Marcel. A TOP NOTCH chillie-loving workawayer- in any way possible! Marcel was our first Workawyer in 2026, and stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of March. Marcel... What to say? Such a fine person and such an eager Workawayer. In the most possible way. This is a super nice guy, with the best work etich! Marcel came in the middle of March, to help out with getting the firewood home. Due to different incidents, this didnt work out quiet as planned, but we got close to the finish line- and this delay had NOTHING TO DO WITH Marcel! But then we had a lot of other smaller tasks, that was executed to perfection by this superman! Springtime is very busy around here, so a lot of little different things to do on a farm like this. Marcel cleaned the patio and the greenhouse. Got the summer furnitures down from the cealing in the barn and cleaned them. Collected leftovers from the horses to put in the garden. Helped to get compost from our local recycling station, HARD work! On a workday, where we were not able to work on the firewood, Nynne asked if Marcel was up for helping out w her moms pation, in her elderhome. OF COURSE! So we packed the trailer w flower pots and different brooms needed for the job and drown off. Now THAT was a huge succes! We spend a afternoon on cleaning everything, and now its spotless and mom is very happy. Marcel was VERY good at communicating w an elder person, probably comes from his job as a paramedic? Mom is now constantly talking about" that wonderfull young man from Germany, who helped her out, and made everything look so great! Ohh, what a fine man, and so polite". And she`s right! We had an open and flexible dynamic in terms of work, since Marcel is very open for what needs to be done, and wants to do his very best. If you wanna do something nice for Marcel, show him your local thrift stores and local historic buildings- He`ll be so happy! Marcel as a person? Marcel is a very responsible and respectful individual, who speaks Danish very well. He brings a calm balanced energy that enriched us all. He was always open to learning new things and complets tasks independtly and with great care. No matter if it was physical work or a smaller projects. Marcel was always fully committed and had a consistently positive attitude. He became a dear friend to us, during his stay here. Marcel eats everything-with a small drip of his killer-chillie... So that, obviosly, turned in to a small man-competition very qiuckly! He drove of in his car on his days off, to see the local things we surguested him. He`s very much into history, and wants to know what things are like, where he stayes. We had a big election for the next prime minister, weil he was here, so we learn him about the Danish election system. We also learned a lot of things about Germany from him. A tru super exchange. Not just work related. We fully recommend Marcel and would be over the moon happy to welcome him back here, anytime of the year! Dearest Marcel. You are a wonderfull man, and you KNOW the door is always open for our workaway family (You KNOW how dear all our WA`s are to us!- You heard a lot about them all;-) And we are so darn lucky, that you picked us as hostes on your danish roundtrip. Thank YOU for everything you did here at our farm. And thank you for being such a cool (paramedic)-friend. We need you always;-) In the hopes of seeing you back here on a warm summer day on you way to,or back from, Skagen, so you can see the farm in full bloom! YOU deserve it! Kind regards and the best of luck w everything you do! Nynne, Søren & mom Alice P.s. Are you talking to Marcel OR myself?? - Now that has become a classic here:-)

Where to start…. Manlio stayed in our place for about six months, so I would have too many things to write about this experience. I start with the most important one, whoever will have the chance to host him will be lucky, Manlio is very nice person, respectful of house habits and privacy of private spaces, he is very committed to help, especially with outdoor activities. Here some of the tasks he helped us with (mostly independently, asking feedback when needed): • Pruning trees • Built brick and dry-stone partition walls • Trim a hedge • Prune vines • Widening and filling the gaps in the reclaimed wooden steps In addition to the great help, it has always been a pleasure to chat and spend time with him, he has a good nature, he is very well-read and enjoys good foods. For us it was the first time that we hosted someone for more than a couple of weeks, and it has been really an excellent experience, I am sure we will stay in touch. Actually, I think I am missing the real most important thing: Manlio a big THANK YOU from me and Roberto!!!

My stay at the Farm was very good, you learn a lot about cacao fermentation, chocolate production and i was able to visit other farms too and learn about agriculture and wildlife. You can eat chocolate and see the cacao process from pot to bar. Mayoor and Mukunth are very social and caring. They make sure you can do the work you like and you are good at. In the beginning i did some farmwork wich was fun. But then i mainly did the Website and Social Media, taking photos and videos, i really learned how to improve my skills. You will learn a lot about farming and maybe find hidden passions. :) The people make you feel included and you will feel as a group really soon. I made some really good friends there. The food and the accommodation were also nice, simple and modest. In farming you don‘t alsways have luxury so you learn to appreciate the small things. As a city girl from Germany i had to get used to blackouts and no running water for hours. But it was fun chatting with flashlights in the dark and learning that luxury is really overrated sometimes. You will also have cultural experiences with the temple in Kateel nearby and festivals with theaters and an elephant walking by every morning, which is really great. I can definetely recommend the Farm as a volunteer. :)

I had a wonderful time with Wayne and Vicki, and their two dogs! The work was very interesting and I learnt so much about permaculture, food and nutrition. I usually worked between 9am-1pm in the garden with Wayne (mulching, harvesting, weeding and helping with building simple structures) with a generous tea break, and sometimes helped with dinner. Wayne and Vicki are mainly plant based, and Vicki is an excellent cook, so I ate really delicious, healthy food. Healesville is a very sweet little town with lots of nice cafes, and you can easily catch a bus to the Sanctuary or to the nearby art gallery. Vicki and Wayne also very kindly drove to other local sights and even took me to a local music festival!

I had a great experience with Ale & Alvaro! They have a magical property outside of Curacavi. It’s a remote oasis with a beautiful accommodation, the best I’ve had on Workaway so far! They cooked delicious meals that we got to enjoy together, primarily vegetarian. I stacked firewood and helped out with any odd jobs they had on the property. They have a lot of knowledge on Chile history/culture so I learned a lot! I could only stay for a week but I wish I had more time! Highly recommend volunteering here!

Meeting Ilknur and her family, and being in her village was like a long overdue prayer answered. Our interaction, collaboration and friendship came at exactly the right time for me, and I hope for her. We shared food, stories, laughter, bbqs, artistic ideas and evenings well spent. I was able to learn new skills, like how to help someone build a woodfire oven! I was able to paint a huge, beautiful mural in just 10 hours (the rain was coming) on the outdoor wall of Ilknurs family home for the whole village to see. She trusted me with that, and I hope I was able to deliver. It was a dream of mine to paint a mural. Her family was kind, gems of people, and also helped me with my passion for learning turkish. I also had the best dinners and breakfasts of my time travelling with Ilknur. I also lost my passport on the bus to the village! But I was taken care of, I was healthy and safe and felt like I was with family so it was easily resolved in some time. Who am I to recommend her? I am nobody. But if your destiny aligns, and there is a want and need for a beautiful, long lasting and trustworthy, loyal friendship - then I can only hope for you that you may meet beautiful people such as Ilknur and her family and friends. I got to know many people in the village and was accepted readily. I had a much beautiful time. Forever memorable.

Georgia and Eloise came for a fortnight. From the moment they arrived, I could feel their positivity and desire to enjoy themselves. They are both open, bubbly and intelligent girls. And you couldn't help warming to them instantly. They helped each night with the evening meals and did all sorts of tasks round the place. From cleaning, picking fruit, making some jam for winter, bottling etc. They came to the market each weekend and really really wanted to help. So they set up the second week almost by themselves, just didn't need any instructions and chatted to customers and stall holders alike. They all warmed to them instantly. They were very flexible and we always enjoyed each others' company at the end of the day in the Little Pod - with the sun streaming in and a cup of tea in hand. They were even brave enough to go swimming multiple times - even though the water temperature is now starting to really cool. Their squeals at the cold are still resonating across the water.! Unfortunately they missed meeting Priscilla the Platypus - who only turns up on occasions, but Eloise was delighted to meet our resident Echidna as he ambled past while she was sitting by the water. I couldn't have planned that better!! I would recommend both girls to someone looking for great company and a willing hand. Thanks girls. Anne

It was Eid when I came to Ahmad. On my first day I had the honour to meet many people of Salihiyah village who welcomed me and treated me as one of their own. Ever since then I felt connected to the community which is full of unique, passionate, kind and funny individuals, many of whom I regard as friends now. Some of the nights I slept in Ahmad’s family house, others on my own in his tent which is a few km away from the village. The tent is situated in a beautiful valley that was full of flowers, grass and other plants in spring, surrounded by mountains of different colors and shapes in all directions. That valley and the tent are my home and it was hard to leave even just after a few nights spent there. I had plenty of time on my own, and I also had plenty of time with Ahmad’s cousins and friends, all of whom made sure I had food, tea, or whatever else I needed, and who where often a welcoming surprise after a day on my own. In regards to work, I helped Ahmad take the sheep out to graze in the surrounding areas, which is a meditative and deeply enjoyable task. If you wish to live as the Bedouins and really experience the Bedouin lifestyle, Ahmad is your guy. Staying in the tent you will not have modern conveniences but instead you’ll have a piece of mind, great Bedouin shepherd neighbours, mountains to climb, and a view that no hotel can match. Ahmad, thank you my friend, without you and Salihiyah my experience in Wadi Rum wouldn’t be what it was, and I wouldn’t feel ready to go out into the desert, on my own. :) Until next time, inshallah

Frieda is a quiet person, reliable and easy to have around. She was perfect with the dogs going every morning on a walk with them. She helped me with the horses and did every task around the house thoroughly. She is also independent and went for some sightseeing in the area. It was a pleasure hosting you, Frieda!

For my first Workaway experience, all my expectations were exceeded! Elke and Martin were the most welcoming and wonderful people. Their house is beautiful and their art really makes the place shine, Martin is an amazing cook as I could never get enough and Elkes knowledge of plants in her garden is amazing and she is very observant and thoughtful! Unforgettable experience could not recommend it more! I will never forget Wollomos and their kleine Nilpferd!

I stayed at Akino's place with another wonderful volunteer from Texas for three weeks. It was one of my first Workaway experiences and I am truly grateful that I had the chance to get to know such a loving community. The kids, their families, Akino’s family (Wataro, Momo and Nene) and my roommate made this experience really special. I especially enjoyed sharing my culture—whether it was introducing Easter through an egg hunt at the kindergarten or organizing a football event day with the kids. At the same time, I had the opportunity to learn more about the diverse culture in the U.S., especially in Texas, as well as Japanese culture Spending time with the children was a lot of fun: playing in the park, folding origami together, going on trips and doing a treasure hunt were some of my favorite moments. Talking with the parents was always interesting and also a great way to practice my Japanese. The food we cooked and were treated to was some of the best I had in Japan—potato hash browns, Texas red beans, vegetable lasagna, katsu curry and so much more! I am very grateful for how well Akino organized the cultural exchange events, welcomed us with a delicious dinner on the first day and supported us in so many ways. On top of that, the trips we took together with her family to Unzen and Obama Onsen were one of my highlights. They allowed me to truly appreciate the beauty and diversity of Nagasaki. We also had enough free time to explore Isahaya and its surroundings, which I really enjoyed. I could write pages about this amazing experience, but most importantly, I want to say thank you—to Akino, the kids, their families, and my roommate :)

Delayed, but better late than never! Meeting Seada and Jesse kicked off my Workaway experience, and oh my goodness, I couldn't be more grateful. They accepted me with open arms, showed me the ropes, and eased my anxiety as a first-time Workawayer. Because of the confidence they gave me, I continued to do several more Workaways all across Europe and Australia, and it's changed my entire life. In saying so, I guess you could say Seada and Jesse changed my life :). They're kind, capable, and tolerant - and now, my good friends. If you get the opportunity to stay with these 2 - please take it!

Hugo is such a polite and caring young man, it was an absolute pleasure to host him, eager to help me with with any task. Anything he was unsure about he would ask me to show him. I am so grateful for the jobs he achieved My dogs and cats loved Hugo too. It was sad to see him go after being here for 3 weeks. Hugo would be welcome back here anytime 😊
