Description
Back from a long trip in Asia, I did many Workaway experiences and really loved it. Now, I’m living in an old house that needs some renovation, and I would love to have some help!
The main goal is to make the place pleasant and enjoyable to live in, whether in the garden (2,400 m²), inside the house (add colors, decoration, etc.), or in the barn. In and around the house, we need to keep the spaces clean, and because the property is large, it takes time and resources. On my own, I’m not progressing as fast as I would like, even though I’ve already had help from many friends and family members. I really want to make this place fun, original, and welcoming. All ideas are welcome!
**Accommodation**
I have a bedroom available for you, with a garden view, a desk, and a double bed. If needed, I can add a mattress on the floor (for two friends rather than a couple). The bedrooms are heated, but the house is not always fully heated because the windows are single-glazed. There is a wood stove that we can light on some evenings to spend cozy time together, cook a nice meal, discuss or maybe play games (I have lots of them!).
In your free time, you can take bikes and visit the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay (2 minutes’ walk from the house!) or go to the beach (10 minutes by bike!). The village is small, but there are many nice walks (it’s an old fishing village), lots of birds, a few nice restaurants, a bakery, small grocery shop, a tourist office, and more. We want people to enjoy the place and have plenty of free time during their stay.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You can learn woodworking and renovation skills. We have a craft space with lots of materials. You can also simply enjoy special moments in the idyllic setting of the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay.
On my side, I love meeting new people. We can spend nice time together, although sometimes I’m not available, so it’s usually better if you come as two people — unless you never get bored on your own!
My neighbors have a tennis court that I can borrow, and I have rackets.
I also have lots of great books, fun board games, art supplies, and musical instruments (piano, guitars, ukulele and saxophone).
I can share travel stories with you, help you learn a language, and show you around the region.
Help
I would need people to help us by renovating, cleaning and reorganizing the house (a fan of Marie Kondo would be veryyy welcome). But also preparing the garden for the season to come, plant salads, potatoes, carrots, zucchinis, I also have trees to plant... and cooking nice meals. 🤩 we provide food on the working days!

Since my travel in Japan, I can speak a bit of Japanese, but I would really like being better and practice more. I can teach Japanese for beginners. I can also teach French or English.
Accommodation
It's an old typical french house with a big garden (and a beautiful cat).
It's calm in the winter and we enjoy nice evenings next to the stove. For the summer, there is a barbecue to enjoy with our family or friends, of course you can use it too, and you can cross the bay with a local guide (unique experience!).
The kitchen is fully equipped. The bathroom has heated water. We have 2 WC in the house and one outside.
Your room will be a private double bedroom in the house with clean linen (I precise it because it wasn't always the case in my workaway experiences 😂).
What else ...
We have bikes you can use to visit the countryside and the beautiful bay of the Mont-Saint-Michel with the famous sheep almost in freedom. There are also forests and little trails where you can jog or just have a walk. If you like crafts, you can use our material for sewing, painting, drawing or the diy workshop (with hammer, saw, wood, and all the big stuff). We also have guitars, piano, ukulele and some other music instruments that you’re free to use. Some evenings, we can enjoy a movie together or a nice board game :).

Cédric was our first workawayer, he was supposed to stay 2 weeks and finally stayed almost 2 months! We were very happy to share this first experience with him, he met all our family and friends and he's now part of it. Cedric is a very positive and dynamic guy, smily and fun. He's not afraid to say what he's thinking… read more
Came to stay 2 weeks, eventually spent 5 weeks at Didier's (Louisa's father) place.
What to say ? They were kind enough to accept a friend of mine coming along.
We were their first workawayers, and their were our first hosts.
We both incredibly enjoyed our stay at Didier's.
Our main work was renovating the house.… read more
