Viviane était notre première workawayeuse et on a adoré l'expérience. Douce, à l'écoute, discrète dans son aide avec les petites choses du quotidien, elle a été d'un grand soutien avec les enfants et la maison. Une très belle rencontre.

Fabienne and Tina joined in the chaos round here over Christmas really well. They helped wrap presents, get food sorted and eat all the left over food. Oh and they also helped in the gardens as well, doing a great job of the things I got them to do. They were so lovely to have here and Dottie enjoyed the time they spent with here (except for the chocolate lol). Hope you enjoy the rest of your travels.

Well what can I say about Gene. She is one hard working, strong shella. She was up to give anything a go. I arranged for her to do a days tailing and she enjoyed it so much she went back the next day. Her drinking skills improved over the two days as lol. She was looking for things to do, happy and would ask questions if she didn't understand anything. I loved having her here. We caught up the day after Christmas to go to Wanaka. Hope you are enjoying picking Cherries and hope to see you in the future.

Kristy fitted in to my mad house like a glove. She looked after Dottie and took her for walks. She was a great help in the gardens, both the flower garden and the vegetable gardens. She was tidy round the house and so easy to talk to. Thanks for all your help and enjoy the rest of your travels.

I stayed with Iris and her amazing family for a week, and it was a wonderful experience. They are a unique family, and it was a great opportunity for me to experience their world. They make you feel at home through the time you spend together—playing games, watching movies, etc. The work itself also gave me new experiences, especially working with different machines. If you have the chance to stay there, don’t forget to ask about all the mind-blowing stories about Kenny’s company, the automations he has done, and of course the big legal battle over the water tower. Wishing all the best for your family, Looking forward to meeting you in the future, Mo.

What an amazing experience! This was the project I was most interested in during my career gap and was like a dream come true for me. We learned so much - not only skills and practical things, but also a different way of living and envisioning the world. We are so so inspired to dream and live the life that's more kind, more connected with all beings on this planet. Couldn't have asked for a better host.

Dottie and I just loved having Zilli here to help out. She was such a great help round the gardens, looking after Dottie and helping in the house. She has a great personality and nothing was a problems. We go to do a couple of road trips round the country side and she was great company. Hope you enjoy the rest of your travels and your welcome to call in again at any time.

What a great person, and an adorable dog! Rick and Charly are the type of guests we really enjoy hosting. He worked very hard and completed many projects. He knows how to work with tools and how to stay safe. When he takes on a project, he makes sure it is completed. Rick (and Charly), you will always have a home and a family in Carson City, Nevada!

Leo is a very personable young man and was quickly at home with us. He experienced some of the vagaries of Australian weather - a heatwave and summer rains and, while not directly affected, saw how part of the country are affected by bushfires and floods. He was a great help in the garden and around the house and seemed happiest when 'boss of the kitchen'. With his easy-going manner and good humour, we were impressed by the clarity with which he sees his career developing and his plans to get there. We wish him well.

Fuka-san was an exceptional guest, superbly attentive and in harmony with our home, which is probably not at all what she is used to in Japan. Flexible and respectful! We had a fantastic time and once again we were very glad to have opened our doors to a new guest! We loved making mochi and sushi together, and we learned so much about real Japanese culture from Fuka-san. Greetings from Rossano! Hope to see you soon :) Ramon and Paula

We stayed with Haley in Dec 2025. For context, we are experienced workawayers, with 4 previous experiences each, totaling over a year of time. Included in this are a horse sanctuary, a farm and a ranch, in central America and Canada, so we are very happy working with animals and getting our hands dirty. Unfortunately our stay with Haley did not work out. We were hoping to spend up to a month there but we left after 6 days. While Haley was very friendly, there were several reasons why we felt we couldn't stay any longer. One reason being the hygiene, especially in the kitchen. When living and working with animals, cleanliness should be a priority especially when food preparation is involved. We tried to put leftovers in the fridge for example but were always made to feel uncomfortable about it. This ended up with wasted food and lots of flies constantly in the kitchen. Secondly, a struggle with rescuing animals is learning to say no to more animals until it is responsible to do so. There were 13 dogs which are not trained and unable to live together. While we were expecting small fights between the dogs, we have witnessed severe fighting that really scared us. The animals could seriously get hurt or even a human trying to intervene. #redacted# This is entirely preventable by safety instructions and also proper training for the dogs. #redacted# Unfortunately another time one of the dogs was hit as punishment after starting a fight, not hard, but we still didn't like it. We understand rescuing animals is hard and there are strong emotions involved, but hygiene around animals and taking steps to ensure the safety and happiness of the animals (and the humans around them) are things we feel very strongly about, hence why we left and feel the need to leave this review.

I stayed with Dora and her family for only ten days in December 2025, and I had a beautiful time. The profile description describes everything perfectly. Most days consisted of helping with bikes and a few tasks around the house in the morning, going surfing in the afternoon, and spending relaxed evenings at my caravan. Dora is a very caring person and always has an open ear for everyone in the house. Her husband, Anezio, is a friendly and sympathetic person with genuine interest in others. For me, it was a carefree time, ideal for reflection and for connecting with a warm and supportive community:)

I really loved staying with the family and was welcomed with open arms. It was a really fun stay and the work was very enjoyable! I loved spending time with the kids and all of them are really wonderful and unique in their own way. Everyone was very kind and accommodating and helped me feel very welcome and taken care of. They are a lively and lovely family and I can really recommend visiting and helping out, because I had the best time! I really miss them and loved staying there. Thank you so much!

I worked here for around 5 months and it was an amazing experience, the hostel is beautiful and is in a great location close to the beach. Sara is an wonderful manager I loved working along side her, she was always available if you needed help and made sure everything ran smoothly, it is a great place to meet new people whether that’s the staff or guests. I would definitely recommend choosing the hostel if you come to Portugal as a Workaway, I wish I could have stayed longer and only left as I had to start my studies.

We only stayed at Marco and Mel’s for a short time but the hospitality we received when there was incredible. We gained some amazing knowledge of the area from Marco. Their dogs are the cutest and the wildlife around the cabin is amazing. If you’re excited by the idea of being secluded and surrounded by nature, and learning a lot about Australian wildlife and gaining some really useful skills, we would definitely reccomended this workaway for you! ☺️

Marcos and Karamjot are two extremely kind and helpful hosts. I was lucky enough to stay with them for two weeks over the Christmas holidays and had a very authentic and unforgettable time in Andalusia. The work was explained in detail and the working hours were flexible. I felt at home from the very first moment and cannot thank them enough for everything. We also had some very interesting conversations, and I am already looking forward to seeing them both again one day.

It's a shame I have to leave Marie and David. I spent a wonderful week with them, filled with laughter, camaraderie, baking, and gardening! They showed me their work on the farm with calves and sheep. They even stopped what they were doing to show me the different stages of silage production 😍. They were so generous and thoughtful! And I lost miserably at Rumikub 😞 Thank you for these shared moments! Thank you Marie for cooking for us as if we were royalty 😋 I hope to see you again very soon.
