Description
I am a Brit living in the Netherlands, a recently-retired freelance trainer, advisor and coach. I have worked and lived abroad - in France, Spain, Chile, China, Tanzania, Poland - and travelled widely. I have two adult children (31 and 26) and a partner. He is still working. I am looking for a way to spend the winter of 2026 meaningfully.
I am an adventurer at heart, and hiked a pilgrim’s path from Florence to Rome (via Assisi) in the spring of 2025. I love trekking in the mountains, reading, playing padel, yoga, writing and playing my ukelele, which I have just started. I am flexible, curious and independent.
By the way, I worked as a workawayer on an eco farm in Costa Rica in 2022 but had a couples profile which has now expired. This was our review:
“Wow, what a wonderful experience to have these two interesting women working with me on the farm! We pruned citrus and banana trees, weeded gardens, fixed fences and transplanted seedlings. The work was thoroughly and cheerfully done. I felt very supported. Both Rosie and Catherine are very welcome back.”

I started off as an English teacher so can help there. I speak reasonable French (which I studied in the 1980s) and Spanish (I lived in Chile for four years and in Vigo, Spain, for one) and would like to improve even more.

I enjoy trekking, yoga, reading, gardening, writing, playing padel, travelling with my camper, called Ruth after my aunt who left me a surprise inheritance.
I have travelled extensively. In the 1980s I taught English at a school
In Chile for four years. Lots more to tell: sabbatical in Tanzania, projects in China and Poland..
In 2025 I hiked alone from
Florence to Assisi to Rome on a pilgrims’ path. I drove to southern Spain to follow a 200-hour yoga teacher training. I also hiked and biked with a friend and my partner in the Alps and Slovenia.
