nice to have access to a bicycle to further explore the area in free time. Thanks for everything!!!

I'd recommend staying at Kieran's place. I liked working in the middle of nature, the work is physical but doable and you work for around 2 hours per day i'd say. I especially liked planting new trees and picking berries to make jam. He's a really creative person with lots of hobbies and he's really patient. The town is really peaceful and has a lovely kiosk with amazing food and a beach I fell in love with! I really liked going to his second property as well (three hours south of Sydney) and petting and feeding the cangaroos in front of his house was one of the highlights for sure!

It was an absolute delight to stay with Leah! She was clear in her instructions, what she expected and the (minimal) rules she has for the house. The work is simple and she welcomes anyone who shows initiative or wants to talk. If you want to explore a small town in the Southlands, have a good conversation, learn about the region (and beyond), be invited to join a bible study or exercise class, or simply enjoy a homecooked meal then Leah is the one for you.

Our stay with Andrés and Alexa was amazing! The accommodation was really cosy and Alexa and Andrés are super nice and outgoing and included us into their every day life. We could join Alexa for her sport classes and go with Andrés on a weekend trip into the mountains in his 4x4, which was both really fun! We will also really miss the food they prepared for us, it was so delicious! One of the best broccoli we ate so far. We were also invited to eat with them in the home of Andrés parents. Here we met the rest of the big family which was such a nice experience. Thanks again! In the mornings we mostly had time for ourselves and started our work at noon. During our stay the main job was to finish building the shower, which was a really fun task in our eyes. We worked with silicone, screws, paint, cement and more, so we could experience different materials and how to work with them, with was very fun. We would 100% recommend the stay and thanks again for the amazing experience!

the experience to Thilina , at " Bulbul house" it was the most extiting and wild that I did. the place is so natural, the house simple and essencial. It was fantastic to stay with a group with other international workawayers , very funny mood. Thilina is an idealist man . He , his wife and his friend was very friendly. the project it' s so interesting I liked a lot to build a stone wall , for the house in the forest , hurd and extiting too. The wild track inside the river on the waterfall it was fantastic . I loved a lot the silence , the comunity meals and talk togheter the evening, under a fantastic blu sky. It was so short period but very memorable It was a little hurd for the trasport , but that too resolved at the end. Beautifull experiences in a real natural place , with nice peolpe too. I suggest to try Maria Concetta ( italy) End of Jenuary 2026

We stayed at Steve’s place in Whanganui for a week and had such a great time. He was very welcoming and easygoing from the start and made us feel completely at home. He took us around Whanganui and showed us everything (The best tour guide). He shared his food with us, we had lots of good chats, and we loved playing darts together. While he was away on a trip, we looked after his house and pets, and did some gardening. We’re really grateful he trusted us with his home and animals.

We had the most wonderful time at Tauhra Center. From the moment we arrived, everyone was so kind and welcoming. We stayed for 10 days and honestly wished it had been longer. Every day felt special. The food was absolutely amazing. A big thank you to Nicole, Julz, Ella and Lorena in the kitchen for all the love and good vibes, to Reachel in housekeeping, and to Adele in the garden. And of course, Steve, Cathrine, Gilma and Tania. Thank you so much for having us. We truly hope we’ll be back one day. So grateful for this time and for all the amazing people we met there

I stayed one week at Jafar Hostel, developing a website and teaching English to her niece. Jafar and her family (wife, parents, children, and niece) are ideal hosts. They were always looking after me. They fed me, although they were only supposed to provide accommodation and breakfast, and they treated me like a member of their family. During my stay, I was able to visit Borobudur, Prambanan, and Mount Merapi, vistit the field work, erleben traditionsl java live.I would always come back.

We stayed about fifty days here. This place is simply heavenly and no one wants to leave it. We had planned to stay two weeks and we stayed almost two months. Dani is extremely kind, the cooks too as well as Bo, Chan and Wine who take care of the cleaning and maintenance that you will have to meet. The food is delicious, you will sleep in a dormitory with the other volunteers which creates a nice team cohesion. The exchange with customers is really present given the lack of wifi which creates real memories. Go ahead with your eyes closed you won't regret it. I will never forget the moments spent here. Part of my heart will always be in Koh Rong now ❤️ thank you for everything Dani, we love you so much

Pana was such a welcoming presence here 🌿 He has such a soft, gentle nature and brought a really calming presence into the space. He shared his Yoga practice in such a grounded and heartfelt way. His classes felt inclusive, nourishing, and open to everyone, no matter their level. Beyond that, he was always ready to help. Stepping in last minute, he would quietly and willingly offer his energy. No hesitation, no drama, just genuine care. Pana has a very kind heart and naturally makes people feel welcome. He blended so easily into the community and brought such lovely, positive energy into the space. The kind of volunteer that makes everything feel lighter and more connected. We’re really grateful for his time here, and he’ll always be part of the family 💛
