I was there Nov-Dec 2025, it was an incredibly laid back experience. Las Tunas itself is very quiet, Ayampe is walkable by beach and has a little more socializing, Montanita is accessible by bus super easily. Puerto Lopez is very easy to get to and from for most things. The work expectation was (4) 6-hour shifts, leaving three days off.Typical hostel duties while on shift: cleaning bathrooms, cleaning kitchen, sweeping, working at reception. The work is quite simple and straightforward.The volunteers room was a bit tight with four people plus backpacks and things, but there are places to find your peace around the hostel and Las Tunas area. During this time of year it was pretty slow booking wise, there was a lot of down time. Lots of time to slow down, sit with the beautiful beach, chill with other volunteers/guests, meet people in Ayampe. The weather was pretty cloudy most days, with Sun coming a few times weekly. Little bits of rain and mist move through regularly, the climate stayed pretty humid most of time I was there. Use of the surf boards was a huge plus, you can take them whenever you want FORREAL. Just keep in mind the conditions aren't always supportive of easy riding ;) Nidia, the host, is pretty hands off; the volunteer manager, Diego, is the main point of contact. Although Nidia is super accessible and kind if you need anything. Diego rules, he was clear and open when talking about responsibilities and laid back and helpful when talking about the area and life. The experience I needed there, the peaceful time helped to get me clear on a lot :) I would forsure recommend.

Angie went above and beyond to make us feel like family here. It was so lovely to be surrounded by lovely people and amazing animals. The work was enjoyable and the hours were more than reasonable. Everyday we were provided with fresh food from Chef Ñaño 😋 We found it easy to adjust into their lifestyle and routine and enjoyed living peacefully and more slowly than usual. Angie was very thoughtful and caring, making sure we were comfortable and even helping us to arrange a doctor's appointment when we needed it. Our stay here was unforgettable. A 10/10 experience and we feel very lucky to have met everybody. Thank you! ♥️

Staying at the farm of Joelle and Phil was very nice. It was my first workaway experience and I stayed there for almost 3 weeks. I enjoyed feeding the animals a lot :) Thank you both for everything, including very delicious meals, and teaching me how to crochet. Joelle also took me to a painting class with her and her friends, which was very nice. Also, whenever I went on a trip during my days off, and also when I arrived and left, Joelle and Phil drove me to the train station, which was very kind of them :) I felt at home and I will miss the farm, the alpacas, Badboy, the cats and of course you, Joelle and Phil. I hope we can see each other again some day :) Lída

Having Max and Leandra was awesome. My farm is deep in the Amazon jungle of Peru. They were totally at home. I'm super glad they chose my place. They took great care of everything while I went traveling. Our connection was so good. Their work was top notch. My home is their home. I hope they return someday

Hiro is a calm, polite, respectful young man whose company we enjoyed. He knows to communicate well and his English language skills have improved. Hiro observed household rules very well and helped where he could. He lend a hand in the garden, moving furniture and clean windows. Hiro has a healthy appetite and happy to eat anything. Hiro is very interested to learn about everyone and so do we. It was a very enriching time. Thank you. Enjoy travelling the world. Looking forward getting updates.

Amy was a joy to have on the site. Upbeat and practical, she gets stuck in even when it's not the most glamorous of tasks. She is reliable and honest, always making sure the work got done. She has a deep connection with the land and nature, that shines through in any interactions you have. It was lovely to have around, bringing her energy to the rest of the team and to guests on site. She is moreover a kind and thoughtful human with a lot to offer the world.

The workaway experience was absolutely amazing... I stayed for almost 6 weeks with Guiliana and Chris and it feels like I've a second home at the other side of the world. They are heartwarming people and take good care of the workawayers. It did't take a long time to feel like home. The nature is beautiful and very peacefull. I needed a place where I could rest my mind and be peacefull in nature and have some good conversations with people from other cultures and countries. I found my peace and learned a lot from the different people who were coming over. I love the place and miss it already... I helpend Giuliana most of the time with gardering and helping around the house. They don't have animals anymore but you will see a lot wild animals if you go for beautiful walks. And last but not least... the food was amazing and I learned a lot about cooking skills during helping with preparing meals. If you want to be in a peacefull, happy and beautiful place then come to Giuliana and Chris. They will really care for you and what you give is what you get back ;)

I am so grateful for this wonderful volunteering experience with Tree. I really enjoyed every single moments of my stay, Tree is such an enthusiast and generous host, he was sharing so much with us. So kind and a beautiful soul, very inspiring ! The ecodome is a really nice place to stay, we shared great moments with all the group, cooking, talking and playing cards together. We were 5 volunteers at the same time, it was really nice and Tree's dad was also there and he was so kind to everyone. The project Tree has developed is huge, inspiring and very motivating ! The waterfalls are beautiful and it is really satisfying to see the improvment after working on them. We also visited an impressive cave that Tree showed us. I would have love to have the time to stay longer, 5 days were too short... I definitly recommend everyone to come and help with this inspiring project, you are sure to be warmly welcomed ! Thanks again Tree for everything, I will remember for a long time and hope to come back one day 😊

Steven's family was absolutely lovely! We stayed in our own room with own bathroom in their beautiful home and really got to know the whole family. Unfortunately Steven does not live at home so we wish we got to spend more time with him. There were always lots of chores and tasks to be done around the home that keep you busy. July was a ball of energy and excited to learn any English we could teach her! The family invited us out on every occasion they left the house and we were welcomed for every traditional Ecuadorian meal they had. The kitchen was always open to us to use as well. One of us was pretty sick with altitude sickness the whole time and Steven's sister who is a doctor was very accommodating and caring during this rough patch. Overall you will feel like a part of the family as they were all so welcoming to us!!

I spent nearly 3 weeks there and it was great :) Living with the other volunteers and living in the countryside was the best part of it. I recommend this workaway !

Phoebe stayed with us for a week in deep winter. With her open, friendly and positive attitude she fit right into our household. There was an instant connection. For the short time we made the most of our time. Phoebe is a fantastic cook, her garlic soup will be a staple in our house from now on. She organized, cleaned and knew what to do. It really was a joy having her with us. We will miss the game nights with her and her bubbly personality.

We enjoyed meeting and being with Rosie. She's very personable, eager to help in the house and on the land, flexible, maintains a "REAL" mood of cheer and friendliness, and a lovely being. Gift yourself with her presence if you feel the fit.

it was amazing experience in amazing forest with amazing people . Ali it's not a simple person, it's your teacher, your father, your brother, your new friend. generosity , passion ,positivity,sincerity, this little description of Ali character. I stayed 8 days with Sumer and his wonderful fanily. A great time, learning the ways of life in the desert and enjoying rhe beautiful landscape. I helped with farming, the care of the camels, and some advice with online matters. it was also lovely to speak to the kids who come here to learn English and computing skills. Sumer and his family were so accommodating, welcoming me as one of their own, and even when I was unwell they looked after me. could not have asked for more.

Anouk and Quentin stayed with us for two weeks and it was a great experience! They were so sweet, motivated and very passionate about learning about farming and off grid living. They're also good with kids and played a lot with our daughter. They were very motivated and did lots of work on the farm - clearing land, planting veggies, and they made us wonderful food which we really appreciated! Anouk also painted us a beautiful mural :D They're a lovely couple, very sweet, peaceful people and we were very grateful for all their help :)

Nana and Jelena stayed with us for a week and we had an amazing time with them! They brought so much laughter and good vibes and were very playful with our daughter. They were hard workers and did lots of gardening, clearing and even painted us a beautiful mural! They both are very lovely, bright young women with hearts of gold :)

Daniel was an amazing volunteer, flexible, communicative, helpful and always with the best possible attitude. We shared weeks together and got to know him personally and professionally, he is great with animals and our dog fell in love with him and his energy!

Ute ist eine wundervolle Gastgeberin und ein sehr herzlicher Mensch. Man merkt sofort, wie viel Liebe sie in ihr Zuhause steckt. Ihr Garten ist wunderschön gepflegt und lädt zum Entspannen ein. Besonders beeindruckend ist ihre Leidenschaft fürs Malen, die dem Aufenthalt eine ganz besondere, kreative Atmosphäre verleiht. Außerdem hat Ute mir sehr geholfen, mein Deutsch zu verbessern, wofür ich ihr besonders dankbar bin. Ich habe mich bei ihr vom ersten Moment an sehr willkommen gefühlt und kann sie als Gastgeberin nur wärmstens empfehlen!

Claire stayed with us for two weeks and we had a wonderful time with her! She is very sweet, responsible, intelligent, mature for her age and motivated. We really have only good things to say about her! She was so helpful and flexible and very nice to our little daughter as well. She helped us with lots of different tasks in the garden, clearing land, making compost, planting seeds and even painting the house. Thank you so much for your help! :)

We had a great experience with Tommaso as a volunteer. From the day that he joined us, he did a great job integrating himself with the team. He was a team player who was willing to step in where need be, and even made some delicious Italian food for us a few times. We would welcome Tommaso back as a volunteer anytime.
