I spent 2 great weeks in March 2024 with Genevieve and her boys, Jayden and Christian in Barna, Galway, it’s a beautiful, picturesque town, just like in the movies!
From the start, Gen was so friendly, flexible and easy going, we had great conversations about our life adventures, single parenting and had lots of laughs in between. I found Gen to
… read more be an amazing, courageous woman with a sweet soul. I admired her tenacity of single handedly raising 2 boys while studying full time and loved her positive parenting style in terms of teaching Christian to be independent, responsible, and to learn about actions and consequences.
Also, Gen kindly offered to pick me up once I arrived from the train station, dropped me in Galway city several times and took me to the bus station on my departure, it was such a nice gesture and very appreciated by me.
The tasks were very easy, they included cooking, basic cleaning, laundry, babysitting, reading and playing with both Jayden and Christian and I loved looking after them. Jayden was so easy to take care of, smart and always had a smile on his face, he absolutely loved his breakfast with blueberries and strawberries and enjoyed his walks outside with me.
Christian was a fun, great kid, he was quite independent, made his own lunches, loved playing video games, enjoyed learning about Australian animals and liked helping me bake a few times.
I miss them all so much and hope to return one day and hopefully tour some of Irelands beautiful landscapes together. 😊You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

The two girls were very helpful around the house. Everyday I woke up to a clean house which was great. They used their own initiative to travel to the city and they also baked and cooked dinner which was a huge help to me. We had some lovely chatting and laughter and the kids got along well with the girls. They are very hardworking young ladies.

Ida was such an amazing workaway to have with our family. She was definitely on the top of the list as a workaway. Her energy was amazing so relaxed, and adaptable to my family. She loved soccer and engaged with older son so well they really got along great and played and watched soccer. We cooked together and baked together and watched movies
… read more together it just felt like she was part of the family. My toddler also loved her because her energy as a person was just so natural. I wish we had arranged for Ida to stay longer because it’s hard to find someone who is just so natural. We will really miss Ida and she is a wonder person to have stay in your home. She went of cycling and found her own way around galway and did chores that were asked of her perfectly. 11/10 my son said. Thank you Ida for your kindness and love, wishing you all the best in the future. Your a beautiful human inside and out.

I had two amazing weeks with Gen and her family. The work was really simple and explained well. Gen is super easygoing and funny, and she's always trying to accommodate your wishes, eg. by being flexible with the hours. She made sure I had a great experience in Galway and even cooked some Irish food so I could try. Jayden is very cute and

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since my stay with Genevieve, Christian and Jayden in the Irish Countryside of Barna, ( a short bus ride to Galway) but even after all this time my memories of my stay with this lovely family hold a special place in my heart.
From the moment I arrived I was warmly welcomed by Genevieve and her lovely
… read more children. Sweet Jayden was just sitting up at that point, so smiley and such a happy baby, a true pleasure! I loved cuddling him up and taking him for long walks in the stroller. Christian was a curious happy 8 year old, and we hit it off immediately! We went for bike rides, did some beach walks, and even had a camp fire and made s’mores! Genevieve was a gracious host and an amazing cook! She was so kind and generous and provided me my own room in her cozy house. She was great about encouraging me to explore the area, and gave me a lift into Galway and down to the bus when she could. One day I went to Aran Islands and rented a bike, which I would highly recommend, absolutely stunning!
The work wasn’t really work at all, just pitching in with the daily running of a house with 2 growing boys and a busy Mom. I did help with some decluttering and organizing the space both inside and out. Genevieve wanted to try her hand at veggie gardening so I found some old dresser drawers and and bathtub and planted some potatoes in that, which I think was successful! Not sure how the rest went, so if you have a green thumb, maybe you can help in that department!
Although my stay was short, we became friends quickly, and still stay in touch today. If you have the opportunity to get to stay with Genevieve and her sweet children you will not regret it, and it will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on your heart and soul as it did mine.

Hello, I spent a month with Genevieve, Christian and Jayden: I had a wonderful time with them.
Genevieve is such a brave single mom, she is the best with her two sons ! I felt very comfortable with her, we had a lot of conversations about everything, she showed me few places around her house and she always had good advices for me. Christian is

About the work, Genevieve needs someone with whom she can create a team. So if you have experience with babies (change the nappies, feed them and give them a lot of love) and you're comfortable around them you should be fine! :) She is very flexible about work so you have plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings and travel as well.
She goes a lot in Galway city or in town, so even if her house is in the countryside, you won't have any problem to visit places and take buses as you wish.
I really recommand this family, they are kind and full of love and laughter! I miss them very muchYou can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
