Description
Ciao! We are a Sicilian family living in a big country house near the coast in Licata, Agrigento. We own almost 2 hectares of land and we would need help with its maintenance.
A few years ago the property was well cared; we made wine from our grapes, we had chickens, goats, pigs and two small garden and we organized some non-profit events in order to bring back to life some old sicilian dishes and techniques.
Our little goal is to try to be more self-sufficient as in the past, to waste as less as possible, to share our skills and traditions and of course to learn as much as we can from other people.
For the moment we can only host people who speaks Italian or Spanish, since English is not easy for me at the moment.(sorry)

You will live in a close contact with nature, 5 minutes by car from the sea and 10 minutes from Licata center
( we go down to the center about 2\3 times per day ).
Experience the Sicilian countryside\seaside, the amazing food and the sun of course.
You will learn how to develop projects in the garden, how to use field equipment and live a simple lifestyle.
In your free time you could go around Sicily; the famous Agrigento valley of Temples is half an hour from us and there are trains to Palermo (2h30) Catania (1h 30) and other beautiful cities.
You can explore the ancient area around our house, the Spanish castle, Greek ruins...

Help
We are starting to develop a new project: a camping in our small forest. Our idea is to create a space where everyone can feel home, share good moments and try to reduce the impact on Earth. We would mainly need help with builiding stuff, organizing spaces for tents, creating a chilling area, creating stones paths... Any new ideas are really welcome!! We also need help in the property with: cleaning the fields from grass, cutting wood for the stove, some small construction\carpentry jobs, fixing something (furniture ecc) in the house, general help around the house.
We are looking for someone who likes physical work, is independent and flexible( we can show you the work and join sometimes, but mostly we are working downtown) and likes to spend time alone with nature.
We are mainly looking for someone with experience in construction\bio-construction\carpentry \permaculture but everyone with motivation is welcome! Another project is to create a permaculural garden using the Hugelkulture technique!
We are not in a hurry to finish as soon as possible, on the contrary we will take our time to do tasks well without stress.
We will do tasks max. 4-5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Of course if you have some request we can rearrange free days and timetables.

Accommodation
We can host you in a tent with mattress in our small forest!
There is an outside kitchen, an outside shower ( you will love to shower outside with fresh water during the Sicilian summer, I swear), a dry toilet , WiFi and areas for chilling.
We also provide some basic food like pasta, rice, beans, vegetables... and drinkable water of course.
Sometimes you could eat with us at lunch, usually in weekends ( we work downtown all week long).
For the moment it's a rustic campsite, but with all the basics you need! Write Pioggia in your message if you read till here.

We work downtown almost all the week long, that's why we usually do a briefing on Weekends to organize the job for the week ( you will spend a lot of time alone, but we are happy to share as much as possible when we are home) :)
