I stayed with Tim for a few weeks and overall, it was a really accurate experience compared to what he described in the listing. It truly felt like camping, which was exactly what I was looking for. The off-grid lifestyle was enjoyable and a great learning experience for me because I wanted to see how people live that way day-to-day. We did do a lot of work, more than the typical five or six hours a day that Workaway usually recommends. It was pretty non-stop, and even after the main tasks, we were often busy with household chores like cooking and cleaning. So it’s definitely a place for someone who’s ready to dive into that kind of full-on lifestyle. For me, that was a great fit, but I did notice that one of the other volunteers struggled a bit with the intensity. Just something to keep in mind if you’re considering this kind of stay. Tim and his dog Stella where very friendly and happy to share stories, knowledge, and experience with work awayers. very grateful for this opportunity.

Lucia approached me during my winter break. It was a last minute decision. Ari is a wonderful girl. I could not teach her properly because she was sick because of the flue and then I got sick. Lucia took good care of me when I was sick. It was a nice Sicilian exchange and I want to thank the family for their hospitality. I am glad the parents enjoyed lentil soup when they were sick. Thank you for everything.

Antonie stayed with me for two weeks and was an incredible help on our farm. He got along well with everyone and quickly made people feel very comfortable around him. He was very eager to learn new things and already had a wide range of experience. He knows how to solve problems and improve difficult situations. I was really surprised by how strong he is. Thank you for making our lives easier. I hope he takes good care of himself, meets many people who show him the respect he deserves, and spreads his positive spirit wherever he goes. Anyone who gets to spend time with him can consider themselves lucky. Looking forward to meeting again someday when we'll harvest the fruit from the saplings we planted together...

Veronika stayed less than a week, but it was truly a wonderful experience. We had great conversations and lots of fun together. Veronika is a very sensitive person, which allows her to grasp many nuances and be a good listener. She's very precise and flexible in the tasks assigned to her. I can highly recommend her to anyone who wants to host her... good luck, Veronika, and God bless you.

My time was very special to me, and I would like to thank you, Natasa, for that! It was my first Workaway experience, and I am so glad I chose your dog sanctuary. You‘re doing such an impressive job and you’re providing a safe and happy home for so many wonderful, unique dogs. There is always plenty to do, but I really enjoyed the work. When you are surrounded by dogs all the time, it doesn't feel like real work at all 😊 Of course, I had to get used to the work and the tasks at first, but thanks to you, Natasa, and the other volunteers, I found my way around more and felt more confident in my responsibilities. I really enjoyed working and living together with the lovely and helpful volunteers and Fab. I felt so comfortable in this great team 😚❤️ Working with the dogs is something truly special and I miss every single one of these sweet dogs – especially Pablo, something I never would have thought in the first few days 😅 Thank you, Natasa, for this wonderful time, from which I learned so much, and for your hard work. I‘m hoping to return to this amazing place again. Sending a big hug to the team and all the dogs – and an extra kiss to Alex, Lazlo, Johnny, Pablo, Charlotta, Amber, Piero, Samu, Phos, and Adam 🙃

I've spent 11 days volunteering at Vincente's farm this December. It was a great experience, great place to meet people, so many funny characters and absurd situations, it felt like being in a comedy movie ahah . The work was mostly in the field, It is quite a big field growing all kinds of vegetables and herbs that you can use for delicious communal meals with all the volunteers. It is a relatively new project so there's a lot of work that can be done. Vincente leaves you with a lot of freedom in the field, I think it could be a great workaway for someone with horticulture knowledge willing to stay long term! When I was there the facilities for volunteers were very basic considering the number of people living there but manageable with a little organisation :) Vincente organizes a jam session in another finca every sunday, a lot of fun! thanks a lot for hosting me, sigue remandoo!

I wintered at Fernando's finca between November and January and enjoyed every moment of the experience. You might expect a desert to a homogenous and desolate place but I found it teeming with life and variety. Walk in any direction for 5 minutes and you will encounter something worth staring at. I will miss the profound natural beauty of this place. The work was between 9 and 1 every day and never tedious. Fernando has a very 'hands-off' approach, meaning he will provide instructions and allow you to work yourselves, that said he is always contactable and ready to explain tasks in greater detail. You will generally be allowed to choose work that suits you, some of the work I did during my tenure included: building a Casita with natural/recycled materials, digging channels for a reservoir, cutting firewood, burning excess, fixing fences, walking Rambla, Queso and Mami, cooking and a multitude of other jobs. I loved the social atmosphere and campfires every night and got to meet so many interesting travellers who I now consider my friends. Fernando is a MasterChef, junglist, baker, and so much more, he always helped if I had questions or needed something. He has big plans for his land and I can't wait to see how it changes over time. I recommend this workaway to anyone, feel free to DM me if you have questions.

Thank you Wolfgang and Esther for giving me a chance for my first workaway experience! I spent 3.5 weeks in the beautiful valley of Mogan, at their small farm. It was a very interesting experience for me. Some of the tasks were; feeding the chickens every morning and picking weeds for them. Taking down weeds with a trimmer. Cutting down and chopping up dead banana trees. Setting up a fence with canes. Mulching. I had good chemistry with Wolfgang who was always helpful and asked if I needed anything. We also did some cooking together, which was also nice. We had some good talks and he gave me some needed advice about life and religion. Thank you for that Wolfgang! It was nice to meet Esther too, who visited the hostel sometimes, always smiling :) They have a good orchard with various tropical fruits and avocados. A lot of aloe vera. And some vegetables. I tasted the dragonfruit (purple inside) for the first time and it was delicious :) They also run a cosy little hostel and rent out other apartments on their property. I stayed at the hostel with the rest of the guests. And we were like a nice little family. I'm glad that I got the chance to meet all those wonderful people. Special thanx to Barry who gave me a ride all the way to Las Palmas, when my workaway was finished. You really saved my day. And all those lectures about nutrition will come handy too. Good luck old pal :)

From the start I wasn't sure how long I wanna stay so I let it be and I decided to just go with my intuition during my stay and Martin was very opened about this. In final I stayed one month and it was very hard to leave to be honest. You will just simply love the place, vibe and the people around. Like a volunteer, you can participate in the kitchen, learn how to plant seeds and trees, help with kids and more. Martin is one of the best leaders I met in my life. I felt always like part of the family. He brought us to meet his friends, danced, cooked, managed some trips around and he was just perfect all the time. The work is not so hard. You will have planty of fun during the work and a lot of hours to chill after. But please, don't be lazy, do your job and be the community person even you never done it before. I had the best time there and I met people who will stay in my mind, heart and contacts :)) I would love to send a huge thank you to the kitchen ladies, Alfredo, Pico, Marcelo and everyone else. You were amazing — without you, the foundation wouldn’t run so well or feel so complete. Muchas thank you to all of you. I’m grateful that this was my very first Workaway experience. I can just recommend! ❤️

It was a pleasure to welcome Pit into my home. He has a strong work ethic and can be trusted to work independently. During his stay, the main work was to move large logs from the land to a central point. This was strenuous and monotonous work but Pit made significant progress. Pit is also an incredible chef. He is also a kind person who took the time to understand my grieving process following the recent loss of 3 family members over a short period of time. I thank Pit for his support and wish him every happiness and success in his life and career.

It was my first au pair experience, and I couldn’t imagine it any better. It is a very warm and welcoming family. I had easy tasks and a lot of free time. In the evenings, I usually spent time with Jorge. He is the sweetest, most lively boy, and I really loved playing with him. Or sometimes I took Maria to her activities. She is also very open and it was fun to talk and play with her. Sometimes things don’t go perfectly, but that’s just how children are. And the happy moments clearly outweighed the challenging moments. The parents are very caring, attentive, open and funny. They really made an effort to make me feel like part of the family. On weekends, I was able to do activities with them, such as hiking or going to the sea. I always felt very welcome, especially by the parents, but also by their friends and the grandparents. Living with them was nice. I could take the food I wanted, had a lovely room and even my own bathroom. The city of Cartagena, where they live, is beautiful. There is a lot to see, and the beach is truly wonderful. It was an amazing experience for me. I can highly recommend getting in touch with this family. They are all so kind, loving, and funny. I loved it.

Hello everyone and hello Elena! I spent a month on this island helping with various projects. It wasn't my first Workaway, and I must say I'll always remember this experience! The project is huge, and there are many ways to help. The work environment is exceptional, with views of the Lofoten Islands, walks on and around the island, kayaks available for exploring. The island is teeming with wildlife, including eagles, seals, puffins, and even orcas. You can even go fishing, all the equipment is provided. Elena is an incredible person with a wealth of experience and a great perspective on life. She immediately made me feel at ease when I arrived and made sure I had everything I needed, just like everyone else. You'll have the chance to discuss various topics, discover many things, share meals, and experience little moments that will remain unforgettable. Elena thank you a thousand time again, Best regards

Hosting Sarah and Ella was like having friends over for the weekend. They are super kind, gentle, organised and talented! Our new shoe shelf is super solid and looks amazing. We also had the pleasure to cook together and give them a little tour around the city which was very fun. Totally recommend :)

Carta bubbo numero uno!!!! I stayed with Alessandro for a month during the olive harvest. This is maybe one of the best workaways I've ever done. We spent each day in the field harvesting olives, then in the evenings we would all have dinner together and talk - maybe not as much philosophy as Ale would have liked however! Alessandro is warm, welcoming, HILARIOUS, and willing to teach about everything to do with olives and soap! He even took us to the olive oil factory to see the pressing. (Fresh olive oil tastes amazing, by the way). On the weekends we would often go into Sciacca, which is a small but very charming town. There was always something happening - music or some other event. There are also many very nice beaches a short drive from the farm which you can visit in the afternoons or weekends, I had some lovely swims even in October. At the end of the harvest Alessandro had t-shirts printed for the volunteers to commemorate our time together, which was a very fun and cute idea. I have to recommend very very very highly a stay with Alessandro at via Carta Bubbo. Everything is done, in his words, 'just for fun' :)))

From day one Aaron was ready to help, ready to learn, ready to be a part of the team !! He has tons of energy, tons of positive energy, we were very happy to have him as part of the team for 1 month. He helped with all of our daily tasks and more, he was 100% involved in all of our needed jobs and guest arrivals. We highly recommend him to any of the future workaways that he decides to travel to in the future. We would say that you should not think twice of getting him on your team. Do not let his age fool your, his age is young, but he is really solid as a mature young man, very polite, well educated, respectful to our arriving guests from all over the world. We hope to have him return soon to Costa Rica and visit us !

It's hard to find the words to describe my experience in Calpan. It felt more like being adopted into a family than volunteering. I only stayed for two weeks but I know I have found a lifelong family at the ranch. The days are long as your main task is to help with the animals in the morning and night - but if you're familiar with this kind of work you will get used to it quickly. During the day you'll often have a lot of freedom to use your ideas and skills to help out according to your strengths. Weekends can be a bit busier as you might be helping to greet larger groups of guests who come to do bike rides, hiking and horse riding. The Workaway page is new, but the family have had many volunteers over the years, and they always return. Speaking Spanish helps, but many volunteers have come with little Spanish and learned a lot during their stay. As an experienced rider, I got to go on some amazing rides with incredible views of the volcanoes. I learned so much about horsemanship - and life - from the whole family and team at the ranch. I miss them so much and can't wait to return soon!
